I’d love to see Madame Medusa, Madam Mim, King Candy, Judge Claude Frollo, and, because he had more interaction with Pinocchio, Stromboli and The Coachman, “Honest John” J. Worthington Foulfellow.
@@fivebearrugs After rewatching Pinocchio thanks to Disney +, I realized that Honest John and Gideon had a much more recurring appearance and interaction with Pinocchio and I think they would be a great and surprising addition to the game
@@perrydolson1549 Many years ago I considered them as only henchmen as they weren’t “big” like the others, and they were doing jobs for Stromboli (sort of) and Coachman. I later realized that they were just as main antagonists as the others, but they actually accomplished their goals.
@@LordoftheBoard Kind of a wasted opportunity for Gaston's figure to not be flexing his biceps, but I guess the box wouldn't have room for how big they are to spare.
I saw the new pack on the shelf at target! Brought it to the register and they were like oops it's not supposed to be out yet, and I couldnt buy it. Ill be patient, but cant wait to play them. Love the guides too, keep up the good work my friend.
I was not expecting The Horned King to be one of the next playable characters. The guy is absolutely terrifying. So terrifying that he is the reason The Black Cauldron was rated PG-13. And is to date still Disney's only PG-13 animated film. I was really hoping for Shere Khan, Shan Yu, Clayton, or Frollo to be the third character instead of Lady Tremaine.
I can't wait to buy this expansion 😍 I just hope they won't stop here, I would love to get an expansion with Madam Mim/ Frollo, or maybe a Pixar expansion. This expansion still looks great and I am most excited for Lady Termaine!🤩🤩
I didn't know you had done all of these strategy guides. I'll be watching more of these over the coming weeks as I love this game but surprisingly, I have never won it (0 for 10).
Hi, Sam! I don't understan Mrs. Potts and Chip's Ability. It says: "When played, you may move all Heroes of Fate Items to new locations". So, if Maurice's Invention is indeed a common Item and must therefore be attached to a Hero, why would the card specify "Fate Items" if they are not to be moved independenty? It makes me wonder if Maurice's Invention is maybe a unique Item/Hero hybrid and the misprint is not the 4 Strength, but rather the card type... What are your thoughts on that?
Hey the intent is that it is moved to another hero and attached- because it’s effect is specific to the location it is in. In the rulebook it states that if an fate item is moved or played it must be attached to an existing Hero. So this effect requires that RULEBOOK knowledge to know how it would operate. I hope that helps :)
18 Villains in Total... Can't wait for more!!! Prince Hans, Bellwether, Bill Cipher, Oogie Boogie, Mr. Burns, AUTO, etc. would be great for next expansions imo
I’m super excited for Gaston now! He looks really cool. One question I had was does Monsieur D'Arque have to remove obstacles from his location or just from anywhere?
I think there's an extra fringe use for Show Me The Beast if both Beast and Belle are in play. Since I assume you can control where each goes, you could use it to remove a token from one of the middle locations and place one on one of the side locations which have have heroes that when defeated clear it, letting you shift a token into a more favorable position. Very fringe, but still a possible combo.
I am super hyped to play as Gaston in the future! He seems super fast to win with in the right hands, but it would take a lot of Power gains to do it. Am curious to see what Lady Tremaine and Horned King are like, so should everyone expect to see the next guide video release in the next week or two? Keep up the great work with your channel as always!
For lady tremaine, when she gets to pick which fate card to use and where to use it, could you clarify how that works? Mainly 1. If one of the cards technically isn’t useable, would she have to pick the remainder? And 2. For the “where”, is that mainly just for heroes, or does it include where effects would take place as well?
Yes you always have to play a fate card you can use. When you use the card. you place it. But if it has an effect your opponent would choose the effect.
Disney does and always has owned the rights to The Nightmare Before Christmas. It was just originally released under the banner of Touchstone Pictures (Another studio owned by Disney) instead of the normal Walt Disney Pictures name because Disney was afraid the movie would be too dark for kids. Oogie Boogie and the rest of the characters from the movie are now and have always been Disney characters.
