When dealing with keyboards I'm always interested in how easy it is to layer multiple sounds quickly. This video shows two ways the Kronos makes it fast to come up with new layered sounds.

Joe, I always enjoy your videos man. I got the Nautilus 61 mainly to sample my other synths and stop going through plugin folders for Pianos and EPs when I need them. I am curious to your ear, if you were to mix the Kronos with other gear/tracks if you would use the MFX & TFX? I feel synth parts sound better with those 2 efx off but Dynamic turned on mixing wise. The EP1 & SGX 2 stuff sounds ok with the MFX & TFX on though. What do you think?

What OS version added this feature? What happens to the effects when you add 2 sounds together? Which sound’s MFX/TFX are used? What happens if the 2 sounds each used more than half of the 12 IFX to begin with?

I’m not sure when it was added, I’ve only had this for a few weeks, I assumed it was always like this. I haven’t looked into how many efx get used or disabled based on layering yet.

Which do you like better, Kronos, montage or Fantom

Not sure honestly, they all can get the job done. I think the Fantom has the best GUI overall though.

Which board do you like most for an all around board.. Kronos - Nord - Montage ?

For all around (most sound variety) probably the Kronos or Montage. I haven't had the Montage for a while so I can't compare it directly to the Kronos but both have quite a bit of sounds in various categories. The Nord has great sounds with plenty of hands on control just not as many sound options. The Kronos and Montage are also easier to navigate when looking for sounds by type/category.

Why didn’t you use the actual faders to adjust the sounds volume instead of using the faders on the touch screen?

No particular reason, I just wanted to use the touch screen.

You can layer more sounds in the Combination mode.

I've never seen the "layer" button. Are you using a "Prog"? Ah, now I see you are at first. I've always done my layering in Combi mode. I have an old 1st gen Kronos. I usually find a prog that I want to use as a start and copy it to a blank Combi and I make sure I click the Only EFX used button. Thanks for this video. Now I have to find out what OS you're using.

Yeah I'm in Prog mode, that's where you can get to the "quick layer" button. In Combi mode it's just the normal picking of sounds for separate channels to layer. I'm not sure if it is unique to the Kronos 2 or not.
