If there was one Villain in villainous that you could have in the game, who would it be? If you have a rule question - check the FAQ in the description first! CORRECTION for Lucifer - His effect is always on, meaning that wherever he moves or is moved - you will place trapped tokens on all applicable hero's in the location.
I feel like the creators of Villainous are taking notes on the customs and fans and it’s so cool. There was this Zera custom that requires her to play young Kovu, then play adult Kovu to defeat Simba, like Lady Tremaine, along with her traping her enemies, like Edgar and Clatan. Also we finally have more lock token characters 😁
You can really see the influence of Marvel Villainous had on the design of Gaston and Lady Tremaine. Their boards and decks break much of the conventions that prior expansions had. It makes me excited to see how the Horned King will play.
Wow very interesting. I kind of skipped over the Vilainous game but after watching this I think im going to add it to my list. I also want to compliment you on the quality of your video. its very cool :D
YES PASCAL!😍 Another Quality Vid!! Love the Lighting!! Did you know someone recommended your channel in a target review, I think its under the Cruella expansion! You are doing great things!!
Woah that is so so cool! I would love to see that video and thank them. If you ever find it again please link it! I appreciate stuff like that so much 💜 thank you!
@@LordoftheBoard very welcome! its actually on target.com, under the reviews for perfectly wretched , it wont let me link here, so I will find you on twitter and send it!
Such a great video! Great ... what do call 'em ... like, animations and artwork. Watching Ravensburger's playthrough. I'll rewatch this later and make a better comment. lol
I just played my second game with Lady Tremaine, and she is already one of my favorites. The way she can still function without too many actions makes your strategy so interesting. It was a very contested game where the three of us were all the despicable plot characters. Gaston won but it was the most enjoyable match I had ever played.
I’m waiting for the expansion to come out soon I’m excited I haven’t seen all the cards and the whole boards and stuff but I’m ready for it. Lady Tremaine is basically The Evil Queen, Ursula and Jafar combined. My villains that I would do for another expansion is Oogie Boogie, AUTO from Wall-E, and Judge Frollo. Keep up the great work!
Lady Tremaine's objective sounds super fun! I did expect it to be something about placing the sisters and the Prince at the same location while having Cinderella trapped in her room or some of the sort. But the items make the game play so according to the movie. Already ordered my copy of the game.
@Lord of the Board; I have three questions: * If I have already played Ball Gown Anastasia or Ball Gown Drizella in the Ballroom; and someone attacks me with a fate action, playing "Ball Gown Cinderella". Does that mean my "allies" will be removed from the Ballroom? * Could you explain to me how Bruno's ability would be useful for; I mean if he's going to be moving Lucifer, would that mean that Bruno would be automatically trapped right? * If I move Lucifer to another location that already has a hero, that hero will be automatically trapped?
No if the ballgown sisters make it in before ballgown cinderella you are good! No movement of them as allies is made. Also Bruno is helpful because you can move Lucifer from a location you want Jaq at potentially. To pop off the ability and clear an item. Or you may play Bruno to Jaqs location to force trap Jaq so you can use Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo on Jaq to destroy items.
@@LordoftheBoard do you reply to all your comments? Because I remember commenting on your Jafar video, about the oasis, and you replied then too. It’s really nice to comment and know that the creator will actually read the message.
Wow, she seems a lot more fun and strategic than I would've guessed! Both her and Gaston seem really fun to play, I can't wait to see your video about The Horned King!
OMG this is such a cool complex villain! Hey can you make a video comparing all the villains together on which ones are the easiest to play to which ones are the hardest to play?? I want to get my friends into this game but I want to have some suggestions for which ones are the easiest to play to help them get into it more.
I came here just to have LUCIFER explained, because I couldn't figure out why I would ever want to play him if he costs 2 more power than TRAPPED, and can't vanquish. The card's text should have read: "Whenever Lucifer is played to or moves to a new location, place a trapped token on a hero there. That trapped token is removed when Lucifer moves."
Thanks for another great video! I already love your style and presentations, but now you add the nuclear effect of Pacale!!!! Swooning here. Back to Villainous-- I love playing complex characters like Pete who needs a long game and strategy. Lady Tremaine looks similar with some very cool effects. 3 conditions!!!!!!
