KUBOTA L2501. WORLDS GREATEST TRACTOR FOR BRUSH HOGGING.

I use my Kubota L2501 to brush hog our 100 acres of pasture. The pasture contains a lot of steep, off camber terrain. Also a lot of trees that it has to get around with a tractor any larger.
This Kubota L2501 tractor is the gear drive version with the ag style tires. Makes it the greatest tractor in the world for this application. Very pleased with it.

@tractortalkwithgary1271
@tractortalkwithgary1271 Год назад
@@baucom93 , if a tractor still pushes you forward when you disengage the clutch, you must need a clutch adjustment. On these machines, when you depress the clutch pedal, you disengage the power to the drive and also the p.t.o. If you are running it. That is a great feature for me as I don’t have a slip clutch on my brush hog. It saves from shearing bolts. Thanks for watching

@@tractortalkwithgary1271 I'm trying to decide between the HST and the DT. I would rather have the DT but I will be brush hogging and finish mowing my yard mainly. My concern with the DT is mower/hog stopping when changing directions.... Unfortunately for this reason I'm also considering the Massey Ferguson 1825e because of the live pto feature. What in your your experience in this concern can you share with me. Thank you for your responses.
@tractortalkwithgary1271
@tractortalkwithgary1271 Год назад
@@baucom93 , one of my biggest concerns was the dealership. It came down to John Deere or Kubota. I had no experience with the other dealers, but had experience with both of these dealers. Very good experiences. The gear drive on my L2501 was $1500 cheaper than the hydrostatic and the ag tires were $1000 cheaper, both of which work better for me. Whatever route you choose to go with when buying your tractor, I would suggest that you spend the time you need with the dealers. Ask a lot of questions . This is a major purchase and you need to make the right choice for you. I wish you all the best.

My neighbors on all sides do very little if anything for thistle control. I hate using chemicals and I want the thistles kept under control, so I have to mow. It is a hot, dirty job on an open station tractor but it has its rewards. Thanks for watching Bryce

That Kubota is a pretty nice tractor but the 2520 with an 84 inch would mow a lot of pasture. 👍🙂

@tractortalkwithgary1271 2 года назад
My 3 pt mower was down so I drug out the old IH stalk chopper. I used the 2520 on that. It doesn't do nearly as nice of a job but it does knock the weeds down. Problem is, I did the front part of the pasture with that mower and I have to drive through that to get to where I am working now. I have to look at the ratty looking job I did with that compared to the much nicer looking mowing now. The part that no-one else sees.

Gary, if you were buying today, would you buy the new L02 tractor (2502, 3302, etc.) which has a electronic PTO engagement or buy a L2501 with a clutch to help ease the pto in softly? Thanks
@tractortalkwithgary1271
@tractortalkwithgary1271 Год назад
I am very old school. I grew up with all the mechanical engagement only. For me, the more simple and basic, the less to go wrong with. If you will be upgrading or trading for something different, say a cabbed tractor, the newer style will more than likely trade better.

Hey Gary my husband just bought a L2501 gear drive. He's run equipment and tractors all his life. Just not PTO driven empliments.He has a question about bushhogging. While running the tractor he has some places where he has to back up several times. His concern is burning up the clutch. Was wondering how you run it when backing up and pulling foward. Foot throttle ect. Thanks
@tractortalkwithgary1271
@tractortalkwithgary1271 Год назад
I don’t do all that much backing. On the rare occasion that I do, I just make sure to come to a complete stop before shifting into reverse and backing up. If he is concerned about burning up the clutch, that tells me he is a careful operator and will do just fine. Thanks for the question and I hope this helps. He is going to love his L2501

Not for my application. The 25 hp works just fine in everything that I use mine for. When I bought it I was concerned that 25 hp would be lacking. It just never disappoints me. Sine all 3 of the tractors in the “L” series are the same exact tractor just with different engines up front. The 25 hp is by far the cheapest and most economical to operate. No DPF filter or burn cycle to contend with. I simply have no regrets buying this tractor. It is an absolute delight to drive. Thanks for watching. I hope I have answered your question.👍