@@AboveAverageAdam i meant another company buying the exclusive license from Disneyto make Nightmare Before Christmas branded games. Similar to EA buying Star Wars games for 10 years
Seing this video was a total surprise ! I'm fond of Villainous, I'm glad more extensions are coming. Too bad we have to wait up to one year to have them translated to french ^^; Anyway, great guides. Can't wait to learn how Lady Tremaine and Horned King are played.
My hopeful pitch for the 5th expansion for Villanious. Lurking Shadows featuring villains who love to dwell in the darkness. They plot and plan and sneakily work to achieve their wicked schemes. Featuring William Clayton (Tarzan), Oogie Boogie (Nightmare before Christmas), and Judge Claude Frollo(Hunchback of Notre Dame)
@@LordoftheBoard Gaston was pretty much confirmed. Lady Tremaine I knew was inevitable bc Cinderella is so popular that I knew Tremaine was gonna be in the game. The Horned King is what surprised me and has gotten me so excited. How would you describe his playstyle when compared to the other villains in the game? What other villains would give an example of how he plays?
I'm interested in what all the fate cards are. Seems like you should never play Maurice? What is Maurice's Invention? With a measly 2 strength on Maurice, it seems like you'd just be helping Gaston. I can see the potential of playing Beast, but that looks like it can severely backfire too. Looks like you could even play "Take Me Instead", play Beast on yourself, and have an extra way of moving allies around the realm. Gastons Fate deck is intriguing.
What do you do with the other revealed cards in Take Me Instead? Are they discarded or are the shuffled and returned to the deck? Thank you again for making these videos
Do you know how many copies there are of each card in the villain deck? In particular, I'm wondering how many copies there are of swoon and Hunter's instinct.
Your videos are absolutely amazing! Do you think Gaston is an easier or harder character to play? (On a list between Dr. Facilier and Scar ;) ) Just one question on the video: does Gaston win immediately when all obstacles are removed or does he have to wait until his next turn?
It's cool to discover the new Villainous box! Now it depresses me to know that I am still gone for a year of waiting haha. --- Just as I said in the comments 1 year ago, the box of Cruella is only now available in French. Besides, I'm expecting my order tomorrow: D
Thanks for the amazing video! Awesome that Gaston has 2 Vanquish actions! So if I’m understanding correctly, Gaston can win on an opponent’s turn using “Beautiful As Me”?!? 😱
If you haven't gotten a set yet I would recommend Evil Comes Prepared only because the villains are a little easier to play at first glance. However if you have a favorite villain choose the box he is in. Every Box is great!
Let me know if I'm parsing Show Me the Beast! correctly: If Beast is in the realm, but not Belle, you remove an Obstacle. If Belle is in the realm, but not Beast, you replace an Obstacle. If both are in the realm, you try to remove an Obstacle but fail because Belle is around, then replace an Obstacle, then get a refund on the cost of the card. Is that how it works?
Or maybe it’s if both are in the Realm, you could remove one obstacle and then replace a different obstacle? That seems like it could still be helpful depending on what you’re setting up and which cards you play next.
Yes I have no confirmed it will do whatever effect applies with whatever is in your realm. So if the beast is there it is at its best. If both are there you can manipulate the obstacles and then get your power back :)
I'm excited to see who else they add. I'd like Clayton from Tarzan, I can see it now something like scar but with a lock at the end like hook mixed where you have find the gorillas and hunt them.
Which of the expansion are easiest and hardest in this ranking? Easiest: Maleficent Prince John Easy: Cruella De Vil Scar Queen of Hearts Average: Pete Jafar Captain Hook Hades Challenging: Yzma Ursula Dr. Facilier Hardest: Mother Gothenburg Evil Queen Ratigan
I'm looking forward to this, I already pre-order my copy from Target. I'm definitely looking forward to playing as all three villains and adding this to my other Villainous games. I hope they do Chernabog and Oogie Boogie for an future Halloween expansion.
@@white_rabbit456 Well original I would have picked the Horned King but since he is going to be in this expansion. For the third one I would pick either King Candy (Turbo) or Winifred from Hocus Pocus.
Gaston is the only villain that doesn't get a gain 3 power spot and the only villain that doesn't get a move an Ally or Item spot. He also has some pretty useless cards like Swoon, which costs 1 power to play in order to get 2 power, but you have to replace an obstacle. The cost of removing an obstacle is basically two power so you are just setting yourself back. Five dozen eggs is far too expensive for the added two strength, and you only get two move item or ally cards in the deck.
