Skip Koka's thoughts and straight to the Deluge trick! - 6:40
Some fine MIDI controllers that I think go well with Deluge:
Faderfox PC4 - bit.ly/37tb3KC
Faderfox PC12 - bit.ly/3fiHUnR
Faderfox MX12 - bit.ly/3fkendK
Stuff that I often use with my Deluge:
Fireface UCX - bit.ly/30B5bxp
Empress ZOIA - bit.ly/2Yv0NgD
Faderfox UC44 - out of production, look at Faderfox MX12, it is a close alternative;
Strymon Zuma R300 - bit.ly/2zs8hZr

So glad you’re making these videos! I have a question, why deluge’s MIDI IN is conected to deluge’s MIDI out? Thanks!
@nikoladze
@nikoladze 4 года назад
Fabian De Leon hi! Thanks a lot. I’m sometimes using MIDI to control Deluge’s internal synth, when I also need to control other synths, so I compose with MIDI clips only and then control everything with MIDI clips, including Deluge. I’ll explain it in detail in two episodes from now.

Absolutely loved this video, super interesting thoughts on gear purchasing, Totally agree about learning your gear. The “stick of doom” is a great idea too! Also, the Deluge internal synth is really good, have you got the ‘Boards of Deluge’ banks? Astonishing what you can do with a simple 2 Osc digital synth and some amazing patch writing talent....which is kind of the point of you video....master your gear!!!! Subbed and look forward to the next one!

Yup. I went through the same thing after the deluge arrived. What to add to it. Currently I am in the "build my own midi controller" phase. Designing and fabricating the perfect stand for my deluge occupies plenty of head space. (a laptop stand from Ikea I found on the curb works best so far).

Good video, thanks. Also to include on the list is trying to improve and make better music by watching loads of youtube videos and reading synth forums. It's possible to do this for huge amounts of time then wonder why your progress is so slow! Great stick trick, very cool idea indeed 👍🤓

Well I was thinking it would be good to have curated Playlists of other interesting material you have stumbled upon (while your own stuff becomes monumental) and channels of high interests that you think your followers will enjoy as much as you. (I think this is done by just following however, not sure if you have to enable something in your settings so suscribers can see this) Hope your channel grow big, oh! and kudos for the commercials! (they are funny)

Mr. J. Thank you so much for the brilliant suggestion! I will do that in the best way I can. I promise in several episodes, I’ll first quote you and then do one entire bit about learning and getting inspired on RU-vid. I will also do my review of RU-vid reviewers. Thanks a lot!

Loved the video. The golden knobs trick is brilliant. What's the purpose of the midi in/out connecting to each other?
@nikoladze
@nikoladze 4 года назад
Thanks a bunch! Great question. I sometimes use multiple MIDI clips to control software synth with USB MIDI, and then I’m feeding back MIDI to Deluge so that I also play Deluge’s internal synth. It’s a hack, since at the moment Deluge has no option of outputting MIDI from synth and kit clips.

Awesome video! Great to see you connecting midi in and out. I do that too. Great 'hack' huh? I might have even been the first one to suggest it to the Deluge groups. I have a Faderfox FT3 and can map the buttons and knobs but can't map the faders. Can you please include this on your Faderfox video when you make it?
@nikoladze
@nikoladze 4 года назад
Oh thank you so much! FT3 is one of my favorites, I will absolutely include it if I make an episode about Faderfox. I actually want to visit him and present him as a great master. How are You using MIDI feedback?
@neilsheldrick8158
@neilsheldrick8158 4 года назад
@@nikoladze I'm not using midi feedback. The Deluge doesn't support it by itself. I have heard of people using an ipad or raspberry pi/arduino usb midi interface to get around it though.
@nikoladze
@nikoladze 4 года назад
neil ius oh, did you mean the stick hack? I thought you meant you were one of the first to suggest MIDI out into MIDI in. So it’s the stick then. ❤️ we think alike!
@neilsheldrick8158
@neilsheldrick8158 4 года назад
@@nikoladze I did mean the connecting the midi in and midi out. I don't use a stick. "Midi feedback" can also means something else and I thought that you meant it would be required for mapping the FT3.
@neilsheldrick8158
@neilsheldrick8158 4 года назад
@@nikoladze I connect midi in and midi out to get more modulation options on synth lanes and so that I can record the output of the arpeggiator. I key lock the scale then mash the audition pads to get a chord progression. Connect midi in to midi out and switch voices to arpeggiator (random) then record the output into a new midi track. Then add leading notes, connect repeated notes, make sure non-harmonic notes resolve to harmonic notes and that the third defines the mode in the last bar of a phrase. Pretty much how I write all my melodies now. I would love to hear how you use it too! ♥️
