The wizard just plummeting 300 ft down made my day. I will absolutely weaponize fall damage in my games!

If you have 20d6 at your disposal and you are not trying to use it, what are you even doing?

Yeah, a lot of these are inspired by the maps. I'll see them and think of what sort of encounter they would work with.

Nice KO, DM. Heres how I'd do it. Replace my character with the fighter - 8 Clockwork Sorcerer/1 Monk/2 Bladesinger Wizard no magical items: 1st round - Quicken Flight - Bonus Action + Fly 60 + Dodge - Action Genie hits her with Whirlwind - Her whole 0 STR save sucks and is her weakness so she is retrained. Round 2 - Quicken Freedom of movement (no more restrainment)- Bonus Action + Fly next to Genie + Dodge. Genie - who knows, maybe move and cast whirlwind on other party members, maybe try to attack with disadvantage a "Mystical Monk" with an AC of 19 (24 with Shield spell). But the Genie knows shes hard to hit and his whirlwind does nothing. Round 3 Quicken Greenflame Blade (immune to Booming Blade) Longsword Dex attack (2d8 Fire + 1D8 + 5 slashing dmg) + Dodge - Action (Always keeping right next it with 60ft Fly speed) And the rest of the party kills it. The Mystical Monk has fulfilled her role as a tank and distraction. If need be, she flies and dashes 120 feet per round to the Wizard and casts Aid on him to get him up. We go on to kick more butt and take all the treasure....in my mind at least. Twas a dream! 😅😂

I don't know that I would agree with throwing 6 sorcery points on the second encounter of a six encounter dungeon. Also, Fly speed against a flying enemy is a trap you set for yourself: if it runs away and you fly after it, you can get into a position where you no longer have the support of your party and are now fighting one on one. This trap is avoidable, but you have to be aware of it, and it's even more easily avoided if you don't set it in the future.

@d20tactics23 You dont make unreasonable points. But that's the beauty of Sorcery Points, you can recharge them with spells and create spells with points. Basically, I would have cast a 4th Level spell worth of sorc points. I also had to cast FOM but it lasts for a whole hour, so now im immune to be restrained, paralyzed, or stunned. And this is the most nonoptomized fight for my most nonoptomized build - its good but its no dedicated Arcane caster build - its for flavor. The Djinn is immune to thunder damage which robs me of my trapping trick with the booming damage that usually keeps enemies stationary. I am aware of the potential to lead me away, but if the Djinn has to lock down an area or guard a portal, it failed by leading me away. And then I can just dash back and we all escape. If it has time to lead me out, I wouldn't follow because there's no need to, I'm just there soaking up damage and getting in its face while the party does the real work. It's a tanky gish monk build that's super weird and flavorful. I cant miss the opportunity to get into an aerial duel with something! Too fun! I'm basically just doing what the fighter is doing but in the air. Having played 3 Sorcerers, I find it pretty easy to manage their resources because they get so many, especially at level 11. If the mage cast Haste on my Monk while she flew, I could distance lock it and weave in and out of attack range at a speed of 240ft (dash) + bonus action attacks if need be. The party had to expend some resources, saving their mage comrade and he could have possibly died. So spending a 3rd and 4th level equivalent of spells to take out a Djinn doesn't seem that overkill. I still have 2 5th level slots, 8 sorc points, 1 4th level slots, 3 third level slots, 2 2nd, and maybe 2 or 3 1st level slots. I'm loaded for the next fight. Let's go save the realm and beat up the BBEG!