Hey Lord of the Board! This video and FAQ was so helpful, thank you. I just got a copy of the game and played my first one as Tremaine. So fun! The only thing I wasn’t clear on was weather or not The Glass Slippers fate cards cover the top two action spaces like hero cards do. As an item, do they float above the space or cover the actions?
Fascinating. Considering Heroes still block actions, and there really isn't a lot if move hero control, I wonder how she keeps the action economy up? I guess you stack those 4 Fate cards to get whiffing items for as long as you can.
What an interesting Villain, and a great review! I'm very interested to see how she has so much power... those seem like expensive cards and it's gonna be tough going to Cinderella's Room to just discard and gain power. Really excited to try this!
Yeah! I just find with lack of cards you need to play at times and most of your board covered you naturally accumulate some side power :) I’m excited for you to try too!
A couple of things I'm not clear on: Do normal Drizella and Anastasia have to be played to the board first before you can play their ballroom versions, or can you play the ballroom versions as soon as you find them? Can you put items in the Ballroom when it's unlocked?
The normal versions of Anastasia and Drizella are costs for the ballgown versions to be played, so you can’t play them without discarding the others. As for the other question! Check the FAQ in my profile 😊
So if Cinderella becomes trapped does that nullify her ability to become Ball Gown Cinderella? Also if a trap token is removed from a hero can is be reused later?
I’m so excited!!! I already ordered it and I’m ready to see how the horn king will be played. I wish they would create a big box for all the villains to fit comfortably so I won’t have to pull out five boxes to play with! I modified all of my boxes already so I could sleeve all the cards😂
Indeed, Jaq cannot be moced to the ballroom, that is exactly the place where items can be placed to keep them safe. It fits because Jaq is a horse during the ball so he can't do a thing about the items in that context
It does not. Visious practically jokes only allows you to choose which card is played and where it is played. If it is an effect or a hero with an effect, your opponent still chooses what happens with it.
Peut-être l’un des personnages les plus intéressants à jouer jusqu’à présent. Plein de mécaniques, il faut penser à plein de choses et le faire surtout correctement . Hâte que la version française sorte !
@@t.lanfield1936 lucky you 😩. I can play with the English version but I already got the french versions until the 3rd extension ... so I’ll wait the 4th one until it comes out in France.
Very interesting facts with Lady Tremaine. Jaq can actually be used to destroy a glass slipper. I never go back on my word is a way to find if you will draw him then hold onto a Vicious Practical Jokes pull Jaq and then force him into Cinderella's room then BAM the Slipper is shattered cause that is classified as an item so if it's the only one there that's an instant shatter. Lucifer is also a good ally. Not only does he trap ones that are played or moved to his location their effects are nullified before the token is placed. Not only that if you move Lucifer that trap token stays. So lets say you see Fairy Godmother coming in your fate deck and you have vicious practical jokes. Well play that and put her at Lucifer's location she can't summon Ball Gown Cinderella now and her other effect is moot. It's essentially an infinite trapped card that you can move. Even Bruno is not safe but it will basically make you waste a trap token so I can see why he has that effect. I can now see Tremaine mostly relies on what is in her Fate Deck. If she knows what's coming then she can seriously put a stop to any fates played on her. She's essentially like Yzma peeking into her Fate deck and nullifying anything that would hurt her the most. Combined with her And One More Thing card which gives you a free Discard and Draw up you can go through her deck very fast and get to your objective quickly before anyone can stop you.
I feel like she is a little shorter than those. And can honestly be somewhat of a wild card, there are games that can go so fast with her if the cards line up right. But per a normal game... I would put her length some time under Gothell and Cruella.
So cool!!! You do such an incredible job 🙂 Do you know for sure Lucifer’s ability is a one-time use? It seems like if that was the case, they would have have worded it “When Lucifer is played...” but it does seem like the overall wordings are a bit different in this set. It also would seem like Bruno’s ability is pointless is moving Lucifer does nothing to affect Lady Tremaine. But maybe I’m missing something?
CORRECTION for Lucifer - His effect is concidered always on, meaning that wherever he moves or is moved - you will place trapped tokens on all applicable hero's in the location.
me and my family have been trying to figure out how Vicious Practical Jokes work. Scenario, if there was two cards Glass slipper and sweet nightingale. i have no allies, and so could i pick sweet nightingale and it causes it to be discarded? and if i were to have an ally could i use sweet nightingale gale to use it to my advantage to move my own ally? i hope i get an answer because iv been searching and searching for an answer.
