•Sequencer Quick Record
-From Program or Combi Mode press ENTER and Sequencer RECORD buttons
-Once sounds and settings are imported to Sequencer, the recorder and metronome are armed. Press START to commence recording. You will by default get a 2 bar count-in
-If you commit a mistake, press the COMPARE button as a one-step Undo
-To record a new track, ensure that the Multi Record box is deselected.
-Use the Copy from Program command to add more tracks
-To repeat, copy, erase, and do various editing tasks, go to the Track Edit Tab
-Rename your Song
-Sequencer Data is volatile and resides in RAM, if the song is not saved prior to shutting down the Kronos, this data will be erased. You must go to Disk Mode and Save Sequence to save the data as a .SNG file.

Hey, Frances, thanks for this vid, man. I've owned a Kronos 2 61 for a few years, but have only used it for live gigs. NOW, however, I'd like to explore the sequencer feature, so thanks again for this vid.

Good video by the way. It’s an easy way to get people started. What I don’t understand is listening to people saying that the sequencer is a pain to use in the Krono‘s. It’s no different than any other sequence or in any other keyboard that I’ve ever used, except the Roland Fantom 88, which has a step sequencer which is total BS. They have some incredible sounds, but many of the features from the G series and X series took a step backwards. In any case, the sequencer really isn’t any different than using a DAW. With every piece of hardware or software, there’s always going to be some sort of learning curve. If you go into sequencer mode especially, you choose your sound and record and you do that as many times to fill up as many tracks as you want to in both midi and audio. Add any effects you want to, change the levels to where you like and send it on its merry way to being a wave file. I do think it’s counterproductive to not permanently save the file to disk as you are recording it. May be a save every one minute five minute 10 minute whatever. Because I could see especially a newcomer who didn’t know recording an entire song, thinking the keyboard is recording it to disk and then coming back in that song being completely gone from not only the keyboard, but partially from your own memory. LOL. Which happens to me a lot, If I don’t record a song minutes after it’s invention in my brain. LOL. Even back to my Ensoniq ESQ1 days, sequences really haven’t changed much in keyboards. Other than the aforementioned above. What I love about this keyboard and was furious when I found out that the newest Fantom Didn’t have proper sequencing... is it allows me to get my ideas down quickly, whether it be midi, audio or a combination of both. At which point I can transfer Everything to a DAW to either continue on that songs journey or master it. It’s nice having that speed of operation, other than the loading sequence, as opposed to a DAW… Where you have to load this in that and find the plug-ins that you want to use and by the time you get to all of that your idea may have flown the coop in your brain. Which is what I always loved even back in the ESQ and M1 days. I had actually had a custom open Labs keyboard built before they went all software and thought that it would be incredible if a keyboard manufacturer got together with Apple or Microsoft for windows and through a version of the latest iOS in their keyboard that would allow you to basically have the DAW in the keyboard itself. Being able to load up all the plug-ins and everything else, which is what is incredible about the open labs keyboard. But again, you load the DAW, then the plug-ins, then the FX and whatever else you want to bring in and it takes a little more time then having a record button at your fingertips unless you leave your DAW open all the time in which case it would be the same. Quickness in creativity has always been my goal. The quickest route to record fleeting ideas, in order to keep it fresh in your mind and get it down before you may forget.

Hi! I need to play a simple piano track, what I would have to inport into Cubit. I don't have Cubit, I only have Kronos, and I must record piano track on Kronos, and transfer to studio. Is it possible to use a recorded and saved Wav, or sng file in Cubit e.g.? Thanks!

Yes, you can pan and adjust volumes either by creating control change messages or adjusting pan and channel volume as you’re recording.

This is why I’m thinking about getting a kronos
@mariog1051
@mariog1051 5 лет назад
My advice as a recent Kronos buyer is not to buy it. It's nice, but Korg is dragging to the 2020s paradigms of operation that were ok in the 90s. For example, Songs and Programs (sounds) are treated differently as Songs must be saved on disk before shutting down the Kronos, while Programs are in an internal memory (which is not the hard disk). This means that if you save a Song to disk but you move or change a Program being used in a Song, the result when you will load the Song from disk will be unpredictable, depending on by what Program the original Program was overwritten. The logical behaviour would instead be that a Song should contain the Programs it uses, separate from the global ones. This implementation was probably done to save memory back in the 90s when Trinity was introduced.

@Murada I bought a Kronos and regret it. Way overpriced for what it is, fundamentally a stale user experience with lots of limitations that smell of 1995 (like short file names to say one, or banks being limited only to EXIs or HD1). Unfortunately it's very difficult to admit failure and very few people look honestly at the Kronos recognising that it has flaws.
@mariog1051
@mariog1051 4 года назад
@Murada I want files, folder and tags like in 2020, not banks and patches like if it was 1979. A song must be a single file with all necessary data embedded into it. I don't want to take care of technical details of remembering where a program is when I'm making music. A computer like the Kronos has lots of memory and should remember it for me. I also use Reason, a Reason song is a file that contains everything necessary to play the song, including effects, instruments and tracks all in a single file. Also the effects section of the Kronos is laughable. Why should I have only 12 effects?

If I have a split can I record the left end of the keyboard on one track and the right end on another?
@narfsounds

Just record it as normal in one track first then duplicate the track on a second track. Delete the top notes from the first track and the bottom notes on the second track using Track Edit.

Ensure that you save the song in disk. Save Seq. Load the song to the same sequencer slot. In sequencer select Add To Setlist.

Cool. How to edit bassline notes if suppose only two notes played wrong in pattern or in a sequence. Like I want to delete those two notes extra or add velocity to them or need to move those notes in to the grid. Like it is very much possible in Roland Fantom in a piano roll.

Wouldn't it be much simpler to just select your sounds from SEQUENCER mode once you get there instead of bouncing back and forth between program and sequence modes?
