Krank Krankenstein Rig! Dimebag Darrell's Amp & Cab 

Dime was using Randall in Damage Plan also. He switched to Krank 6 months before he passed and he was using the Revolution Head and Cabs. He gave the final thumbs up on Krankenstein a few days before he passed.

I always loved Dimes tone.

I got an original one as well as the 50W jr. Never selling. When Krank was in business I remember seeing the prototype in the warehouse here in Chandler, it was all silver tolex and sharpie writing on the faceplate. Another cool thing is if you pull it out of the shell it has “Dime Lives” written on the chassis! 😎

Isn’t this amp the only Tube Amp that Dime endorsed? The Randall GT100 (the main amps Dime used in Pantera) were solid state amps

Fair review for sure! I have the Krankenstein and the Krankenstein + with the Krank Dimebag cab. I tend to use my + a bit more these days when I do play. I push mine with a TS9. I use TC Electronic G System for effects, Rackmount Decimator through front and back with a BBE Sonic Maximizer. Never chased the Dime tone with it like some do (I can get it to do that lol) but hands down the best rig I have ever had! If I get around to retubing my + I'd love for you to give it a review!

I won this half stack. I fucking love it. Head pairs well with other cabinets and heads pair real well with the cabinet. Also dialing in a tone does take some time but once you got it dialed in your good to go.

Thanks for the shout out. I typically have mine through a KSR’s cab with G 1265 speakers. I also have the crank cab, but I prefer the KSR’s with the 65s.

You inspired me to dial in my Krank Rev today. I totally need the gain up to 3 o'clock for crushing tone. All other settings I dialed similar to your settings. I'm off work as I was out late at the Megadeth concert in Hamilton last night. Wicked video bro. Love the Krankenstein. Dime is a legend 🤘🖤

This amp sounds great because it’s not overly gained out like those other amps. Instead it got a mid range boom. . In this demo it sounds like my old 6505+. It s definitely a meaty tone.

Hopefully you can demo the REV1. I really liked that amp but sadly had to sell it. I'd love to see another amp through the Krank cab just for a comparison. Great video!

I bought one this last weekend off reverb and this head is awesome, i also downloaded the original user manual and it goes through a lot of cool features. It aslo has dimes different settings on it.

He actually never toured with that amp. He was using the REV 1 while they was finishing the Krankenstein. He was killed before getting to use the final product

Those Texas heats have massive magnets! Or use to have massive magnets, they are listed at 38 ozs. I know another eminence model speaker that had the magnet size shrunk over the years.

I've said it before but fuck, still trying to figure out all these years later why these were trashed so badly when they were newly released.. I mean, *nobody* liked them. But no, people were still high on Dual Rectumfriers.

Did you check if the Cab has the original Eminence Texas Heat speakers..?

a bit off topic but would be cool if you had Engl Savage MK1 to compare with 2. I got Brainworx plugin and tried to set it the way you do the MK2 but it`s too different apparently

I have this amp, it can sound like ass real quick, but also lot of good stuff. The thing is it doesn’t sound great at low volume and most tube amps don’t. Was my first tube amp, had friends that had tube amps, they sounded still better than this at low volume. My buddy had a mesa boogie it did sound better at more loud bedroom if that’s a thing…one thing for me that changed the sound for better was the cab. Lol! I was younger, couldn’t afford a good cab. I would use my cousins cab after, and it was such a change. But I still had to push that volume knob. Got a lot of calls from neighbors and cops showing up to my house, but did sound amazing loud. Still own this amp, I’ll never sell it, I’ll get a torpedo two notes, and play it through that soon. I got a tube amp because my other guitar player at the time also go one, his sounds good at lower, but more mud, i couldn’t get mine to hit that spot where it break up enough, or saturation I guess you call it. It did sound great when we jammed in the garage, we both have diff amps, but both sounded so much better. Played this at shows and it speakers up!