You choose the card - your opponent chooses the effect of the card. So if you chose sweet nightingale your opponent would still activate the effect. Also it says isn’t he rules when picking a fate card you have to pick one that is usable. So if there were no allies you would have to play the glass slipper in that case.
@@LordoftheBoard Why not? It's an Item. Juju can put Frog Forms in the Fortune pile, and The Gospel Truth can discard Mortality Potions, and Cruel can be played when a Hero with an attached Item, Fate or Villain, is moved, and Deception can be played when Captain Hook has two Pixie Dusts in his Realm.
I'd love for oogie boogie to come in , I can see him have a special gambling mechanic that involves his dice and I'd like Clayton to come in , I can see him being like cruela but he'd have to defeat gorillas and take them to the boat. other characters I'd like would be sheer khan , lotso bear , Hopper, syndrome , Randall, headless horses man , and like demona
Question for Lady Tremaine's Character: Can Drizella or Anastasia be played anywhere in the realm with the exception of the ballroom? I was playing her recently and we played that they had to be played to Cinderella's Room but it seemed next to impossible to get anywhere close to the final goal. Am I missing something? Thanks for the help!
I kind of took a look through the comments already, so if this was already asked im sorry. Can any cards besides the prince, ballgown cinderella, and ballgown sisters be played to the ballroom? I feel like you could easily win as Lady Tremaine if you can place all of your item cards inside the ballroom because other heros can't be placed there to remove the items in the ballroom. Very confusing lol
Am I able to play Invitation from the king card before I play basic dress Drizella or Anastasia? Do I play their basic versions first before I can play invitation?
also if no one knew. i found an answer for lucifer. If a hero is played or moved to his location, lucifer traps them. if lucifer is played to a hero’s location or moved to their location, they are trapped. Also when lucifer traps a hero, the hero is automatically trapped and their effect is nullified before it is activated.
Thanks so much of this guide.. but i have one question about lucifer. The card state that you may place one trap token if a hero shares his location, i think that this effect may be applied whether he is played/moved/or even if any other hero jumps onto any location that has he on it..am i right?
With the Villain Guide clarifying that The Key can move Ball Gown Cinderella even though you can't fulfill the instructions to Trap her, do you think maybe Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo is in the same boat? That maybe it can Move a Hero even if it isn't Trapped? I'd be really excited if it turns out you and the designers liked this version best! I have such high hopes for Lucifer being an MVP. :D
Thank you for bearing us. I know it feels like a thankless job, especially with people like me. But regardless of all the noise and hubbub? You should remember that this weekend my son is going to be drinking from a Gaston mug while playing this, my daughter is probably going to sabotage her own Tremaine game by looking for a SPECIFIC daughter to marry off, and we're all going to have a blast. And you are a huge part of why that's going to happen, and so is Ravensburger, so thank you!
Hi, I am new to your channel, and I find your content to be quite helpful. I've started playing villainous a couple of months ago and some things are confusing me when playing with Lady Tremaine. 1. Can you please make clear what it is meant by removing glass slippers? They are discarded or put back into the fate deck and shuffled? 2. The Lady Tremaine's Cane item card has to be discarded after using it to dispose of a slipper or you can use its ability more than once? My friends play this game in a way that if an item ability is used it has to be discarded even if it doesn't state so on the card itself. They use item ability card, that are not attachments like the cane card, as a play once and discard card. I do not think this is correct. Can you clarify please? Thanks so much for helping. Great work, really enjoy your content.
1. Removed from the gameboard and placed in the discard 2. When you activate a card you do not discard it! So the cane can be used multiple times :) Thanks for watching! Hope this helps out.
On the Board Game Geek website, there's a Despicable Plots FAQ document that says Vicious Practical Jokes can be used to play an unplayable effect card. Is this true? I've heard it both ways.
There is something that’s really bothering me about this board. I am certain in the film it is always referred to as ‘the palace’... never once do I recall it being called ‘the castle’... they’ve not named it right!!! Doesn’t mean I’m not excited for this to come out (although I’m in the U.K. so will be waiting a lot longer!)
