The 2011 L322 Range Rover has been in my life for the past 5 years, after I purchased it in October 2016. It has by far been one of the most amazing automotive experiences of my life, holding it’s own next to our Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Rolls-Royce Ghost from similar years. However, the L322 doesn’t come without issues. Today, we’ll talk about the issues I’ve had with the L322 since it’s last video over two years ago.

About this video: For the last two and a half years, we’ve been living in FL under the impression that the world was nearly about to end. After being stuck in a tourist town for much too long, we decided it was time for a change. For that, we had to ship the cars 600 miles away to our new house, but unfortunately, the timing didn’t quite work out to where we would be able to pick them up. Luckily, our old friends at European Auto Garage in Knoxville, TN were there to save the day and take delivery of the L322 Range Rover and the 2011 Aston Martin Vantage.
About 5 days before we moved, we had the 2011 L322 Range Rover HSE LUX and Aston Martin picked up to be shipped to their service center for their regular services. Fast forward a bit, we’ve been living in the new house about 2 hours from EAG for over a week. The Range Rover was still waiting in the parking lot because just a couple of days after we settled in, we received a call that used Range Rover L322 needed some repairs and more maintenance.
Unsurprisingly, the Aston was in perfect condition. However, the Range Rover was not in as healthy of a condition and needed more repairs than expected. Originally, the L322 Range Rover went in for an oil change, tire rotation, balance, alignment, etc. The L322 hadn’t been driven much in the last 2 years - especially after we got the Aston Martin. We worked from home, and when we went into our office, Nic and I normally drove his 428i. Most of the time, the L322 sat in the garage - clean and assumingely pristine.
The L322 had decided it needed repair attention. Upon reading the inspection report, I noticed one major issue that they had noted. “Inner axel boots torn, slinging grease.” Not the line you want to read. They recommended replacing the front axel shaft assembly on the L322 Range Rover for about $700 - not too bad. A few days later, I got a call saying that the front axel was seized, resulting in an additional $700 or so to fix. Roughly $1,400 to repair that - not too bad, I thought.
However, that’s not where it ended. A day after the repair was approved, I got another phone call in the tone of voice I had heard one too many times. I knew something else had broken on the used Range Rover. The L322 5.0L V8 decided to blow a coolant line during the final test drive, resulting in another repair that required 5 hours of labor due to the line running from the front of the engine, down the back, towards the bottom of the engine. Let’s just say, I feel the technician for my L322 has become close with it.
$2,717 later, the L322 is finally home - ready for another service in a few months.
The frustrating part, though, was that after driving the car home 2 hours, I noticed something new. The 2011 L322 used Range Rover has started stuttering at 30/40 MPH. An alarming jutter comes from the front end near the axel around this speed. So, back to EAG it goes...
I have to say, though, after the last 2 and a half years, this car has been nearly perfect. It’s done everything I’ve asked it to do, and apparently on 3 legs. You truly can’t asked for a better experience from a car - one that just keeps on going no matter what conditions it’s put through. Even though it was an expensive week at the shop, it was by far worth it to keep this beautiful 2011 L322 Range Rover running smoothly.
