"Don't spend money on stuff that you don't need!" What great advice, especially when you look at the pluses and minuses of things to equip your audience with the knowledge to let us decide what we might need. Thanks Jef!
I love your videos! You always show me something new. And I just apply that to the VSTs and plug-ins that I already have and I get so many new sounds and ideas. Keep it up!
Thanks for the overview Jef! It would be nice if Native Instruments made a new instrument called: Guitar Colors, imagine all different kinds of guitar soundscapes, amp feedback, reverse patterns, talkbox etc. So, basically the guitar version of piano colors. Hopefully, they're reading along ;-)
All I care from NI is that they bring out that Apple silicon support that they are sooooo behind. I know they promised it but considering they overall attitude towards costumers I choose to believe it when I see it rather then paying them any money again for a 20 yrs old code.
Thanks for this review. Last month (Aug 2022), I agonized over whether to buy Komplete 13 Ultimate Collector's Edition or wait until v14, whenever that might come. All I wanted initially was Arkis, but once I saw the bundle, I saw a lot of other stuff I wanted, such as Mallet Flux, Cremona Quartet, Session Guitars, and several more. V13 was on sale for 40% off, so I figured that I would buy it, then upgrade to v14 if it seemed worth it. I thought I would have to wait until at least November December, but a week or so after I received the hard drive for v13, v14 was announced. After I saw was in v14, I pre-ordered. I thought that buying v13 then upgrading to v14 would be about the same price as buying v14, or maybe 10 or 20% more. As it happened, I ended up paying 17% less, so buying v13 first was a good move. For me, the update price was really worth it for the new libraries, and applications I wanted: Komplete 7, Ozone 10, more session guitars, Lores, Playbox, Sequis, Ashlight, Action 2 Strings, Melted Vibes, Choir Omnia, East Asia, Session Bassist. It will take me the next 90 years to learn all this stuff.
Jeff, watching this cos i finally went Ultimate, ur a god at cinematic composition, but it still hurts my soul that you were using Push 2 and had Maschine Jam in a cupboard - Jam is a better Ableton controller than push since they released the Live 11 templates. I went so far out of my way to find a Jam, theres nothing else like it. You really should do a 'Maschine Jam in 2023' video, maybe try running Maschine with just the S61 Mk2 and the Jam since they are the best things for Maschine and both now discontinued. I have wanted to try that setup for years.
Nice Anomalie tshirt! Love NI software and hardware... currently have K13 CE, will wait a few months before upgrading to K14 CE (likely summer of sounds sale, where I'll be able to upgrade for 50%/250€). Nice overview, love your content Jef!
Jef, thanks for your great videos. Unfortunately I missed to order the update via the affiliate link. Therefore I used the Paypal link! Is also better than sending Mozartkugeln or Linzertorte ;-) In the meantime, I have also treated myself Maschine and now continue to learn from your videos and tutorials. Thanks for this great work you do.
Because I held off on all the releases and Expansions in between 13U and 14 (likely U again), I feel I’m in good shape to make this leap. Still will wait til SOS, because I’m scratching the surface on quite a bit of those. I need to upgrade my MBRP to have more onboard storage before any of this goes down anyway. Thanx again, Jef! 💯🎶🔥
It’s such a stupid system. NI essentially promotes people who own Komplete to not buy anything until the next Komplete drops cuz they don’t give any extra discounts based on how many instruments you already own. They need to really improve their model
@@krispybowgod9656 …or, since most VST folks run models that ain’t much better, you figure out what works best until either it doesn’t or another works better. Waves Update is a bigger sham than this, IMO, and now that Arturia does the V Col bundled with the FX suites, it’ll be a matter of time before that’s just as bad to some as NI is now to some. 🤷🏾♂️💯🤣
@@krispybowgod9656 I definitely think it should be tiered for what version you are upgrading from... would entice people to update more often I'm sure!
Nice Video Jef! You did a great job putting this info together! I like that you are taking an objective viewpoint on the product. That's refreshing! Subscribing now!
Hi there Jef. Just discovered your channel after updating to Komplete 14 Ultimate, (using Cubase Pro 12). I have been composing & producing music for a while professionally. I love your approach and exploration of software and how very versatile you are. Subscribed and ready to get on board to learn and develop my skills further. One question, I upgraded to Komplete 14 Ultimate (from 13 Ultimate), however on first load, Kontakt 7 didn’t load, it was still defaulting to K6? Any idea why this is?? Anyone who has done this and had the same issue, please could you let me know what I’ve done wrong. I simply just downloaded and installed 14Ultimate from the interface. Have a great day everyone! Thanks, Paul, U.K. Sheffield
I know this will be worth it when it’s on sale as a cross grade because I would have upgraded kontakt anyway plus the new included libraries especially all of the session guitarists which are my favorite vsts ever and expansions well worth the money
Great video as always BUT this is a review for Komplete 14 Ultimate NOT Komplete 14 standard. Quite a few instruments reviewed here are NOT included in the standard 14
@@sorry11303 Do it Jeffery! Get going with the free Komplete Start if you can't afford the big packages yet! www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/bundles/komplete-start/
@@jefgibbonsYea like komplete isn’t bad but compared to other synths it has a tinny tone to it and a lot of it is cheesy. How ever there are good sound in komplete 14 but as for me I would quickly have buyers remorse after buying it and you can not return software. As i stated before to a lot of the 3rd party stuff in kontakt actually sounds better. If I had a choice between komplete 14 and onmi sphere I would choose onmi the quality of their sounds is rich
@@jefgibbons Thank you! 🙏🏿 I've always liked the alliteration of my name 🙂 My DJ name used to be dreddiknight, then I changed it to Mr King, because it gave me an ego boost 😉
One thing I don't quite get...what instrument do you get by just buying Kontakt 7 Komplete, rather than the 14 bundles? I couldn't quite figure that out.
