Sandia Peak via La Luz Trail = MY NEW FAVORITE TRAILl!!
I needed to get in a longish run so this met the requirements. It was 11 miles up but had about 4,000ft gain. I thought I would have to walk the majority of this, but because the trail was so nice, I was able to run right up it until the rock slide.
This trail was shaded, had gorgeous views and was almost paved with perfect gravel to the top. It certainly wasn't the most technical trail out there, but it did have one stretch that got pretty rocky and slowed the pace quite a bit. If you're watching this, I hope you're in the area or interested in enjoying this trail for yourself!
We started at 6:50am and made it down via the tram just in time for some much needed lunch. For reference if you plan on doing this run/hike, it took me about 2:35 hours to run to the top. The tram ride as around 15 minutes and we didn't have to wait long for the tram once we did make it to the top.

If you do click any of the Amazon links, it will support my channel at no cost to you. However, I encourage you to shop around at your local running shops to find the best gear for your race and goals (ESPECIALLY SHOES, if you’re new to this). This does not have to be an expensive sport. There are many ways to get gear cheaper, make your own nutrition and shop the sales for shoes. For example, REI garage sales are great for discounted gear!
