I want him to return, but not if he's a mindless beast. I'd want him to be a Sentient Volatile, or Human during the day, Volatile at night, or be so evolved that he's just permanently back in a Human state, but has crazy strength like Aiden, and Waltz.
It’s either Sentient or a mutated Night Hunter but who knows. It is mostly sentient because of the vial’s unknown effects and it also affect loads of people in the following too. Not just Crane.
They can have next dlc be Aiden leaving villedor while hearing reports of some kind of new variant of infected out there and to be careful. Since Aiden is leaving trying to avoid having spontaneous transformations and being a threat they could have Kyle be introduced and teach him to control this side cause maybe Kyle got his hands on the cure and it semi worked or they experimented on him so now he can transform back and forth from human to infected (like DI2 fury mode) and realizes Aiden and him are similar.
I honestly can't wait to see him again. His voice acting was the best in this industry. EDIT: I was talking about Roger Craig Smiths performance as Kyle Crane not the entirety of Dying Light.
Roger Craig Smith has such an eclectic voice acting career. Hes Mirage in Apex, like all the side characters in Regular Show, in lots of Marvel/Disney shows.

The following was one of the first ever sequels that I liked in a game but it does create some weird “what’s cannon and what’s not” questions but the first option makes the most sense with him becoming the night hunter and spreading the virus and I would like to see how he appears in dl2. Hope they make it as amazing as we’re hoping it will be.
It was 90% confirmed prior to the devs mentioning it that the nuke ending wasn't canon. If it had been, it surely would have been mentioned otherwise in DL2 since it wasn't an official body nuking Harran so much as some random guy just blowing up the city. I'm sure it would've been mentioned regardless, it's just more notable for a nuke to randomly decimate a town than the GRE or Ministry of Defense just bombing it themselves.
"target down..." makes me think they're treating him like, well an enemy, a Hazard. So I'm almost 100% certain he's a zombie of some kind, and the "Send help" makes me think that he's super dangerous and almost too much to handle.

Harran virus and the virus in DL2 is different, but knowing how Kyle Crane plot work, hes probably got infected with the second virus too making him even more dangerous
Maybe not a zombie. Crane WAS pretty experient in fighting and running. he already dealt with folks with guns before. LOTS of them. Would make sense this military people won't expect this Hazard to fight them so well. Running, dodging and maybe even using their own guns against them.
Let's be real, even without any kind of super serum juicing him up, Kyle was always several times more agile than Aiden ever got. As a transformed, whether sentient or not... He'd be a lot more dangerous than Aiden or Waltz, even if he's not as strong. That said, it HAS been 22 years since Harran, during Dying Light 2. Who knows how Kyle might have changed (and mutated) since then?
When I heard spike in dying light 2 say “I wish crane was here to see this….” I laughed out loud so hard! Like I get that it’s for the player, as a nod to the first game. But like it made no sense for spike to say that. As if they were as close as brothers or something 😂 they barely knew eachother…
To be fair, crane did a lot for Spike in DL1, and plus, whose to say that they didn't spend time together between the events of the base game, and the following?

They'd butcher his character if they went the fanservice route and made him a nighthunter for a bunch of 10 year olds who don't know better instead of following the lore and making him a Sentient volatile which is what he became.
Nice video. I would also add a suggestion that Techland will retcon or canonize the night hunter in games as a sentient volatile's evolution. They already canonized the night hunter with putting him into Stories from the Dying City comic that comes alongside with Deluxe & Ultimate editions of the Dying Light 2 Stay Human. They removed some differences that were the thing between volatiles and the BTZ (which is not canon) night hunter; in the comic, night hunter can hide his tendrils inside his arms and split his mouth like volatiles. The night hunter they show in the comic could very possibly be Kyle Crane some time after The Following and before his custody in the GRE laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland, Europe.
Having Kyle Crane return in DL2 would be amazing. I do agree however, that it has to be with a fitting story, and not just thrown in there to get people to play the game.
I really hope that they do bring him back and do something interesting with his character. Maybe make him a sort of reluctant mentor to Aiden? I personally think that the both of them will have an interesting chemistry with each considering that both of them are infected and they can go berserk come night time.
tbh to me Crane taking the vials was always the canon ending. Remember what The Mother said to him - after taking the "medicine" she changed into zombie but kept her intelligence during the day and gave into her impulses during night. Sounds familiar? Should be. When we play DL2 one of the first things we learn about this new form of the virus is that you need light to combat the infection (not to cure it but to keep yourself in check) and if you stay too long in the dark you fully turn