And I would LOVE to see the bad guy from Big Hero 6 in any future Marvel expansion for this game...lol Think about it, his objective could be like Hela or Cruella where you have Microbot tokens you have to collect. And you win the game once you have an X amount of microbots. 🤷♂️
@@LordoftheBoard just thought of another one Hopper. From A Bug's Life 😳 dude that would be so fucking badass. My wife and I love your vids by the way. We host a game night every Saturday night with our friends and family. Disney Villainous, Marvel Villainous, Here to Slay and soon, again thanks to your vids, Root. Keep it up man. I was so excited when I opened RU-vid and seen you covering the new expansion lol
“Show Me the Beast” has me a bit confused. Obviously if just Beast is in play, it’s always helpful to remove an obstacle. If just Belle is in play, replacing an obstacle could help you if you had only 2 obstacles left and needed a third one so you could play “Get Out” to remove 3 obstacles to win the game. But what exactly happens if BOTH Beast and Belle are in play? Do you remove an obstacle and then replace a possibly different obstacle to set up something like “Come Into the Light?” You’ve basically “moved” the obstacle so that it’s easier to remove. Or do you simply gain the 2 power because obstacles can’t be removed while Belle is in play? But then you just gained back the power you spent on the card so what would be the point? Just to get it out of your hand?
It is treated as if you only gain the one benefit depending on if the certain stipulations are met. So for example. If both belle and beast are in the realm you only gain 2 power. Basically just a card to hold until beast is left. Or belle if you want to put on back to make you seem not as close.
@@LordoftheBoard Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying! Or you could use it to set yourself up to play “Get Out” to take out 3 obstacles. Because you have to take out exactly 3 with that card, right?
@@ry4christ25 so actually that is an implied up too! The only reason it says “up to” in the “come into the light” card is because it must be from one location :)
My question with the entire expansion is that this seems to diverge from the holding no more than 4 cards rule from the original board. E.g. Swoon only says draw three cards. But it does not say discard. Also, if you vanquish a hero using the 2+ allies on top of that you can have 9-10+ cards in your hand if you have La Fou at your vanquish location. There is a similar draw # of card in The Horned Kings deck. So, do we just hold cards / not draw until we are under 4? Or do we need to discard by the end of our turn?
I played as Gaston today against my roommate as The Horned King and I was absolutely annihilated hahaha I was just too slow and i couldn't do anything significantly to stop him!
With all if the expansions so far I've noticed a trend that each villain seems to be from a different era of Disney Gaston: Renaissance Tremaine: Classic Horned King: Dark Ages With that being said I feel the next expansion should include: Frollo: Renaissance Madam Mim: Classic King Candy: Modern
This is Villainous. It is a boardgame you can purchase at your local gamestore. Online. Or at Target even! you basically each play a villain in Disney and have to be the first to complete your nefarious Task before the others. Avoiding the good guys of your story along the way.
@@LordoftheBoard I see... I don't know, the cards seem pretty unfinished for me But this is my idea, and I will buy the game for sure... When they gonna translate it in italian 😂
I don't know how I feel about his realm... one of my biggest problems with Marvel Villainous was the realm layout. I mean, we've never seen anyone not have a gain 3 power action, or have two play a card actions with a fate... it just doesn't seem right...
Just wait before making any assumptions. The castle is always covered. Provides the least power. Even if it’s not covered. And power matters a ton to him. It feels right.
I think it will also be the strategy of saving up his power and getting those big plays in with his effects like he said in the video. Maybe people won't fate you as early on if it looks like you're getting wrecked
@@LordoftheBoard Me neither, but it's so much fun to discover all the various spirits and how to play them. I'd really like to know what you think of it. I'd invite you to come and play with me, but Germany is a bit far for you I guess. ;)
@@ArgyleGamer it is the first of its kind. I’m sure there will be loads of questions on it. But it’s pretty simple. You can’t control it since it’s not yours. You can vanquish it and remove it from play.
Your explanation of how it works makes total sense. So I’m confused why Ravensburger clarified in the Lady Tremaine play through that Maurice’s Invention must attach to a Hero and is discarded when said Hero is vanquished. Then are you supposed to ADD it’s strength to the Hero?
