Last year we released two videos on how I fold and organize my fabric stash. You loved it, but many of you wanted to just see the folding.
So I've recreated a supercut of both videos, that gets right down to how to fold your fabric so it can be stored vertically so you can see everything you have at a glance, and can fit the most fabric in possible in your space.
With this method I am easily able to fit 12.5 yards in basket the size of a shoe box. Plus everything looks neat, tidy and beautiful. Watch the whole video, or check out the time codes below to get to the section you want to watch.
How to fold your stash:
Fat eighths 1:17
Fat quarter 2:12
Half yard 3:14
One yard 4:02
Fat quarter Bundles 6:06
Applique pieces 7:04
Large cuts of fabric 8:34
Garment fabric 10:46
Project organization 12:57
Here's the baskets and storage containers I used in the video ...
Y Weave Small (used for fat eighths, fat quarters and half yards): www.target.com/p/y-weave-smal...
Y Weave Medium (used for one yard cuts): www.target.com/p/y-weave-medi...
Scrapbook cases (used for project storage ... this is an affiliate link): amzn.to/2QdZC1O

Charlene Kalectaca agree with you completely. To think people are so critical of someone who is being kind to teach us things for free no less just baffles me. I appreciate all she teaches us. We women are supposed to raise each other up not tear into each other.

@@charlenekalectaca218 right! We all don't like the way everyone teaches. In other words, not everyone meshes together. So, move on to someone else - don't judge! I can't do what Stephanie does so.... There are a few other channels that I watch and the tone of voice I find annoying, but I watch anyways, because they have great content! 😉😊

hi, happened upon this video while i was looking for something else. of course, i stopped looking for whatever it was i was looking for because this was fantastic. i don’t have a lot of fabric but what i do have took over a drawer in my hemnes dresser. i took it all out, refolded most to be 9” across and my small scraps i made just a little smaller than the one pack i own of a fat quarter. amazing! all my fabric now fits inside one shelf of the raskog cart and my scraps fit inside one of the dollar trees soda can organizers. thanks to you, i now have an empty drawer that i can now use for my other items. thank you so much!

Hi Stephanie! I am a dedicated & loyal fan of yours! I really have enjoyed all your wonderful Tutorials on your awesome RU-vid Channel. I love your Quilt Patterns and have bought a few of them as a kit. I still love “Medallion Star” though. Thank you for all that your Team & you do for us. I truly appreciate it. I use the Target baskets you recommended to us and now I store 80% of my stash in them. I just love them and use them all over my house in the cabinets, drawers and pantry. Have a great rest of the weekend,

I just wanted to let you know that this video prompted me to unpack all my bins and drawers and get all my fabric where I can see it. I sorted it all by yardage so I could tell at a glance which fabrics were enough for backings, etc. I cut all the smaller pieces left over from projects into strips and squares. I used the baskets like you did and have it all sorted on one wall of my sewing room now on open shelves. I made 4 quilts in the last month just out of fabric I already had. I even found material that my mother who died in 1999 had been sewing together in strips apparently to make a quilt. I was able to make two small quilts for my two granddaughters (who are in their 30's) out of this and they will each have a quilt from their great grandmother. Thank you.

I loved your original video and followed your lead organizing 8 large drawers of fabric. I am still enjoying all that effort. It made my fabric so much easier to see and use. This video is a great way to access all that info. Thank you and prayers for you and your family to remain healthy and safe.

Thanks sew much. I couldn't remember how to fold and store fat eighths and it was the first to come up. If I've used some of a fat quarter, I cut a Fath and store the rest in a scrap bin.

Iv been hearing the word fat quarter in alot of overseas sewing videos. Its a term we dont have in sewing. Can someone please enlighten me as to what a fat quarter is. When it comes to fabric we work in half or a meter but never heard of fat quarter

Loved this video. I am an avid cross stitch linen and quilt fabric horder. Can you explain how to fold a fat half of linen which is 27" x 36"? Thanks! Love what you do!
@QuiltAddictsAnonymous
@QuiltAddictsAnonymous 4 года назад
I would fold the 27” in thirds to get it to 9” wide then fold in half twice like the one yard cuts.

These bins are pretty ones found at Target. But often you can also find cute ones at your local dollar store. These are stored on shelves so they are easy to get at!
