Cookie Mite I read a fun fact a few days ago where when someone confesses their love and you don’t know what to say people would often times talk about the moon saying it’s beautiful or such but they mean that they like/love the person back. But I’m guessing they just used that saying here for kind of like an ‘’Easter egg’’ to find.
@@cmqz836 The Japanese VA, Saori Hayami is not deaf but she’s incredibly good at method voice acting. However, Lexi Cowden (the English dub VA) is deaf.
I have a friend who's just like her, but she has autism as well. She's the sweetest girl I know and draws me pictures everyday. So happy to know we're still friends for 10 years
When my sister told me that (we we’re watching the dub, sorry) I was actually surprised at it, the I thought it was really cool how they got an actual deaf person to do her voice
@@ArcticZombie i honestly almost always watch dub just bc i can't read that fast and i wanna be able to watch the anime and not just read and for 2 years ididn't even realize how toxic some ppl are abt dubs like damn
I don't know what to write here I can read subtitles well, and I’ve watched a couple anime subbed, but I almost always go for the dub if it’s available. I like dubs because they’re more “convenient”. Like if I’m watching some anime with incredible art (Violet Evergarden, Redline, etc.) I want to make sure my eyes are constantly glued to what is happening, not reading what they’re saying below. Or if I’m watching a Naruto filler episode, I can still tell what’s going on, but I don’t have to give it my undivided attention. I also find comedy anime funnier in English (Space Dandy, Konosuba)
What a golin Edit: for those people who don't understand why did I say : what a goblin, it's because this human being had a profile pic, with an Indian goblin, and the username was something weird I can't remember.
How could someone laugh while watching Shouko trying her best to live her life and making Shoya happy? I was literally bawling like a child. A Silent Voice healed me but broke me at the same time...
The fact that Ishida found soooo impossible and unlikely and weird to someone to like him or love him that he immediately thought Nishimiya was talking about the moon breaks me...
It is also because moon in japanese is tsuki pronounce skee and, like is suki also pronounced as skee and yeah also because ishida never thought that nishimiya would never romantically love him
@Pyro Thermite yeah but it's a clear as bright day that what Shouko did was confession. The fact that he didn't even though about those possibility is kinda sad
@Pyro Thermite yes but a love confession is not made up of just “suki” You add other words to it, “I like you,” is not made up of just “like” is it? He should have noticed.
@Pyro Thermite I know 💀 One doesn't just say "I like the moon" when they haven't faced it and were looking at you the whole time, and that doesn't take a lot of courage to say (and it took her a lot, and it was clear af) 💀💀💀
Honestly I don't think she'd have asked him if her voice sounded weird if she didn't know it did already, I think she was more disapointed in that moment because she wanted to be able to express herself clearly and he probably made some sort of confused face so she asked if her voice sounded weird. Though, she seems to really want to say her thoughts out loud and be understood so it's still heartbreaking all the same
Agga Viriyo why should she apologize for attempting suicide she didn't make him jump after her or anything Japan needs to get their mental health shit together
@@Miniselkie lemme elaborate coz I'm bored Most Japanese have this mindset that always blames themself for what MIGHT be their fault even though it clearly isn't. They have a really stress level because of this How do they develop such mindset? It's because their parents and society told them to always put other people above yourself. It's a double edged sword. On the positive side, people are mostly kind, selfless, obedient, and easy to organize. But on the negative side, it caused them to unnecessarily hurt themself due to their lack of understanding of the situation and automatically blame themself due to this mindset Hope this helps explain things. I could make it longer but that would be harder to read
Shouko's VA is absolutely brilliant, especially the scene at the end when she and Ishida met on the bridge after he woke up from his coma. Her trying to talk while crying split my heart in half and my tears just fell down in a way I never thought could happen! I will forever cry to this movie no matter the age, place, or situation.
I mean nishimiya says "Suki" which means "I like you" or sum. Ishida thought she was saying "Moon" Because moon in japanese is literally "Tsuki" She had troubles proununciating words that's why ishida confuses "Tsuki" to "Suki" the words sounded the same y'all.