How does Crane spread the virus exactly? He's a night hunter they tear you apart. Unless somehow zombies came out of the same manhole or the virus went airborne.
Well, at an all you can eat buffet you don't eat it all do you? You eat part of it, then move to the next. It wasn't just one or two people like in the already picked clean city back in harran, it was an entire fresh city so some bitten humans are bound to escape and spread the plague. Or maybe your right and some zombie fell into a water supply idk lol
If I recall correctly crane isn't your run of the mill night hunter he's fully sentient and capable of stratagizing which would make him a bigger threat.
i feel like in the second DLC hes going to come back as a very hard boss. Maybe he roams the woods and people are trying to defeat him and bring back his humanity in some way.
If Kyle returns I’ll come back and finish dying light 2. I bought on release day, played for a bit. Was annoyed with how glitchy it was and deleted the game. Over a year later I redownloaded it to give another shot. Got halfways through the game and got insanely bored with the story, gameplay and glitches again. That was about a few weeks ago.
It’ll be cool to have a dlc that have them find Kyle Crain in his zombie form and they try to catch him and then put him in a Cage like in Jurassic park when they had that raptor in one. And then have the choice to either cure Kyle or use his blood to develop a cure because he was infected with the OG virus. And I’d love for a new dlc to come out when you can venture out of the wall through hordes of infected like escaping the wall with a car that you have to fix up and upgrade. Honestly they can do so much with Kyle craine as a story dlc. Call the dlc the first one. Or som like that.
Kyle is the best written character techland has wrote he’s just badass and pure sigma Aiden is OK but Kyle crane is the goat I really hope Techland goes back to the roots. And he got to make a return I just hope we see him in a positive way not a bad way but who knows i just want answers and I’ll pay heavy for them!
I believe crane is the night hunter they kinda look the same minus the exposed bone and flesh. Waltz and Aiden have some of the abilities of the night hunter high jump, strong melee attacks, and the ability to see your enemy through walls i think Aiden must use his night hunter abilities to defeat crane once and for all because we all know how strong and fast and agile crane is.

it would also make more sense for kyle to have gotten out and spread the virus as an evolved night hunter or sentient volatile or something than the nuke ending because we have seen in DL1 how selfish he is in his decisions and his thought process of save everyone rather than sacrificing a group for the wider world. And just because we most likely would of seen something in game about Harran being nuked in DL2 and everyone scared of villedor and the central loop being nuked as well
It must have been a really hard bullet for techland to swallow that nobody like Aiden or even the story of DL2. That being said bringing back Krane knowing everybody wanted that from the beginning is 100% the right move, like you said i just hope it's a properly written story and hopefully much better than the base game story. Would hate to see them bring Krane back and ruin him

