These lovely horses are always looking for a treat in a tourist's pocket, rucksack or handbag. Which is misunderstood as being friendly. The soldiers often pop them a treat from their pockets. However, i'm always moved how sweet & gentle the horses are towards disabled people, and very small children. It must be an inate instinct in them. Fascinating. ❤✨
One of the first things I noticed when I found these channels about Horse Guards was that the horses would go for the leather jackets and bags. Now I see they try to get into any type of bag. How funny they are and how smart!
This is so strange. The guard asked the woman in the blue to get the MOD police. They saunter over not looking that interested. The guard talks to the officer and the police dither back again looking like they have all the time in the world. The guard keeps looking and is clearly concerned about something ... And nothing seems to happen. What was all that about and why on earth are those 2 police officers asleep on the job?.
Great comment! I agree! Also, I've never once, on any of the channels that cover this subject, seen a Guard send a tourist anywhere, much less to get the police. If it's as rare an occurrence as it seems, one would think the police would've moved quickly. As you said, they sauntered instead and looked awfully uninterested while doing so; both before and after having spoken to the Guard. I've just watched the video again. Wow! The Guard spent almost the entire rest of the video staring down the street. He'd received no help from the police at all. They went straight back into the courtyard after having spoken to him.
The police officer's duty station is the courtyard and in front of the horse boxes, they aren't to leave the area. The have radios to communicate with the station and other officers in the area who are patrolling the streets. Running police officers, even hurrying police officers, will get the crowd thinking that something in wrong and will cause panic. The officers handled the situation correctly.
@@xo2quilt It wasn't a question of running. No one expected them to run. The OP described the scene perfectly. They sauntered. They looked like they were taking a leisurely walk in the park on a Sunday afternoon, with nary a care in the world. After they'd had contact with the Guard, neither one of them even glanced in the direction of whatever it was that the Guard continued to stare at until the end of the video. The impression given was of two policemen who weren't the least bit worried about whatever the Guard was, and continued to be, worried about. Again, no one expected a run, a jog, or even a trot from the police. What one did expect though, was more than a saunter and for them to have given at least a quick glance in the direction that the Guard was worried about. As far as radio communication with other officers patrolling the streets goes, that's risible. It was obvious that the policemen couldn't have cared less about whatever was being called to their attention, so they certainly wouldn't have felt the need to use radio communication to solve the problem they'd just finished sauntering over to.
Howdy Esther! I believe this horse has its own personality and Arnie wants his space! I don’t ever think it’s a good idea to put children too close! Saying hello from the Laurentians 🇨🇦
I agree. Just with any animals they can sense things about us humans. They know who is afraid, nervous and someone who isn’t a good person. My dog does this and she is always spot on.
Horrible fool.. Much too nervous. The blue top and white dress with her was just as bad. as was another woman. All wearing mens panam hats. . Why oh why do Asian women witter and yatter so loudly and are rude pushing other people out as well.
What arrogance. Someone thinking their "special", waltzing in front of other people wanting their own photos, telling the person before you, to "get away", meanwhile it was probably her 4th or 5th. Same with the lady in orange jacket. Geez !! I hope the lady who went for the MOD officers, got a personal photo with them and the guard. Nice video Abdullah
The chinese are like this when they come too my country in Australia, they like too push & shove & jump in front of someone if standing in a queue, they do it a lot in restaurants, a couple of them tried it one day in front of my husband & I, when we were on a short holiday, well we politely told them to move & go too the end of the line, they tried to act dumb, if they didn't understand us, but as soon as I said when it comes too money you know english very well, well you should of seen the look on the lady's face, when I said that.....Then about half an hour later, while eating our breakfast, my husband noticed a older guy trying to lift his toast out of the toaster while it was on, so my husband rushed over & took the knife from his hand, & said too him no you don't do that, well the older guy started at my husband over it, so a couple of workers came over to see what the problem was & when my explained what happened, they thanked him, for saving someone from a possible electrocution, but his wife started having a go at my husband in chinese, but it was a younger man in their tour group, that explained to them what my husband did was safe that guys life...The younger man thanked us, but no thank you from the older couple, as I said too my husband later on, they are ungrateful, arrogant pricks....
