Fantastic update and great to see the Skypod back in action I’ve some maintenance to undertake this weekend , new head installation on my pressure filter as it’s 13 years old now , still operating well . I have a UV pre filter bay and after on the return to the pond , you can get a powder additive which cleans the quartz sleeve but you can’t beat taking them out once a year and giving them a good clean 👍
Good update Andy really liked watching the koi in the sky pond. Iv go my UV on a WiFi timer I only set it for during the day and turn it off at night so far I’ve getting two seasons out of the bulb my change it this year see how things go 😂
Interesting video good information like it 👍 I find there is a lot of confusion about when to change the uv bulb. Every year, for me now 😊🐟 cheers enjoyed that 👍 🐟
I’ll have to try my UV to make sure it works as I don’t think I’ve switched it on since the pond was completed back in October 😂 I love the sky pond. I’d have one myself but unfortunately it would’t really suit my pond. I did my water test earlier today to be greeted with an ammonia spike (gone from 0 up to 1 ppm) 🤦🏻♂️ It was absolutely fine 4 days ago! I think it’s due to the remainder of the dead blanket weed overloading the biological load on the filter but either way it’s still a pain in the butt.
UV bulb changed today as well. I buy two for one so always have a spare. My pond is currently 13.5c..has been for a few days now. That UV unit may the dogs whatsits but its a lot of work to swap out the bulb. Its like the sky pond never went away.
I think I may have told you this before but you can heat your pond through your central heating system and can be controlled totally separate to the heating within your rooms of the house that's what I did with my last koi pond and probably the last unfortunately 😔
@@KoiPondLifestyle Mine worked just a coiled copper pipe in the vortex but it all depends on how anyone's koi pond is set up..my pond was above ground level but my decking area was a little higher and the filters were sat under the decking right next to the house just outside of the patio doors not that anyone would know they were there..and all the drainage pipes off each filter bay I could perge via four up right pipes near the pond straight into drainage pull one up then the water would be released into drainage..I learnt everything from a lady who has sadly passed now but her name was Gwen and she had kept koi longer than any of us will ever have the chance to because she was 84 when she sadly passed away..and she struggled to even get hold of koi in the UK when she first started the hobby of keeping koi.. and she didn't have water test kits or clays or anything like that back then but I could of drank water out of her koi pond because it looked like tap water and that's the first time I was told you don't look after fish you look after the water and the fish will be fine..she even new how to syringe a koi in the right place to cure a fish or treat a koi for what ever the problem.. but koi wasn't just fish to her they were her baby's unbelievable woman and sadly missed 🙏
Hi Andy Bernie here regarding your old dechlorinator that I asked about some while back, have you decided what you are going to do with it? I’m still interested 😊 Thanks Bernie
Hiya, funny you mentioned that as I was only looking at it yesterday and wondering why I'd not used it. Well I haven't used it for nearly 12 months so it's all yours if you want it... 😉👍
Hi Andy how you doing ? Just an update on the dechlorinator that you said I could have. How are we going to arrange for me to have. I’m open to your suggestion. Thanks Bernie
Hi Andy 👋 good to see you back, my pond temp is still only 10c about to give the filters a good clean today have got some of that horrible protein foam on the pond this morning, looking forward to more of your very informative and sometimes funny vds. Gwen 🧓
Thanks for that. Have you tried floating couple of dry crackers on the pond. That sometimes removes the foam and the fish can eat them if they don't just chuck them away after..😉👍
Well must admit that's a new one on me if it's not clear in a couple of days I'll go to the shops, can't really understand it, i was doing some work on the waterfall yesterday had everything turned off but when i finished and turned everything on that's when it started and the only thing i replaced was the old plastic box that took the water over the fall put in some slate to replace it, the waterfall looks loads better but the flipping pond looks like a bowl of washing up water. Filters cleaned so looks like i might be going crackers 😅
Hi Andy, could you help ? I'm looking for an air pump but they seem so expensive wondered if you could point me in the right direction please, where best to buy and what to look for thanks. Gwen 🧓
Hiya, you can get second hand units from ebay or Facebook market place. If your ever in Peng Koi, ask Steve as he sometimes has second hand stuff in..😉👍