personally from what I can figure, after the Following canon ending where you fight and become a sentient volatile to which people still are not sure if you're meant to be the Night Hunter or not and I am pretty much on the side of he is but DL2 does kinda confirms he's not, but how I see it is like they said he caused the outbreak outside Harran and it honestly sounds like the GRE captured him and experimented on him and then further spread the virus, if I had to guess he either returns as a corpse or as a boss fight either as a completely feral volatile or entirely sentient like the Mother was trying to stop you from doing something stupid, who knows but I legitimately doubt the odds of us seeing him alive again, by now hes completely zombified and odds are he may have lost his mind, was probably kept in dark places for long enough that he lost his mind since The Mother basically said that while the sun is out and she is basking in it's glow she can control herself but the second it goes down she loses her mind and has to lock herself away till dawn, Kyle has probably been stuck in some underground facility long enough that he will never gain back his sentience, genuinely guessing we either never see him again or we will find his corpse but who knows
Was kind of funny how many people were rooting for the nuclear ending, as though they didn’t notice all the context in between. They just took the glowing goddess whom everyone worshipped at her word, not doubting for a moment. Think about it. She wasn’t a damn goddess. *She was a Warlord’s wife.* She was not a kind and benevolent person. She only cared things went however she wanted. “Look at this (me) does this look like it can be cured!!!” -Only thinking about if *SHE* can be cured, and because she’s ugly AF (honestly her true colors from her previous way of life) she decides *she wants to die.* “What?!? Why would he entrust them to you but not me?!?” - Implying whomever had the code (I forget. I think it was the general? But I can’t remember why it’d make sense, if he died or if he was out of the zones) *did not trust her,* and believed she was out of her mind. Not to mention, she hide her intentions from the followers, as when you meet them in game, they seem like average people who are grateful for her, not devoted crazies devoted to the end of life. There is so much against her, yet people constantly believed for years that it was the ‘true ending’ to nuke everyone. 🙄 (Btw, to assuage anyone still thinking about her saying it can’t be cured, she was clearly in the final stages of it. There are medicines even now a days that can ether stall your disease/virus or cure it before a certain point, but once you are past that point, it is too late. So sorry that it was too late for her (not) but she doesn’t get to suddenly decree that because, say, she has stage 5 cancer that now everyone with cancer should be euthanized, along with everyone they’ve come in contact with. Does that sound crazy? Then *NO SHIT SHE’S CRAZY!!!)* Edit: accidentally wrote viruses and diseases where I meant to write medicines 😅 rewrote it to all make sense
I'd love to know what happened to Crane, but hopefully the devs come up with something better than what the fans have suggested. I would like to be really surprised, but everything that the fans offer is so banal :/
- add an effective animated blow after a perfect dodge for people and people sized zombies, take from doom eternal but make it your own, for example if you do a perfect dodge and hit the melee button while in slow motion on a human you do a quick knee in the face, or punch, or elbow.. for zombies for example the viral, when it lunges at you and you get a perfect dodge, and RT prompt shows up for an effective blow, and you just grab them mid lunge and slam them on their head, more variety on gory animations= more satisfaction= more fun, imagine ripping off jaws, doing brutal body/ head slams, more animations on assanitions, takedowns… also I should mention if the enemy has let’s say 30% health and you hit a perfect dodge or or parry you should make the next attack a brutal fatal quick animation. Add variety, I have all kinds of ideas for animations. Also imagine finishing animations on brutes! The big boy zombies, like and RT prompt will pop up once they’re low on health for a finisher, imagine climbing up on the brute to shove a machete in his head - Add variety on the interior parts of the game - Replace parry projectile with catch projectile, so if those fire guys throw a Molotove, there’s a small window where you can catch it and throw it back, with any projectile besides the giant rock of course - Maybe add some finishers with the grappling hook, when an enemy is low on health, think scorpion from mortal combat. - Make gang leaders more aggressive and strong with a variety of attacks instead of sponges, it’s bothersome when you hit someone in the head with a Katana 10 times, burn them, electrocute them, stomp on their head and they’re still not dead, no no no.. including the main sponge you fight on the legendary random interaction where you have to pick a very hard lock after you kill all the renegades - Revamp