Dat21 i interpreted the joke as making fun of shoya for not understanding that she meant she loved him, and being so oblivious to her message (hence the sArcAstiC letters). r/woooosh me i guess(?)
I mean, my tears just from just watching the first three minutes of this could do the same thing. This shit is why sub is almost always better than dub
Don't ask whose fault it is if your account reminisces about insulting nishimiya, Krahh Krahh 🤠🥀🥀 Signed, ⭐ Member of the Wild West Facebook Cowboy Organization ⭐
As someone who speaks Japanese well enough, everything she said to him when they were kids was not that hard to understand. I'm starting to think that *he* was the deaf one.
@@geneivalozano The world opened my eyes, your feelings means shit to anybody, they don't have to care nor do they have any reason to,in the end, you aren't of any importance to anyone.
@@Anonymous-jj1re wow I can’t even disagree with what you’re saying because you do have a point, I’m not gonna been one of those people that’s gonna say don’t give up, but not everyone in the world is cruel you have some people who really care for others and you have some that don’t, look at the government for example
Her voice actor did such a great job considering she isn’t even deaf.I love Shoko’s voice because it’s so heart warming. Edit:You guys I’m talking about her Japanese VA since the video is in English sub.Im not talking about her English VA
@@kairop Yeah ! And during an interview the VA told us that she used to voice Shouko by overplaying the speaking loss to show us that Shouko wasn't able to talk at all. I personally love that attention to details
I know the English VA is actually deaf , but the Japanese VA does deserves a lot of credit for creating an accurate depiction of a deaf person’s voice by studying how they speak
@@queenhandong6676 Well I kinda already did so don't get your waifu pillow twisted; like I said, the noises are annoying and it's far from what an angel would sound like (if they existed, which they don't, but if they did, they wouldn't sound like that...)
i hate it for this exact reason :') yeah its a good movie and its message is important but everyone is either a moron or an asshole or both and I'M NOT putting myself through that again ; v ;
@@vanillapeach9978 OMG INSTANT RELIEF;;;; srsly i think the only ones i wasnt too mad about was anime sr pelo and maria. even shoko struck too many nerves
@mihai oprea gaming its really disrespectful its not a nice thing to say to someone imagine being deaf its really a life struggle i can’t imagine not being able to hear anything without hearing aids its really hard for them so please respect them.
“i don’t hate you” “i hate myself” MY HEART BROKE also the hospital scene where she said “i’m sorry” over and over broke my heart 🥺💕 this movie is so sad it hurts ssoashhshh
Especially since she would have been able to hear but when he ripped out her earbuds when they were kids he ruined that bc she needed both and she could only kinda hear bc she only had one
I think me and my family already have watched this anime, bro In rainy day plus the movie was good, i think we watched it in 2020 or 2019 the anime was good
I've seen a lot of deaf people in shows and movies and it's honestly been disappointing to see how they presented them, but the way they did Shoko in this is beautiful
This is just like one of my 9 wives - an English petite girl. The first time I met her was when she was about to hang herself, since she was bullied and they took her clothes off in class. How could they? She may look normal, but she too is like Shōuko. Thank goodness I got there on time. Now, in regards as to why I married 9 girls, it's because her, I did this so that she feels to be with her co-wives who will act like her class 1 friends. If one of my wives can relate to Shōuko, then I will do it on her behalf.
Mary Grace No, she never said that. She was saying that Shouko is a cute person in general. She was complimenting her, then saying that she hates that Shouko hates herself. Don't assume.
It all started with Shoya. Watching a person with a golden heart and a disability get bullied is so heartbreaking. That itself made me like Shouko so much more because she's exactly the person that doesn't deserve mistreatment (no one does, but some more than others). The sadness still lingers today, make it stop.
@@oriongirl4015 You need to watch A Silent Voice or better yet read it because broooo it will make you feel some type of way that you ain't never felt before
@@valentin5136 I mean he probably never considered that she meant "like"/"love" instead of "moon" because he was certain she would never feel anything for him
Something about the pronunciation of moon and the casual pronunciation for I love you are very similar. She's deaf so annunciation was probably just bad
