Mark Laita of @SoftWhiteUnderbelly shares some of the most impactful moments he's experienced after recording thousands of people who encapsulate the deep-rooted traumas of the human condition.
It's so interesting the world and people whom live in it...This channel delves into lives and truths,Keeps my brain so stimulated I had a dream of being a helper for the cause...And ended up handing out Xanax to the people of skid row...😂
Mark is such a warm and caring guy who deserves more than what the negative things done and said because deep down he wanted the best for everyone he has met. He is also human and works hard at what he does.
The fact that mark got emotional when he said everything we do is out of love or fear shows his heart and genuine desire to improve humanity. That’s not something you can fake.
He cried bc he has been in fear mode.especially with The Whittakers. He feels bad for the things he has done in his life in general. too. When you get to his age in your sixties. Everything hits home that you ever have done bad. The golden years are full of different emotions that we don't even get yet... If we get to those ages.
@@watchinvidzwatchinvidz7691Where did you come up with the assumption that he is in fear mode, and that he got emotional because of all the bad stuff he's done in life? That's not what he said, or what it means. Alot of people won't even understand or get what he is saying, and most of you will interpret it into something completely opposite of what was even said.
@@watchinvidzwatchinvidz7691 Worse than what he did to the Whittakers is what he did to Amanda. Mark is not innocent in the cause of Amanda's death, and if you listen, she told us over and over.... She tried to warn everybody, Mark IS NOT a good guy.
I'd say one of Mark's best attributes is the ability to listen to those he interviews without interruptions...he lets them talk & listens with his mind and heart.....that takes patience and great skill..he is one of the greatest interviewers...that is a gift that he has
@@494ava well I'm an atheist I couldn't care less what he is,that has nothing to do with the fact the dudes not really much of an interviewer at all.His whole deal is to let them tell their story but I've seen him get irritated if the subject veers in the wrong direction
No he's full of 💩. It's all about money. He sees people as commodities. He uses them & if they don't do what only he wants he throws them to the waste side & they end up in worse situations than before. Look at the Whittakers & Rebecca. If they aren't making him look 100% good all the time he disposes of them. Not ok.
"The world suffers a lot. Not because of the violence of bad people, but because of the silence of good people." I'm so glad that you broke that silence Mark!❤
Mark, I am a 56 year old woman. I love you. I am so thankful for what you are showing the world. You have a wonderful heart. Your empathy is so wonderful. Thank you Thank you!
Mark, You are sooooo blessed. You exude love; we see that. Thank you for being brave enough to step out of your comfort zone. You are an incredible inspiration to all! ❤❤❤
@Mrs.Happi? There are so many "angels amongst us".❤ When we actually take the time to look around? They show themselves through the selfless acts of random kindness they do.
I cannot process "not" seeing Mark in heaven. He deserves it so much, in fact, God has him here on earth "doing" all these works for Him and Mark doesn't even realize it.
I had the rare opportunity to work with Mr. Laita once before I knew about SWU and found him to be just as he appears, a gentleman who is an extraordinarily talented photographer of not only humans, but animals and products as well. Look up his other work and you'll understand he's among the top commercial and portrait photographers in the world.
Mark Laita always says he's not religious but he carries the heart of Jesus inside him, more than any other human I've ever known. He's down in the trenches with the broken & lowly every single day.
That's sad. Do you not realize this is a career he carved out for himself? I feel pity for 90% of you in the comments section. I'm not saying he's a bad guy, or a good guy, I don't know him, but the comments section is alarming.
Mark is my favorite creator! I love his channel. I use it as a teaching tool for my 13 year old. We come from a line of addicts and I fear for him. Mark gets so much back lash people can’t just see he’s a good human just because! He gives so much out of his own pocket. Marks a blessing!
The interviewer is fantastic. He lets the guest talk. How many interviewers talk over the guest constantly. And he really knows how to conversate without higging the spotlight
Mark you say you don’t read the Bible …that you really can’t see yourself doing so…but my friend you speak it over and over! You speak of forgiveness… the importance of it…actually it is the most important thing you say! Yes! Jesus says the same thing! Read Matthew 18:21-35. You speak Jesus Mark!! I got saved after experiencing a difficult life when I realized how much God loved me! You by doing what you do shows people the love of God!! Listen to Johnny the gang member again!! He speaks Jesus too!! And he spoke it to you! The most memorable story was Dream… I cry thinking of it and I pray for her!!! Because of you people pray for her!! Remember this “God does not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind” 2 Timothy 1:7! Thank you for what you do!! God bless you Mark!
Beautifully said and so true. God sees everything good in people, and wants us to be kind and caring to those in need. God also said, he who helps others, helps himself. People should strive to do their part to do better themselves, through better channels, cause drugs only make more misery and problems. 😌
My life has been difficult I'm no stranger to suffering. Through this path of lost so much faith in humanity and this guy helps me think we're not a lost cause.
Mark You Sir are a rare gem. When you choke up, so do i. I feel you. I, too wish i could change the world , stop the hate. Each day i go out, i will compliment, open doors, etc.. only because that is how we should treat each other. It's so much easier to love, than to hate! We are all here just trying to survive.. Lets work together.. Peace & Love
20 mins in……MARK, it’s called GRACE! If WE ALL, GIVE GRACE….our consciousness is gifted with empathy. EMPATHY is an act of LOVE FORGIVENESS is fueled by LOVE. LOVE is the EVERYTHING!
Children are delicate; they need love, hugs, explanations, guidance... Many broken children in adult bodies by no fault of their own, but hard to turn that around by the time they have already hurt themselves after being traumatized. Know your worth, value the worth of others and love those who feel unlovable. It seems so simple, until you come upon the wreckage. Great interview. Great portraits of humanity- up close, personal and uncomfortably raw. .
