An amazing American song. Kris Krisofferson always said almost anyone sang his songs better than he did. Not so. One of my favorites., sung by an enormously talented singer/songwriter. RIP, Kris.
I know. And this year these words are terrifyingly accurate. BUT ....we are about to elect the first woman as the president of these United States ! And all of us will keep our freedom 💙
My year of birth and I was so honored beeing at a gig of his in 2017 in Hannover / Germany and when he entered the stage he touched my hand and the organizer of the concert asked me to help out in security after the gig and go a nice signed picture from Kris for that!
Say goodbye to the man with that twinkle in his eyes, the smile, that voice that gave Janis her Bobby McGee, the one who sang 'Help me make it Through the Night & Sunday morning coming Down'. Admired by Cash & Dylan, stalked by Janis & Babs, but never snared. The Highwaymen drop another Golden leaf from their tree. 🍂 Farewell Kris, we'll still hear your voice, long after your sun went down. 🌅🕊️🌞
I had never heard this song until about 15 years ago and was unfamiliar with Kris Kristofferson. I was a child of the '50s and 60's though I was born in 1946. I am sorry to hear of Kris's passing. He was very talented, and I love hearing his music through RU-vid. It led me to listen to the Highwaymen. Though I have been a Johnny Cash fan since the early 1960's. Rest Easy😢💔❤
I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday morning, than to listen to the music of man that has given God's people so much joy. Kris, you and Waylon, Willie, Tom Petty, and other, fine American song writers and artists, are maybe one of the only reasons for anyone to claim America, today. I read that you took some grief from your family, for not staying in the military and making it a career. The reality though, is that music is the thing that has a lasting impact on people. It doesn't cost millions of lives, and it inspires, in an HONEST way. God Bless brother....
Yes... And this year, 2024, his words are terrifyingly accurate. BUT ....we are about to elect the first woman as the president of these United States ! And all of us will keep our freedom 💙
Lyrics: Busted flat in Baton Rouge, headin' for the trains, Feelin' nearly faded as my jeans. Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained, Took us all the way to New Orleans. Took my harpoon out of my dirty red bandana And was blowin' sad while Bobby sang the blues, With them windshield wipers slappin' time and Bobby clappin' hands we finally sang up every song That driver knew. Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose, And nothin' ain't worth nothin' but it's free, Feelin' good was easy, Lord, when Bobby sang the blues, And buddy, that was good enough for me, Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee. From the coalmines of Kentucky to the California sun, Bobby shared the secrets of my soul, Standin' right beside me through everythin' I done, And every night she kept me from the cold. Then somewhere near Salinas, Lord, I let her slip away, She was lookin' for the love I hope she'll find, Well I'd trade all my tomorrows for a single yesterday, Holdin' Bobby's body close to mine. Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose, And nothin' left was all she left to me, Feelin' good was easy, Lord, when Bobby sang the blues, And buddy, that was good enough for me. Good enough for me and Bobby McGee.
Happy Birthday Kris Kristoffersonxx...Kris Kristofferson's birthday is the 22nd June the same as mine...so sadly there was fake news wishing Kris a Happy Birthday on an incorrect date all over the internet. 3 months ago.....hence the belayed Happy Birthday but I am glad I did it in retrospect as the summer of 2024 was his last ...so sad.....
The man can do.what ever he sets his mind to. Highly intelligent, good looking, flies helicopters , a veteran, Rhodes Scholar, Graduates university. The list goes on. He is a giant amongst Men. ☮️☮️☮️
Yes, he was. Also, was to go to West Point to teach English. Instead, he went to Nashville to write songs. Kris put his heart into every song he wrote. I wish I had at least one chance to have met him. He's also a sexy man who played in a lot of movies.
@@OIII-IOOO who is Pearl? If you had said Janis Joplin I would have believed you. But, Kris wrote that song and he put his heart and soul into that song.

I never thought Kris had the best voice but check out his SMILE 😃. Great song 🎶 writer and stage presence. After I saw A Star is Born, I totally fell for him.🥰🔥May he continue on his journey for a long time. God Bless you Kris!🙏💯
Not many words left that hasn't already been said. But in my words he's one of the greatest songwriters there is. Plus the voice is unmistakably great. Still grateful he still with us. Love him and his great career.
Hi Biggest Fan, I imagine you are in mourning today as I am. I heard the sad news late last night, Ontario time. Kris was one of my musical heroes and I watched every film he made. Take comfort in his music as I am today. You met him right? Lucky you! Hugs from another Big Fan...

There is no one like Kris Kristofferson. He has that unique voice, the sound and the look. He was also great in the 1976 version of A Star is Born - the best one!
The first time I heard this song I was 16 and it was Janis Joplin who sung. Only many years after that I discovered Kris singing it...what can I say? Two completely different styles but both with the amazing lyrics of Kris...I wish they would sing it together! Crazy!
Believe it or not, the first time I heard this song that has become my anthem, it was by Gordon Lightfoot! Great song! Best version, obviously, Kris!!!
Rest in peace.... What a huge loss for his family, friends, all us fans, and all who had the honor to work with Kris. His music got me through some dark times.....
Just heard the sad news about the death of this amazing artist...my heart bleeds for the loss of such a music icon...an amazing singer songwriter ,aviator and army helicopter pilot.. a Rhodes Scholar from the University of Oxford, an Army captain , very handsome and importantly a humanitarian.....Rest easy RIP Kris Kristofferson..how great you were in a million ways....thanks also For The Good Times which I have recorded with you and is linked in the comment above....
Gosh, he was so handsome...so rugged and manly and a kind, gentle spirit. ❤❤❤ Loving all the tributes to this talented man who left us his beautiful songs.
No dubious professions. Just talking about life experiences in general. If you don't get it hearing him sing, you may find it somewhere else. Music has always been a big part of my life, and I just really love Kris and his songs, those he sang, and those he wrote for others.

Rest in peace Kris ❤ I remember in the 70's MPLS He, Rita Coolidge, Buffy St Marie, et. al., sang for a benefit concert and had us up on stage Heart of the Earth Survival School student's, those were the days. RIP...
Between him and Willie Nelson, they were and STILL are the most prolific and greatest writers of USA Country music who ever lived in my humble opinion. THANK GOD WE STILL HAVE BOTH OF THEM!! ANNND that's in no way detracting from all of our other great writers of USA Country music either for example the wonderful Carter Family. I just hope they both go on to write another few songs and they'll go STRAIGHT TO NUMBER 1 on the Country music charts too.
