La Coupole (English: The Dome), also known as the Coupole d'Helfaut-Wizernes and originally codenamed Bauvorhaben 21 (Building Project 21) or Schotterwerk Nordwest (Northwest Gravel Works) is a Second World War bunker complex in the Pas-de-Calais area of northern France, It was built by the forces of Nazi Germany between 1943 and 1944 to serve as a launch base for V-2 rockets directed against London and southern England, and is the earliest known bunker to modern underground missile silos still in existence. In this video, i give you some information and history of what could have been devastating if the nazis had got this monolith up and running. It is now a museum of what could have been. Thanks for watching !!

Until I started following your channel I wasn't aware that so many of these sites still existed. Amazing. Thank you. Keep up the great work.

Morning Paul. Its suprising on how many structures are out there. The nazis occupied so many countries. If you get the chance to watch ' nazi megastructures' and 'abandoned engineering ' on the yesterday channel. ( some are on you tube) then this is usually a good platform of where i start off from. I will be bringing you more places and structures, as i put together more footage. . Thanks again for watching and commenting 😊

my wife and i visited there, where there is a very interesting museum. it is in PAS DE CALAISE not far from the channel tunnel.

Hi Nathon. There are quite a lot of museums around the par de calais area. Éperlecques V2 site . Mimoyeques V3 site and batteries Todt which has a massive K5 gun outside. If you get the chance then they are all worth a visit. Thanks for watching and commenting 😊

I went there 2 months ago. Impressive! Éperlecques bunker isn't far from there, by the way. Thanks for the share.

@@bunkersfortificationsandme7688 I will wait for it then because I couldn't go there. It was closed. May I also suggest you to visit the Maise and Longues-sur-Mer Batteries, close to Arromanches? And La pointe du Hoc, of course. But I am sure you already know such sites. I had strong sad feelings over there, thinking about all the chaps who died, both sides, well all except the lousy Waffen SS regiments. No mercy for them. Thanks for you work. :)

@@staric4863 hi chris. Yes, I've been to both places before. I didnt film them. Im not sure if i could do the D Day landings justice. I'm just so glad that we overcame tyranny. If you get chance to visit Wormhoudt in france, you can read about the massacre by the ss on the retreating British forces, on their way to dunkirk. 😓

@@bunkersfortificationsandme7688 I didn't know what happened in Wormhoudt. I will do a search about it. Another dirty story involving the SS. Great Britain gave so much in WW2, alone, in the beginning.