@@sherylvanos9647Besides the fact that the story /their attitude is just amazing, I understand your frustration. I'd always been neutral about the Chinese, until they flooded into Italy. I'm American and have lived here for 28 years. I've watched Milano go from having a small Chinese community to an almost literal invasion. Besides the fact that they now own almost every café and store in the city, I've found them to either be very rude or to be 'fake nice' until you've bought something from them and then they turn the rude attitude back on. I was really sad to find myself disliking an entire nationality, but the dislike grew as my personal experience grew. It must've been a real shock, no pun intended, to have received no acknowledgement at all, after saving that guy's life. It's a 'bit more' than just holding a door open for someone and not receiving a thank you. Just incredibile!!
Some poses are definitely ridiculous, but how can posing for a photo be “disrespectful”? It only makes the poser look idiotic, it doesn’t impact the guards.
The first horse (Arnie?) was so patient with everybody! Even though his shift was almost over, he still seemed to enjoy all the attention from the people.
It does make you wonder about people! There's a horse who clearly objects to people too close, and says so clearly. Yet people still stay there once bitten, and others go up to experience being bitten! And laugh about. A horse bite can take half your face off, and it only needs the horse to get really serious about it for this to happen.
This is a mare named Rarden. Someone started to call her Arnie because she likes to bite. There was another horse quite a long time ago that they called Arnie. No one knows the real name of that horse
The kid with a stick ? Why is he allowed to carry that there? And he was standing almost in front of the horse.!!! IT takes a certain kind of parents to allow it . 😡
16:54 horse nearly bit someone and then a totally different woman after a conversation with the rider, gets police who come and go! Really unclear what she had in mind
There's a sign on the wall warning people not to stand near the horse's as they can get bit or kicked, people should use their common sense but some just don't want to know
Hey! I listened to your conversation and decided to comment on it. I hope all you videographers out there will switch to 4K quality. If I want to zoom in on a lower quality video, to see some detail more closely, it won't work when the picture is so blurry. There in London there are so many wonderful things in the background that I want to take a closer look at your wonderful videos, it's a shame that it can't be done when 4K is not used. And thanks, when the subtitles are on, I'll get the translation. I watch videos of several photographers there. I don't know if I have found the channels of all the photographers. I am completely hooked on London and the wonderful horses and the handsome King's Horse Guards. Greetings from Finland.
I'm not surprised the horse is biting because obviously the tourist cannot read " Don't touch the horse " As an American I am literally appalled at the Blatant Disrespect the tourist have for not only the Guardsman's but the Horse as well !! What is wrong with these people?????
Fair play to the woman who was asked to go and get the police. Both horses look agitated, you can’t blame them when people are in a race to get a picture of of themselves with the horses. Back off and let the horses do their job in peace!
Won't the horses get infections off all sick, with so many people putting their sweaty and grubby hands into the Poor animal's mouth? Authorities please do something about this dirty habit.
These horses are working and holding a person with a sword on their back. Do they not realize that these soldiers and horses will charge in the need of defense.
What was going on I wonder, he kept looking to the sidewalk where the other horse guard was. I wish more people was like this lady and respect them and not crowd them at once.
The first horse didn't bite anyone..just nibbled and nudged the tourists who were all around him. Too bad more horses aren't like him. The rider was very aware of everything around him as well.. The second horse horse is too nasty for public work. The way he snapped at that woman was horrible. He goes out of his way to bite and the guard sits with a loose rein. Not a great team like the 1st horse and guard.
It is clearly marked the horse may kick or bite, but the tourist still insist on touching them. Don’t blame the horse or the guard. It’s the stupid tourist fault if they get bit.
Interesting shop talk with other Horse Guards video makers. FWIW, touching the horses by visitors should be banned, it leads to problem directly related to the practice and some folks just don’t have the insight to know when to stop. Second, like with the gate Guards, no visitors stand inside the space between the arches & horses.