Love the channel Jef, been a lurker since I bought Komplete standard last year and seeing you jam out expansions and new instruments reminds me its the person that makes good music, not the gear (even though the NI sounds scream inspiration). I was wondering if you know if NI does staged time zone releases or if there is a flat time it will release world wide. Thanks for all you do for us.
@@jefgibbons Oh jeez another 12 hours for me then haha. Feels like when I was waiting for midnight releases of video games as a kid all over again 😂. Thanks again
This will be the first Komplete I haven’t upgraded to. I have komplete ultimate collectors edition 13 but there really is nothing in this update that warrants me paying $796 au
@Jef Gibbons great vid as always. I own K13 CE and I plan to upgrade to the top trier of Komplete 14. I plan on getting the MK3 at the same time. Are you running in Rosetta or Native with your MK3? I have a M1 Max so I'm just trying to get a feel for how things will work for me.
Great info, But NI is a Nightmare without iLock. Thanks but no thanks. First and foremost: Could you please help us get NI to use iLock or simpler licensing method because we have too many large files on drives. . Please help us otherwise it is a waste having so many good sounds that we cannot reach or access at will. Most of us are upgrading our apple computers with smaller drives: it becomes a NIGHTMARE keeping up with NI licenses limited to 2 computers...
So lets say you have just around $400 Would you upgrade from komplete select 13 to komplete 14 standard or rather upgrade from Cubase 12 elements to Cubase 12 Pro. >?
What features are drawing you to Cubase Pro? If you need vari-audio for tuning it is fantastic… (on vocals) but I wouldn’t go to Cubase Pro for the instruments or fx, k14 would be better there… are you recording more audio or more beats/ virtual instruments type stuff?
Can people remember the upgrade discounts and when they come? From memory they run a sale in early December that can go up to 50% off on the upgrade from CE13 to 14?
There are definitely people out there that have spreadsheets for this kind of thing! The main one that seems to come around is the Summer of Sound sale... can't remember what happens on Black Friday after a release... anyone?
@@parboilrice Backing up Raees on this. I got into NI hardware/software in early 2019. Black Friday has been hardware/Komplete bundle discounts that had me wishing I had known about them before. Unfortunately, I didn't know about the Summer of Sound 50% off Komplete upgrades until weeks after it happened. Upgraded from Select (came with the S61 MkII keyboard) to Standard at regular price. Then waited around for Black Friday, was bummed about no Komplete upgrade discounts, found out about Summer of Sound, had no patience to wait seven months and upgraded to 12CU the expensive way. After buying a few post K13 app releases, I realized I needed to decide on waiting for K14 and get two years of app releases or buy just buy apps I want one off vs. paying twice. Skipped the last two Summer of Sound upgrades expecting K14 this fall and here it is. Now the real test of patience for $250 next June of $500 tomorrow. Another word of advice in case K13 was your first bundle version, even if you wait for Summer of Sound and get 50% off next June, you will only get the apps you'd get buying K14 tomorrow. Anything released after tomorrow will be part of K15 (two years again?).
I am looking to sell my KOMPLETE 14 ULTIMATE DL (Download). I paid $880 total for the package of all the instruments, i was wondering if 1. It is possible to sell it to someone and 2. Is anyone here looking to buy it off of me ? The Komplete Ultimate regular price goes for $1600 CA. If anyone can help me with some info that would be awesome, thanks for your time, take care.
@@jefgibbons I got notification in my mail for a discount on upgrade from Komplete 13 to 14 and then I have upgrade path for ozone advanced... Seems more convenient and more bang for a buck to get it in a bundle 😅😁🤔
@@DaveChipsIt's not Ozone advanced in Komplete though... just the basic things in Ozone 10 Standard. So it still might be better if you really don't need the stuff in K14. But if Ozone Standard is enough for you K14 makes a lot of sense!
@@jefgibbons I'm basically in need only for kontakt and ozone. Feel like those two in separate buy come close to price of komplete 14. Also since I have K13 there should be some discounts on a package wich might be decent. And after that just a matter of time when izotope is gonna do some black friday/cyber Monday type deals for a crossgrade to advanced version.
@@DaveChips Sounds good Dave, I'm working on a Kontakt video... should be up in a day or two, so make sure to check that before you buy it... just to make sure it's what you want. What are you hoping to get from it? Do you have an old version?
KONTAKT and KOMPLETE KONTROL sucks ! Ancient software with endless issues. Interface unreadable, not scalable, with major features missing. These two are the worst program for music production I have ever seen. KONTAKT HAS TO BE REBUILD FROM THE GROUND-UP !
