Trying to better show how to use a bobby pin to tension a Kwikset Smartkey Gen 3. It's hard to describe how to do this to someone without showing them. So here it is. If you have any specific questions about this please leave them in the comments below. I will try my best to answer them or maybe shoot another video.
Thanks for watching. If you enjoy my videos, please like and subscribe.

Thanks Charles. I don't run into these very often but I'm going to practice just in case. Just have to remember to take my micrometer to the dollar store and make sure I get the right size of bobby pins. Lol

A year later and just stumbled on this. Looking at picking this up as one of my brown belt locks so this explanation was great!

Great video. But I do love how the clips and stuff start jumping off lol that’s how it is in real life, just funny

With how long this takes and how sophisticated the tools need to be, I'd hope a lock picker trying to get into a house would go for someone with an easier lock instead

I don't think we have too many criminals picking locks in the U.S. Most just break a window or some other easier method of entry.

Charles Builds Crap yeah I’m sure that’s a very very slim number of anyone trying to get in through any kind of lock manipulation. It’s to East to smash an grab. No sense to not break through something your not paying or paid for. Not sure why I’ve seen so many comments on many others videos. In the words of “teaching criminals”. Never knew they they started caring about destructing someone’s property. Most pickers either do it for business purposes as a career as a smith. And the other group is sport. It’s almost meditative

So really if they put a piece of metal where that hole is, that allows you to put that bobby pin in, the lock would be virtually unpickable 🤔 wonder if I could put some heavy duty epoxy in there but I'd have to be careful to not get any on that ball that's down in there 🤔

Yes, they could have made it virtually unpickable. But, since it's made from crappy metal with poor tolerances, it's probably easier to brute force anyway. At least the old Smartkey locks could be forced open with a hardened steel tool stuck in the keyway and twisted hard.