the slope interaction, if you step on a small slope during combat it will put your weapon away and make you completely vulnerable - Enhance gore effects, add ribs and spines when cut in half, when hit with blunt add multiple gore effects instead of the one, one where you knock half of their head off and it’s just their jaw and down that’s left, or one where you smack just their face skin clean off and you just see their skull lol - Again DOOMSTYLE TAKEDOWNS! - Craftable spears - Smoothen out parkour/ combat interactions.. example: running off the wall kick seems a little jiggity, same goes with the paraglided kick and the swing off the bar kick, and grapple swing kick, sometimes they execute smooth but make it so it’s smooth all the time and therefore making it more satisfying, again maybe combine this with the executions idea, when an enemy is low on health and you a do a running off the wall kick and you finish them off with a quick slow motion finisher, you can apply that to all sorts of different combat choices you make - Make drop kicking less floaty and a drop straight down, can’t tell you how many times I’ve fell off a building doing that - Add a finisher to the sprinting RT, an enemy low on health, instead of you just sprinting at them and trucking them you do a finisher, like tackling them and dropping them on their head, or since your pretty much a super soldier, tackle them and just chuck them and watch them fly, or you sprint at them grab them by the neck and do a brutal body slam, while sprinting so you drag them along the ground while you slam them lol, do the same with the block grab slam ability, you know the one that’s useless unless an enemy has their back along an edge. - Add dodge attacks and jump attacks - Instead of just slashing make add a little mixture to the combat, like a quick stab for a dodge attack, depending on the weapon type of course - Toggle prompt for unblockable attacks with health bars off - Different healing and brutal animations, take from far cry - Obvious wounds, when you slice someone up you can see the cuts you inflict onto them and also see cuts inflicted on to you - Difficulty settings… tweak damage done to you, enemy health, enemy aggression, loot. Xp.. the basics.. volatiles are way too spongy on hard but feels easy on normal.. unlimited poise..not cool..focus on making the game hard and skillful.. not make a bunch of sponge bags like most gaming companies - Hag is overpowered, they have unlimited poise, which makes no sense cause their the size of your leg, their lunge attack is damn near unavoidable, they stick on to you even though if you move 10 feet away from where she lunged at you originally.. add some cool mechanics like being able to interrupt that lunge with a shot or something to throw - Have to add some sort of counter for lunge attacks since they stick, - Add legends for knockdown recovery speed or just fix it in general, it’s annoying how long your guy takes to get up when he gets knocked down by a boulder, or by any zombie In general, - Add option to take out rain effects and charge blur And theses are just extras to make the game legendary, overhaul the graphics, right now it looks like dying light 2’s graphics are call of duty and Fortnite had a baby graphics, make it look more real and grittier, take advantage of this next generation, Unreal engine 5 type.
I’ll admit. The reason I didn’t play Dying Light 2 past the prologue was because I thought Kyle Crane was killed off permanently. This is honestly making me wanna play dying light 2 now. (Yes Kyle was the only reason I cared about the story of dying light 2 aaaaand then the following dlc in the first game came knocking)
Am I missing something, this was confirmed the day DL2 released, when get the newspaper article talking about Harran five years later, that article would have not been talking about survivors if a nuke had gone off, this is old news, hence why the developer said "I think you all know".
Thus whole video is pointless 😅 crane isn't coming back, you can literally get a skin for him for your character so your basically playing as crane....otherwise its pointless to bring him back. Would be cool if we have an objective to find an specific Volatile and a sample of his blood and the game acts as if we gonna have to FIGHT it. THen, we get into the are find he one and... he runs away, and we gonna have chase. As we chase the VOlatine, the thing runs less as a usual Volatine and more like a runner. Parkouring around and even helping as at some points, like we fail a jump and it throws a rope for up or opens a passage. THen we arrive in its hideout and it speak to us. WOuld be a cool introduction! If there is a expansion coming with Crane, I unfortunately don't believe he will be cured in it. I hope he won't DIE and manages to stay in a sentient to help us, but if we find a cure, I think he may be too far gone... but we see. If we get something with our boi it will already be cool.

When he comes back he definitely needs to start off punching a Boulder like Chris Redfield then leaping off a cliff like Ezio and finally landing safely and bamboozling all the volatiles like Mirage
