I been eagerly waiting for this since you sang on May 1 at the Grand Finals Concert. You sounded like you were born to play Violetta and I am thrilled now to hear you singing the entire role!
Be still my heart! First a groundbreaking Lucia, and now such a heartfelt Violetta. I can hardly wait for next Saturday. Your matchless technique gives you such freedom of expression.
This was probably my favourite HD opera I’ve experienced, since I started watching in my local cinema in Australia, in 2012. Thank you, loved everything about the production, much better than the previous La Traviata
Praised for her vocal beauty, seamless technique, and abundant musicality, Nadine Sierra is being hailed as one of the most promising, young talents in opera today. She was named the Richard Tucker Award Winner in 2017 and was awarded the 2018 Beverly Sills Artist Award by the Metropolitan Opera. Having made a string of successful debuts at the Met, Teatro alla Scala, Opéra national de Paris, and Staatsoper Berlin, she has become a fixture at many of the top houses around the world. On August 24th, 2018, her debut album, There’s a Place for Us, was released under the Deutsche Grammophon/Universal Music labels.
There are no words that can express how extraordinary your interpretation of Violetta Valery is. God bless so much talent! With great admiration from Argentina!
For light lyric coloratura E flat is a must. So Nadine has it. Verdi didn’t write this high tone in the score. It’s a typical show off when singer can hit it, she does. Also it’s a sad evolution, that lighter voices started to sing such a grounded role.
You're gifted for opera, Nadine. Genetically and spiritually. Thank you for your discipline at perfecting the craft so you can share it with the rest of the world to uplift and edify us toward the Devine.
Ms. Sierra, you were superb. Your technique is impeccable, your coloratura is incredible, and you are an excellent actress who really transformed yourself in the character. So beautiful to see you grow as an artist from Idomeneo (2017) to now. Your Violetta will be from now on the standard for the future singers. Absolutely beautiful! Brava!!!
@@elizabethyazgi8676 her voice is bigger than Oropesa's. Siera's interpretation is praised by many critics. Oropesa has great coloratura, but second and third act are a bit too heavy for her voice.
@@dragicaklomp9810 it's not bigger, it's just Sierra's voice is putted much dipper in the throat than Oropesa's one, though Oropesa is already on the same way of ingolata + mask singing. That's why Sierra has so badly controlled high notes and so improper delivery of low notes, buth her voice seems more voluminous and dark. They both are typical soubrettes trying to sing inappropriate repertoire.
Brava Nadine! Boo Michael Mayer. What a resounding insult this Mattel Presents: Barbie and Ken's Traviata kitsch is to the intelligence of the audience and to the score.
Agreed, it's like a tasteless parody of classical Traviata esthetics. Such a qrotesque. The last HD transmission of this production was just 4 years ago. What's the point to show it again? There are a lot of more interesting productions in this season.
She really is magical. Beauty, emotion, feelings. The whole pack is there. I just have one, small, question: in which language she sings? Is it turkish? Armenian? Aztekian? Blurlubibutalian? Does anybody knows? Does the Met cannot REALLY afford the extreme luxury of an italo/Verdian teacher?
This version is better than that horrible ''sofa'' Decker's one, but it's so tasteless and unstylish. This cheap and diletant attempt to interpret the 1830s late Biedermeier style is awful, this colour combinations, decors and especially men clothes are really bad, btw this concept' base was obviously stolen from ONP recent production which was more refined than this ''gypsy'' version. I've watched more long-lasting preview of this scene including Sempre libera and there was the only one effect from the production - what's the point to make Violetta' behaviour so affected, she's in love, not in epileptic seizure.
