I think they handled this topic very well. They showed Both were wrong. What Sara said did not make getting slapped okay, but getting slapped does not make what she said okay. Neither should have lashed out at the other.
I guess him not being in the house and not seeing his family really affected him. Comparing seasons 1 and 2, it seemed more like the writers didn't really have a plan for the character anymore, so they just threw him cheating on his wife last minute. What was in season 1 possessed by a kryptonian? Then season 2 cheating really a downfall for the character
It's really easy to make a deadbeat mom/dad amid a divorce when one character has more rank than the other. I'm amazed they make him as good of a guy as they do.
Damn, "everythings changed" and "I just see Mom differently" really hits me deep coming from a divorced family. At least Her parents are civil with each other unlike mine. I know this is just a show but yeah her actions just sums up how I constantly feel...
The writing is incredible. Relatable characters, realistic flaws (superhero/supervillain shenanigans notwithstanding), and where some shows might take it in a darker direction, the characters model healthy ways to deal with emotional and relational problems. This is a show about families that happens to have Superman in it.
I got to say Kyle is definitely dad of the year. And this is the most messed up harsh reality I’ve ever seen when it comes to marriage or just relationships period. It doesn’t matter how good of a father you are, even how good of a husband you are. For whatever reason she doesn’t want you anymore your wife or your significant other. The title doesn’t matter the actions do. You’re forever an outsider. Spending weekends with your children instead of every single day with them. That’s not fair. I find Kyle‘s story very interesting. He started off really as a pathetic loser not gonna lie. Wallowing in self-pity. He lost his wife he lost certain connection with his children. And in doing so, he became the best version of himself ever. This show is amazing. Cuz a lot of the themes behind it are real.
I don't know if it was ever explained why Kyle cheated on Lana. In this case, it was his fault that the marriage ended. Some men are victims of divorce after they did everything right. Unfortunately, love isn't always enough to survive for a marriage to survive after an affair.
I hope you don't have/won't have children if this is your mindset "Kyle is definitely dad of the year", you a second later "it doesn't matter how good a father you are". Dude with two children cheats on his wife. And has a job(firefighter) that requires him to work multiple day long shifts. And you say it's "not fair" that the dude who cheats on his wife and has a job that requires at the LEAST the majority of an entire day away from his home doesn't get custody for 5 days a week of two minor children? Don't breed dude. Don't.
No parent is perfect unfortunately every parent's snaps eventually especially when they reach a breaking point and lose the patients with there kid there is only so much tolerance a parent can have being disrespected by her kid on top of that she comes off saying stuff about her parents marriage that's between husband and wife nobody is throwing the fact that she tried killing herself in season 1 in her face to hurt her like she did when she mentioned her dad cheating to her Mom. Lana didnt just up and slap her the breaking point came when Sarah mentioned affair.. lana reacted.. i dont believe in beating the crap out of you kid. But i do believe in a hand across the ass. BUT EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT AND HAS DIFFERENT OPINIONS WHICH THEY ARE ENTITLED TO THIS IS JUST MY OWN
Well I'm glad I grew up hating my mother who hated my father who drove him away blah blah blah second of all I never knew the reason why I was here on this f****** the Earth 🌎 that's the thing about apparent when they reach a certain point they don't feel like they got to explain nothing to you sorry what was the reason behind me being born on this f****** Earth to do what? And one day after so many years of my mother beating my ass I struck back and I enjoyed it and I loved it keyport hot water on my ass can I have the run for the house had to run out in agony but that was good 👍 I learn to stand on my feet it was time to go it was difficult would it made me the man I am today and I'm glad of it hello children and I'm glad of it in raising a child with a female woman f*** a b****there will be no blood line after when I'm gone that's it I am the first and the last and besides I got brothers and sisters so I let them do all the f****** in the breeding having brats after themselves I'm not interested my sister told me one time don't you want to see your nieces and nephews I said the white picket fence of your b******* and that other f****** that I don't want to like but I want to kill him if I ever see him my half-brother is not my idea I can care less about you anybody else and I told her I see you stay where you at and I'm going to stay where I'm at another state 30 years ago only when I send it on the telephone
Then why did Lana put Sarah between her divorce with Kyle? Asking her "what did you tell your father?" "Did you tell her about me and Henry?" "Be careful what you tell to your father about me?" Lana put her daughter in the worst place a child can ever be put. Between a divorce. Since Sarah is now in between she gets to speak her mind. Simple as that
@@The_Memorial no she didnt attack Sarah. I think we are coming from different places. Agree to disagree. As far as I’m concerned, She deserves that slap. It’s the only thing that finally shut her up. That’ll learn her.
Before the show began. It's mentioned in the pilot that she's on medication because she tried to take her own life the year prior. It's why her parents were so strict/overprotective toward her for most of the show, and it's explicitly why Kyle stopped his affair. Their constant fights almost cost them their daughter and they were scared it could happen again.
@StareachValcin I'm not a fan of sarah either the fact that Kyle telling she shouldn't never that to lana all can think is her self and hate lana had to apologize for the fact that she being disrespectful to her I can't I don't like her character at all.
She's so manipulative and tries to make herself the victim all the time. She doesn't give a crap that she hurt her mother. All she gives is attitude all the time.
@@thescream18 She’s not manipulative yes the way she treated her mom was wrong but Lana was wrong for slapping in the face and in case you haven’t noticed Sarah is still trying to adjust to her new normal with her parents being divorced and all so give her a break
I thought the slap was wrong, but whoever wrote the portrayal of Sarah was terrible too I mean no matter what your kid says no 1 deserves to be slapped but at the same time as I said idiotic writing, for example when she was in the dark about Jordan and his excuse was family emergency and she said she wanted to be put 1st I am like oookkaayy put 1st before his family that made a lot of not sense.
@@The_Memorial She is spoiled in the way of your second point... she acts like she can nd should do whatever she wants and have no consequences... that is what led to her been slapped
Oh hell no, I’m 31 years old and trust me, I was raised by an iron fisted mother who never doubted to beat the shit out of me, and many many many times did I got a slap just cause she was pissed, but I knew better than to defy her and I grow to be a man of good, todays kids just make a huge uproar over something that in the 90s was a common occurrence..
Sure, if you want your kids to learn how to act that way towards everything they have a problem with by beating and hitting. It destroys reasonable conversation. Children replicate what they see from their parents.
Well when parents learn to act like adults. Kyle is a drunky who cheated. Lana is trying to force her emotions down, distracting herself with mayorhood and distancing herself from her children, trying to be a control freak about Sarah's life, telling her bf not to be close to her and then putting Sarah in the middle of her divorce with Kyle.
Have no context to who the girl is or what this show is but a slap seems pretty light thing to get into a fuss about. Plenty of families do worse with perfectly functioning relationships
