I needed a small midi keyboard for producing music while traveling or when working with clients outside of the studio. The Korg nanoKEY2 slim line midi keyboard is the perfect keyboard for my needs. I've had other keyboard before, but the size of this thing is awesome! It's very lightweight and can fit practically anywhere. In this review and demo, I sample some real-time playing so you can see what it's like to use this keyboard to develop a melody line. This keyboard even has velocity sensitivity! I was surprised that it had this feature, but it works and I'm excited that it exists.

Something that I'd like you to know, the keys are plastic and not rubber like the control pads. It's not a bad thing but it's worth noting. I thought they'd be soft, and playing this thing in a library might be heard by some studying neighbors. That information aside, at around $69, I recommend this product for producers who need an extra keyboard to travel with (or use when collaborating in the studio).
What are your thoughts on using midi keyboard? Should they be semi-weighted or will something like this be good enough to get the job done? Please comment below!