It's not in your FAQ. My fiance says I can't play the key unless Cinderella is in the realm. Is this true? Or can I just play it to get the activate action.
I just got this set as my first Villainous set (BatB is one of my favorite movies, it's required) and played Tremaine for the first time tonight. Was really underwhelmed, but now that I've watched this video I understand that I played her COMPLETELY wrong. This makes me look forward to trying her again, thanks!
@@LordoftheBoard one thing I'm a little confused with is this: when you play the regular Anastasia or Drizella, must you play them each at your first location, then play their ball gown by discarding and paying the 2 power, and move them like your moving the Titans with Hades, then play Invitation to unlock the ball room, the activate Wedding Bells to marry either one of them to the Prince. Idk why I went on that long lol. My biggest question is: do they start at the first location and must you start with the regular versions first?
@@davidstone281 you must start with regular versions first. And they can be played anyway but the ballroom. Then you have to dress them up by discarding them and paying the 2 power, replacing them with their ballgown versions. Then moving the ball gown into the ballroom :)
@@LordoftheBoard ok so I can start them right next to the ballroom then? So in other words, Tremaine is gonna be targeted constantly with Fates the minute Anastasia or Drizella hit the board lol
Would anyone please be able to clarify for me the draw quantity provided by "And One More Thing"? Do you discard any amount of cards to gain 4, or is it draw until you have 4 in hand? The former feels incredibly broken as a potential draw 4 on any discard action. TIA!
Glass Slipper says "Lady Tremaine cannot win the game while a Glass Slipper is her Realm." It doesn't say while it's IN her realm. Now I wonder how long it'll be before Disney would allow them to fix that error. Then again, I guess those glass slippers are more special than I thought.
Does anyone know if you defeat the glass slippers once can they be brought back? Cause ballgown Cinderella says find both glass slippers and put them on the board but if you already defeated them do you still put them on the board?
I already seems clear to me that Lady Tremaine will be the weakest of the 3 Villains. Searching fir (multiple) singletons, in worse cases in a specific order (like here) is a sure sign of a hard to win villain.
Ok another question/thought - I’m assuming with the Key that you put a trap token on the Hero FIRST so that you don’t have to discard an Item when moving Jaq for example. Is that right? I’m also wondering if you can put more than 1 Trapped Token on a Hero. I’m guessing you can since that would be a great strategy against Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!
Ahhh Ratigans! 🙃 Thank you for clarifying! Then it sounds like you almost never want to Trap Jaq unless you REALLY want to move him to Cinderella’s Room. I could see using the Key on Bruno going either way since chasing away Lucifer isn’t as big of a deal as losing an Item. Lady T. seems like such a fun interesting puzzle - can’t wait to play her!!
@@ry4christ25 yeah sometimes you want to avoid trapping Jaq so bibbidi can’t effect him and Oo his ability. However when fating LADY t. You can use a fate card to move Lucifer to Jaqs location to force trap him. Then next fate hopefully you can use BIBBIDI.
@@ry4christ25 not allowed. Only those 4 characters can be in the ballroom. Nothing else can ever enter. No items can be ruining the ballroom ya know :)
You mentioned that Jaq should be trapped as soon as possible. But why? If he is not trapped, then he can't be moved, so his ability is pointless. Bibbibi-bobbidi-boo can only move trapped heroes, and there is no way to move untrapped heroes, so I don't see the point in trapping Jaq. This seems like an oversight on the part of the developers. Or am I missing something?
Good point! It’s not a developer miss. And it’s exactly as it reads. It makes sense seeing as lady Tremaine is so dependent on her items, you will still likely lose an item to him when played though. So that would be my bad. Not the developers. :)
@@LordoftheBoard Ok, thanks for the clarification. I do think Lady Tremaine looks really interesting to play, and can't wait to do so. Would you mind me asking another question? Normally, Allies have abilities that say "when played" or "when moved" or both. Lucifer's wording doesn't say this, so would you be able to clarify when exactly his effect can be used, please?
@@mrnegative4482 yes I pinned the correction right when I posted CORRECTION for Lucifer - His effect is concidered always on, meaning that wherever he moves or is moved - you will place trapped tokens on all applicable hero's in the location.
