Joachim Raff was one of the best known German composers ,though his work is largely forgotten today .He drew influence from a variety of sources ,combine the Classical symphonic form with Romantic penchant from program music and contrapuntal orchestral writing which harks back to the Baroque .La Polka de la Reine ,op.95,composed in 1861 in Wiesbaden ,first issued by a French publisher Choudens ,noted Bibliographie de la France in 1862 .The piano work is originally for four hands .I love playing original music and during my world wanders I always browse for rare pieces .Found the original score of the "Queen Polka "from 1962 in a second hand bookstore Carnforth ,Lancashire ,UK .Truly grateful to the owner mr.Neil Woodcock
