Many people know about Kyria Draxus joining Custodian Guard, but is it actually as insane as people say it is? In today's video we look at the impact Kyria Draxus can have in the Adeptus Custodes.

You’re absolutely right, but if people are like me, they like inquisitors because it adds a little variety in a mostly homogeneous list, offer the opportunity for a nice mini conversion, and, as a bonus, provide a little better shooting phase !

WTC Has now ruled Inquisitors ( Kyria Draxus ) can go with Saggitarum btw.

Another semi small benefit for kyria is she gives the guard unit grenades. Something they lack otherwise

@@crazyshak4827 Another weird thing about Cortez is that they didn't give his "Psychic Blast" the blast keyword... Oh, come on GW. How did you miss that. It is a "blast" attack, it says it in the attack's name.

If the upcoming Codex gives us a ranged-based detatchment, I could see Kyria leading a troop of Saggittarum very easily.

She can't, they are not battleline

@@Rejnols she can because each leader who is allowed to lead cust. Guards can lead saggittarums as well. And she can lead these, because these are battleline. So following these rules as written she can. The sags got a rule which allows her to lead them. You don't accept this, okay, your mistake, but if you do not wish to discuss about this, them don't start the discussion in the comments on your own. ... btw, you do a secnd mistake as well about deployment and her 18" lone wolf ability. deployment means, we have a 24" big zone, which nobody is allowed to deploy into without any ability which breaks this. so both player deploy their units out of 24". If your enemy is allowed to move 6" in his turn he will be out of 18" in the end. this might be just a few milimeters, but it is impossible to get into the 18" bubble with just a movement of 6".

@@Rejnols It doesn't. It says if a leader is able to lead the custodian guards, then this leader is able to lead the saggitarums instead. This sentence makes the whole battleline keyword for this unit (and for the custodian guards with fw weapons, which are stuck in the exact same situation) irrelevant and unnessessary

Fun with her agents. The mystic gives a 12 inch no deep strike/ reinforcements bubble on top of the indirect protection.

Great breakdown with solid points. In my eyes Kyria is a tech piece more than anything if you felt 3” deep strike will hurt you. Her weapons are geared towards killing infantry which custodes do quite well and while +1 to hit is nice into eldar/ dark eldar, it’s not really that needed as well. I didn’t think about a conga line hench squad in the back though so that is something I may have to try! She isn’t bad but she is for sure a flavor pick, everyone has different tastes. Agents give us niche tools that are really dependent on local metas, everyone needs to choose which one works best for them. I know I will be trying more coteaz as my local meta everyone else has ways of gaining more cp and I want to join in on that!

What about those 10 men squads from the imperial agent ally option? Are they worth taking a squad or two too add numbers in the list. I could imagine they can block of hordes and the custodes can concentrate on more dangerous units.

draxus in my opinion is pretty good. I went to a tournament last saturday and she cleaned my whole Backfield every Game. I went 3:0. i use her to kill scouts and stuff bevore i go offensive with her unit. Also you dont have to put her unit on the esge of the deployment zone. So youre opponent needs to move more than 6“ 😉

Kyria's definitely interesting, and I think Inquisitors in general have an interesting niche in Custodes. I haven't gotten a chance to build and paint her yet, but I do like the idea. I at least like the idea of double tapping Kyria and the Guard to basically wipe a Marine squad so they can get into melee with something more interesting. I also like running Inquisitor Greyfax with Custodian Guard as well. The double tap and wound rerolls on her snipe attacks is...interesting. Same for preventing fallbacks if your Guard dont manage to vaporize whatever they hit in melee. Competitive? Nah. But fun, and has some weird effects that can throw people off

I think the point of taking her is also depending if the meta has a lot of indirect fire or not, as she can be a good unit to take to put some guards on an objective and if the gameplan of your opponent is just shooting everything out of line of sight, she's going to be a real pain in the ***

Nice Take. I've used her and for one turn you might not be targetable, but Guard want to be in combat so your moving inside of 18 really fast. You also get one good turn of shooting into infantry. Sometimes this is overkill and stops you from using a charge to get further up the board, other times it lets you totally destory a unit. I've currently dropped her for the eversor assassin as I think his utility is far more valuable in my list, meta and play style. The other agenet slot is taken by the Callidus.... gotta score secondarys and vect armour of contempt!

Same here. I can’t have a squad of guard sitting there firing spears. Sure her extra potential damage is nice, but it is not as useful or consistent as having an assassin, or even another squad of trash units.

While the extra shooting is nice, I generally lean into taking her for the 18" lone op. By activating it and moving the guard squad to one of the outside objectives, my opponent has to normally reposition their heavier hitting units to deal with the squad. This normally leads to sloppier movement with their larger tanks and allows my Grav tanks to take them out in turn without having to commit too far forward.

What about henchmen and basic inquisitor combo. Just 135 points and point changes can allow it. The 12 inch protection of deep strike is cash money but i dont see the point in draxus shooting at all if its a home obj unit.

With Kyria Draxus being attached to a Custodes Guard squad, could you still use the sticky objective stratagem?

Not auto include but I do like her personally. I always deploy her to my strong/ my opponents weak side. This puts them out of 18" from the far side and very likely to tank a couple rounds of shooting, which guard aren't great at compared to wardens. Then their shooting has finished off so many units allowing me to charge others, or shoot mid objective freeing up my unit there, and often plink the last couple wounds I need on a heavy target after a Caladius shot. Basically, I feel it gives me a lot of flexibility and I don't think I am good with the Eversor since he at best scores me 3-5 points and dies.

Nah it only triggers on ABILITIES that give your opponent CP, not on stuff like discarding a tactical secondary.

I like inquisitor coteaz. He brings something custodes dont have. Sure he shines just in matches vs cp generating armies but he has a decent shooting and melee. He isnt that useless.

I think the idea is prosecutors + Draxus holding the backline and pew pew indirect. At least from the Art of War style list that is popular in NA - I wonder what your thoughts are about that

Nope Art of War guys are very much into Guard + Draxus. The backline thing i better and cheaper to do by simply leaving an assassin on the home objective

I disagree that she doesn't do anything for Custodes in Melee. She may not directly help, but indirectly she keeps the enemy army from being able to focus down her unit before they can get into melee. While 18" Lone Ops with an 18" gun isn't super great, only the unit she's in range of (and shooting at) is in range to shoot back. That said, I find her much more useful when you can put her on a unit with actual range and firepower. I put her on Deathwatch Veterans with Infernus Bolters or Missile Launchers, and that gives me a good ranged unit that can shoot without being shot at.

Oh so many armies. Space Marines with Inceptors, Genestealers with a strat, Grey Knights with a strat, Necrons with a strat, Chaos Demons while within the Shadow of Chaos with a strat, probably many others i don't remember right now.

This is a really cool, but I realized the 12 bubble is from that model, not the entire unit. Still pretty cool to have but gets pricey.

Are people here in America really playing with player placed terrain? I've played in a fair few tournaments all of which have used official terrain layouts, i only use player placed terrain at casual lgs games

I feel like Greyfax would be a much more enticing pick, granting that 4+ anti psyker would make it easy to mow down quite a few big threats from a distance
