Thanks, that's really appreciated. Best way of learning making mistakes! Other people don't seem to notice them unless I point them out, but that's Ok. All a learning experience! Definitely proud 😁
@@NishikigoiwithOliver But you totally smashed it with the pond mate Looks totally epic 👍👍👍👍 If you get time Check out my misadventures on my channel 😂
Looks great so far mate, the only thing I would change is your lights sticking out, if you moved them higher, I can see them being in the way or get knocked into all the time, but other then that the build looks great, fair play
I was considering that, but I really wanted to aim for a medieval castle style of flaming torches, and these were the best thing. I've just re-worked the garden to provide a larger area to the side, and surprisingly haven't been knocked in to at all yet! Thanks for your comments though - Appreciated :)
Good idea to have an air gap with the cladding like you said. The wood will mellow and change colour with age. That is a good looking shower. Good job all round😎
That's what I was thinking. I know it'll silver over time. I have this treatex stuff, but it really darkens it all up. Going to do some more test runs, and once copings are on then compare colour wise.
Hey mate on you stones under the windows just lay some 10-15mm bricks splits first then your stone on that so it buts up to your timber yes you’ll have a larger gap underneath but it can’t be seen just some food for thought I’m a brickie btw
I purpousfully left a slightly larger gap, but we'll see. Ultimately, pretty hard to judge until the copings are here. True about it not being seen. I'll definitely give that some thought, thanks man :)
I'm going to have a 45 degree cut, and box that area off slightly, so the copings are even on either side, but it's boxed off (Yet accessible) - Just wanted the copings on first so I can get it done in the best way :)
Your hard work has paid off Oliver and looking forward to seeing the next phase of the build! I'm at the planning stage of a 3000 gallon pond and want to add windows similar to yours. Would you mind telling me what size/thickness you have gone for as I want to go big but worried how far I can push it.
Hey bud - So sorry for the late response. They're 31.5mm thick. I think they're 1970 x 1560. That allowed for 70mm overlap on both short edges for the framing, and then 70mm on the bottom edge. Honestly, 31.5mm is probably overkill for this. Anything above that though, and you're into 3 panes, and the magnification can be a bit weird! Approx £600 for both of these.
@@MrPleasureMaker sorry bud, you're completely right. It's 1940 x 750. Not sure how I got that other metric, I'd clearly had it written wrong! Just been out and measured for you. 50mm overlap on short edges and on the one long edge
@@MrPleasureMaker not a problem! I didn't, no. Just standard toughened. I got them through the company who did the fibreglassing which was Ez pond. They were approx £600 Inc vat. I don't know the specific company they use, sorry!
This is a mint pond is it your first ? Don’t worry about little mistakes on the cedar cladding once it weathers in you’ll never notice it’s a beautiful pond you built it proper so it only has to be done once 👍🏻
You can bed those copings with CT1. They'll never come off. That's what I'll be doing when I've made my mind up on which one I'm having. Sadly still waiting for the samples to arrive.
I was thinking that, but I'd like to be able to give them a 5 degree slope away from the pond, which would be far easier with some adhesive. I'll have a play around and see what's what. Samples can take a few days - I think it's royal mail normally. It'll be worth it, trust me! :)
Worth a fascia board on the top wood of the filter house? Save staining it. Just a thought mate. 🤘🏻 pond looks sick. Love that wood. Got a link to it? May build a filter house be nice to use that
They cost me £600 - They were from Alan at Ezpond, as they were doing the fibreglassing for me. I presume they get slightly cheaper rates because of the amount of glass they get made
Cladding is looking great Oliver. I noticed that you have a gutter running along the back of the roof. That gutter goes over the other side of your fence. Is that your land or a neighbour?
these videos are boring. instead of talking about crap youve done, do a sped up play by play of doing it… digging the hole… mortaring in the bricks/ concrete… installing the window.
