Watching him starting off as very guarded and telling a few lies, to the realization that he slipped up and then thought "oh shit, might as well go for it, I kinda like this" was awesome. Great job doing the interview! Everyone has a story and it's great that you can encourage people to just open up, the good and the bad, and let go

The Thai sex industry is painted as such a 'beautiful thing' and the sex workers are almost de humanised as just sex toys and not actual human beings. Let's not forget alot of these sex workers are underage, being pimped out, being forced to work to feed their families, forced to look a certain way to appeal to people who want to use them for their bodies. It's a very seedy culture and these people are human beings and not commodities. Alot of the sex workers will face violence, sti's etc and have to work all hours of the day and night. I'm actually disappointed in this interview and Mark almost encouraging this by going on about how gorgeous lady boys are

I’m so proud of this man for eventually opening up. You could tell he doesn’t feel comfortable talking about this at all and as he started opening up there was a massive amount of relief as he shared his experiences at the end. It’s like he started to own his sexuality and seemed to feel empowered by it as opposed to feeling awkward or embarrassed. Mark did such a great job putting him at ease! 🙏

Awesome interview. At first I thought he wouldn't be very open with you, but it was nice to see him open up and be honest near the end. My wife is so excited to see you here, and would be happy to help translate if you need during your interviews. We're both huge fans of your work! I think it's important to understand two things about Thai culture and Thailand's Narcotics laws when it comes to your questions about drug use: First is that drug use is extremely prevalent within the sex industry, and throughout Thailand's rural areas, specifically Methamphetamine (MA, Ice, or Yaba as it's known locally). There are an estimated 2.5 million MA users in the country (3.4% of the population compared to about 5% in the US), and it is often the drug of choice for those working in the sex industry. It has the dual effect of keeping you up all night, and increasing libido. This obviously helps when you're standing on stage for 6 to 8 hours every weekend. The second point is far more important, and that is the fact that the Narcotics Control laws in Thailand are very... very severe when it comes to trafficking or dealing in MA, despite the fact that it is a highly used substance. The offense often results in a 15- 20 year jail sentence (even for small amounts) and still carries the death penalty as a punishment, although no one has been executed for such an offense in the last 10+ years. I would be shocked if anyone went on the record as a MA user on camera in Thailand since it could be construed as an admission of guilt and carry said punishment, and/or deportation and a 10 year ban from entering the country.

This genuinely seems like one of the most empty lifestyles I can imagine. No loved ones and spending your twilight years having sex with prostitutes who are just using you as a cash machine. Each to their own I suppose.

funny how he only says "i'm sorry?" when it's a question about sex or the girls. i've noticed that in a few interviews - when it's something getting to the heart of the issue that's more personal, people have a tendency to say "what?", "excuse me?" or ask for the question to otherwise be repeated.

These are brilliant! Ive lived in Thailand for 13 years / Asia for 20. The world of the Ladyboy, Nana Plaza, and Thai people in general is something that is difficult to explain in words and something you learn by being here and feeling it. Damn I wish I had the chance to meet you, Mark and share my thoughts on it all but I emailed you too late!!! Moving to Asia when I was 23, it changed my life and perspective on what it meant to be from a Western culture. Once Thailand "starts to make sense" to you, it is impossible to leave it though some people may never physically return. It changes your view point in so many ways. And not only in a sexual sense BTW, their religious beliefs, the food culture, the "Sanook" culture, Songkran festival, it goes on and on the way this country can change you. This guy fits every single person I’ve meet that live those lifestyles. All the ones I’ve meet go somewhere in South America though. They have jobs that allow them to make money in a certain block of time then go on drug and sex benders. Fun but seemingly empty life from what I’ve seen.

I really wanted to enjoy this story but this dude totally gives me the creeps (not because he likes transgendered). He reminds me of one of those guys I’ve seen on documentaries that gets busted for sexual exploitation of a minor in Thailand. His whole demeanor made my skin crawl. His initial attitude, his outfit, and how vague he was when Mark would ask questions made me dislike this particular interview.

Not facing judgement from their families and communities, surprise surprise, builds a confident human who can find inner peace. I think that is what we are missing in the US. So much judgement and labels here. Just let people be themselves and spread love.
