Thank you, not only for your reply but also for your tutorial OASYS DVD that I have used extensively as a reference on many steps as I am learning to walk through the forest of possibilities of OASYS. Any chance I could contact you sometime in the future through some more private channel if I am in need of advice?I will most likely need some recommendations from someone as knowledgeable as you are. Thank You.
Hello, Again, a very well done and usefull video. I was looking for a tutorial for helping a guy on a french forum : he want the Kronos to work as a looper. It would allow him to record his song easily, based on a bass/drums loop, and switch instruments without any stop, while recording all that stuff. I suppose your video will help him. Thanks.
Yeah, it should be. (I haven't tested that part.) Press the MULTI REC checkbox. For all the sounds you want recorded, press ARM on that track (options are PLAY, MUTE, ARM).
Very useful video..Thank you....But When i change combis after making this arrangement , im missing seamless ..any idea to preserve the smooth transitions between combis when RT Karma is on ? Thanks in advance.
Thank you Mike ! Exactly what I needed : being able to change midi channel while recording. I guess this method is limited to 4 midi channels (which is enough for my performance of "I want to break free") isn’t it ? Do you think there is another way to do it ? It is so strange we can’t change midi channel while recording :/
You could activate even more tracks/channels by using the virtual pads. Each of the 8 virtual pads can play a note or chord, and be assigned to its own channel (so up to 8 more channels!). Easiest way, for me, is to use a second keyboard to make the channel changes. You can arm all 16 tracks that way. Just for yucks, I'll mention that I can plug multiple keyboards routed into Kronos's MIDI in, playing multiple Kronos sounds. That way, I can play different boards with both hands. Really handy for keyboards with arpeggiators! I have a MIDI Solutions Quadra Merge box for that. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MIDImerge4--midi-solutions-multivoltage-quadra-merge-4-in-1-out-midi-merge-box
@@scoopicman Thank you for your additionnal answer. I never really used the pads for now. I made a few tests after your message. Do you confirm that each pad, though enabeling to play on any channel, can only play one chord which is not as versatile as what I am looking for ? I also tried the "chord mode" but it only plays the fundamental version of the chord as far as I could notice. In the second part of your answer you mentionned the usage of a second midi device (keyboard) to "make the channel changes". Do you really mean using it to change the channels or to assign it to play on another specific channel which can't be changed during recording once it has been assigned ? Thanks again :) !
@@Kitebrice Yes, I confirm different MIDI channels for each pad. Go to GLOBAL - MIDI - EXTERNAL2 page. As for external keyboard/device, you can change the channel on the external device. Kronos has the ability to Arm (Record mode) 20 tracks at once - 16 MIDI tracks, plus 4 audio tracks. In that case, you can play as many parts as you want and have it all be recorded. As long as you have OVERDUB set in recording Preferences, you can already have data on the tracks and not erase it. When overdubbing onto an existing part, I use the COMPARE (undo) button, to undo a screw up.
@@scoopicman hi Mike. Sorry I was not clear. Do you confirm that using the virtual pads is limited to 8 chords ? 8 chords that can be played from diffraction channels but only 8 chords not more. Which can be quite limiting. In my case, your solution with Karma is perfect but I was just considering a future need of more than 4 channels.
I also found this technique : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DdfxOPe-xBM.html (watch from 22:40) which enables to play various sounds while staying on the same midi channel by using the Vector Joystick. This enables to "change sounds" during recording
Did you uncheck the Module A box, as shown at 4:02? Are you dong this in Combi or Sequence mode? If Combi, was it an existing Combi; which one? Just making sure it wasn't a pre-existing setup. There is an older video that shows it a little differently: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2OaglzcDoy0.html You can also check the PDF explanation: www.synthify.com/Kronos_SW_dev/Kronos%20Karma%20Combi%20Switching%20Technique.pdf
