What caused the fire in the Koenigsegg Jesko? The company’s announcement on social media follows: "After last week’s incident in Greece, where a Jesko caught fire, extensive investigation at Koenigsegg was conducted to understand what happened. The most important thing is that no one was injured, and we are truly grateful for that. We asked all Jesko owners to stop driving their cars until we understood the incident better, while we gathered all the cars at our service centers. The fuel tank, engine oil, and transmission oil remained intact in the vehicle after the fire was extinguished. They were not affected by the fire, nor were they the source of it. However, there was hydraulic fluid behind the car on the road. With this indication, we checked the high-pressure hydraulic fluid circuit, the only system using this substance. Upon closer inspection, we found a damaged hydraulic fluid hose at the rear of the car. All the above clearly indicate that this was the cause of the fire. We are now checking the installation of every hydraulic fluid hose in all the Jeskos on the road and those ready for delivery to ensure there is no danger. Additionally, we are adding another level of safety by developing a software update that will detect a drop in pressure or leakage in the hydraulic fluid circuit in less than a second. In such a case, the system will shut down to prevent any fire. Our goal is to release the first version of this software with this additional capability by the end of next week and recheck the cars afterward. We are very grateful to the owner of the car that burned in Greece for his continuous support. We will provide him with a new car to continue his journey in the world of Koenigsegg. Wow. Even cars die in Greece? So much heat!

I have heard a lot of Jesko revving sounds to know that there was something wrong with this Jesko when the driver revved it in this video. The revs didn't sound high pitched like other Jesko.

Most of these cars catch on fire because the idiots who drive them redline them standing still or drive them in low gears at slow speeds so there is no airflow to cool the coolant. These are high performance engines that can produce much more heat than a standard car. So much heat comes off the engine that plastics, rubber, and even the carbon fiber itself catches fire, just by proximity. This is also why so many supercars end up with warped cylinders and need engine swaps after just a few thousand miles. And this all for "the sound". Doesn't matter if it's a sports car, one should never redline a car EVER! Redline literally means you've reached failure point, not "this is the way to drive." Once you hit 4 to 5000 rpm you should also be moving at 150mph so that enough air passes through the radiators to cool the coolant. The only time one should red line any car is when going at maximum speed. At that speed the coolant should be doing it's job getting cooled and cooling the engine thus minimizing engine damage, and no fires. There's tons of YT vids of supercars catching on fire, and what's the common denominator? They are all being redline reved while standing still or barely moving. If I was a supercar manufacturer I would add to the contract both warranty cancelation and insurance blacklisting to any one caught revving my creation like a douche, while not moving at the appropriate speed to ensure cooling.
