Corbyn‘s intensifying of majorities in Northern red wall seats in 2017 did fuck all for actual political change beyond a Tory-DUP CS agreement. I really admire Corbyn, but the efficiency of the Labour vote this election and the use of tactical voting in Labour and Lib Dem target seats is commendable and comparing raw vote totals between different elections with different turnouts is not exactly representative.

There's a reason for the model you use in the UK, and that is 4 distinct nations with unevenly located populations. @@frusia123 well apart from me believing scotland should be independent, because the stats show them not as reactionary as parts of england with similar deprivation (but how long will that last when there's a cost of living crisis?)... I don't think that's an argument against PR. you can either say that you believe in "democracy", or you can admit that bourgeois "democracy" has it's many negatives and sometimes you have to limit it in someway to stop fascists/billionaires funding these fascists. sometimes maybe allowing all major news to be run by a few select billionaires means that it isn't a fair election when the news is bought up. so then, why even pretend that elections in the UK are the answer? workers can't actually get genuine power from these elections, but we try to justify the sham. then the fact that even if someone good came in (like corbyn), and somehow survived the coup attempts, the bloodbath, and avoid his own party stabbing him in the back - the fact that all that work towards improving inequality can just be undone after 4 years is so backwards. we don't vote on every single policy. we don't have mob rule. you shouldn't be allowed to democratically allow slavery if a majority of people ended up voting for it at one point. nevermind that studies show that the average person has basically no influence on policies, so why do we keep doing the same thing over and over again, hoping for a different outcome? why do we invade countries when they haven't democratically elected us? there are a lot of people influenced by the west, but they are not allowed a vote because we pretend power ends at national borders.

Reform UK received 4 M votes and 4 seats while the Lib Dems' 3.5 M votes delivered 71 seats. Let it be clear that I don't feel for that Farage idiot, but... Only 60 % of the eligible voters voted, meaning only 20 % voted for Labour. Less turnout also meant fewer votes for Labour than in 2019.