Why do people insist on touching or approaching The Guard Horse on Duty? All that needless touching, crowding and cameras in their faces day after day for an entire work day would make any mild mannered being want to bite. None of those people have the common decency to even ask permission to pet the horse or take photos. It's just sickening to watch that level of arrogance in people. It's time the Guards and horses were protected against these crowds in their faces. The Police should take the upper hand and shift the people back from crowding and causing obstruction. And maybe the sign should add.DO NOT APPROACH OR TOUCH HORSE OR GUARD AT ANYTIME. But then again. The moronic public don't appear to heed the Do not touch the reins or the warning that horses bite and kick.
Somewhere along the lines there was a mix up and Rarden was getting mixed up with arnie. Like you said Arnie is all black.. I don't think he has been back since last year.
@@marywood6270 no he has not been back since he took ill in July of 2023. I happen to see the footage of him, he started weaving back and forth, and he broke out on a big sweat. Then he started to shake..the vet came out and they took him back in. And Arnie being who he is walked so proud with his tail elevated, he most definitely did not want to give the appearance he was very ill..I had read that he was tsken to a quite place to recover. But from what I don't know..could have been extreme case of colic??? But he has not come back ..some one keeps saying he is back, but that is not him, this one they are trying to pass of as Arnie has a back left White small sock...not him..the boy is a solid black..
@chrisunderwood2524 I even went back to check buskas footage from last year, buska was the one to first pick up on Arnie the tourist hater..I think he coined the name Arnie. I don't know who this horse is, but you and I know its not Arnie.
The horse you are referring to was NOT " Arnie " his mane was on the opposite side , the name was used to get views ! As in any all black horse gets " oh it's Arnie " . There has been a mystery as to which horse was originally nicknamed " Arnie " by I think Buska , John , London City Walks was told it was Rarden the mare , but she has one sock . So who the original " Arnie " was is still unknown !
@kathellison8084 the mysterious Arnie... I'd like to know who the Lifeguards horse was, back in the summer of last year was slurping the salt off people, he never bit just nibbled, John nicknamed him a dorse as his tongue was always poking out.. I had a soft spot for him
Wonder what the guard saw that noone else seemed to notice well done to the uoung lady who went to fetch the MoD. As for handsome young Arnie well done pal if the humans cant get you the respect u deserve from irritating humans then you go get that respect in the words of my ADHD son its 'bitey bitey timey timey' lol xx
The second horse after the changeover immediately started trying to go for people. He's fairly mellow in this upload but he's very well known for being a biter.
Posing and hand gestures are disrespectful. Don't salute if you are not a soldier. The tourists in the front should be pushed back same time as the tourists in the courtyard. There was no reason to get the police.
The Guard ASKED HER to get the police, for a reason about which we know nothing. He was clearly staring at someone or something just before he asked the tourist to take action for him.
I looked at the clip a few times ... it looked like the Guard was looking at the crowd to the left, then asked the lady in blue to get the police...maybe someone was picking pockets further down...pretty sure the horse hadnt bit anyone..maybe tried...but I tell ya doing a shift with all those people milling would give me the heeby jeebies thats for sure....
@@joyceroberts3886 The Guard leaned forward and asked her to go and tell the Police that he needed them. It looked as if he had seen something and wanted to tell them.
The only point of the horse and rider is as a tourist attraction but perhaps it would be better to have a sign saying 'don't touch the horse and keep clear of the box' and draw a box on the pavement?
The POINT of the horse and Guard is to GUARD. That officer is on duty! These tourists are using the opportunity take photos but these are serving soldiers, high ranked and very skilled NOT a tourist attraction! How rude
@@MelanaC What are they 'guarding' - the gates are open - anyone is free to wander in? Maybe 100's of years ago they were genuinely there to stop intruders getting to the King - but not any more. They are a tourist attraction - that's not disrespectful and it is only a tiny part of their job.