Children are fragile AND resilient, which is why at least 80% of the population isn't composed of monsters. Most people who were abused do NOT become abusers, addicts, and/or criminals.
Mark, your channel has educated me more than anything I could read or study. Its profound how much I have learned about myself and my family through you.
Mark Laita is one of my favorite people to listen to - he's made a difference in my life in how I view and understand people and their stories. He's an amazing person - I follow SWU and enjoy all his videos
I just adore Mark! He’s taught me so much about life just from watching his interviews. I’m a better mother because of him. I’ve encouraged my son to have a better relationship with his father. Everything starts in the home for kids.
He interviews and displays the most vulnerable people at the lowest points in their life and makes a fortune off of it, while paying them (according to him) $20-$100 bucks. Not saying it's not interesting and some may have been elevated by it, but it is the definition of explotation.
Oh Mark ! Your statement about being the least religious person ever. Can't understand one page of the Bible hit me very hard. Your actions are love based God is love brother. Jesus is the savior of all humanity.
God can be love without needing fucking Jesus. The supernatural can be real without being named the names for it in your book. God being real doesn't prove Jesus is.
@@glendohms9446 ok you are entitled to the opinion! I don't know what set you off so much you had to be foul mouthed and hateful? Anyway explain why the Entire planet has a calendar that revolves around Jesus ? Very real !
Mark you are the most incredible human being.. I’ve been following you a long time.. I’ve had a life of hardship and adversity and I love the way you present peoples lives! I’m loving this interview you speak so from the heart and passion.. the impact you have and will continue to have is beyond your comprehension right now.. massive respect and loyalty ❤
If Mark has kids, at least they will know that there’s a whole different side to life that exists in the world. Mark doesn’t live in a bubble. He sees every side of human nature and what people are capable of doing. Good and bad. Black and white and everything in between.
Mark claims he isn’t religious, and yet the things that deeply impact him: love & forgiveness are the foundations of Christianity. He says the Bible is “unreadable” but he is speaking Biblical principles.
“Religion” isn’t having a close relationship with God. “Religion” is traditions and rituals. Many people are Godly Christians, but not religious. Religion is what keeps people divided.
I've watched everything on SWU and Mark is the most respectable and compassionate man on RU-vid, he shares real stories of our real people living real lives, the good, the bad, the ugly, the nice, the nasty and all the things in-between. Yes it can be shocking and unimaginable but its gutsy , unique and extremely informative and interesting 👍 Stay true 2u Mark, I see you ❤ an Australian fan who cares 🇦🇺🦘🪃🫶
Mark’s guest are people you would typically disfavor and be repulsed, but he is such a GREAT interviewer, and nonjudgmental - like Christ would be, that you find the diamond(s) in each of his guest and Mark, I’d love to share a cup of coffee with you! You are Amazing!
I absolutely adore Mark. He’s such a genuine and beautiful person to a fault. I think he cares too much for people that don’t care or love themselves and in turn he gets hurt by them. Especially what the Whitakers are doing to him right now.
Caring too much can be a form of "self-harm". I just hope Mark & his team find a "healthy balance" that enables them to continue with their mission and also stay mentally and emotionally healthy.❤
Mark I watch you because you are true, compassionate, interesting and give a voice to people who society wants to judge and blame. Life doesn’t play out the same for all of us and I understand that. Thank you 🙏
This guy is 100% right. When you talk about it, your already wasting energy. I've met people who never finished their goals because all they did was talk about it, and eventually lost interest. In the simplest form everytime you talk about your goals, you are giving yourself a little dopamine hit. Imagine the feeling of when you truly 100% accomplished your goals? But then again imagining it will not help you much either. And this is where I say I love Nike's saying, Just Do It. Because that is how you accomplish goals.
I really like SWU and the fact that he helps people is great. Unfortunately some people have taken advantage of him abd his good will. If more people would act like him the world would be a better place.
Your doing gods work brother and I know one day you will find the love and direction god has given you. No doubt your day will come brother. See ya on the other side
Mark has been blessed. He is an absolute angel. God loves him and inspires him to dongood. I believe he is a modern day saint. Blessings Mark you are loved.
I thought he said he doesn’t have a wife now; he was married. But divorced, because he was married to his work. He’s so amazing! He truly deserves the best; I hope he finds it.
I love him. The more I see, the more I admire him!❤ At one point, I only saw him with the Whitakers & thought he was exploiting them. I've watched more interviews & sometimes I can't finish because they make me too sad. I once worked at an SPCA clinic for about 10 months. There are people who can do the hard things, but I'm not one of them. Mark can do the hard things.
If Mark is all of the things you mentioned above then he would still be married. Hes divorced like 70 percent of all couples in the United States. You live with someone then you see what they are really doing like
@@3nheaven Why does a divorce define him? Does that really make sense? Absolutely not. He has a passion for his work, and drive, and work ethic that is unmatched. Sometimes those qualities don’t mix well with a relationship, definitely not a marriage. Thats absolutely ok; you don’t have to be in a relationship or married to have good qualities, and wonderful things about you. That’s just such a ridiculous way to think.
And Mark, watching you extend kindness and love to those that have so many needs shows me that you know so much about what’s displayed in the life of Jesus. I pray you find Him!!!
No need to pray for that. He has a deep personal relationship with Jesus after having read "A Course in Miracles". I grew up "religious" and full of fear and shame. After reading this book, my eyes were opened to the reality of Jesus ❤
I believe Humanity will Always Prevail and suffering will always exist. There are great people on this planet that make a difference and if you can help instill and prove that Humanity will always Precail, then it will always. Mark and his team are Angels that walk the Earth.
I like Mark 💕 I think he is a genuine person, course of miracles is an amazing book , I have had my book for 10yrd now , I open it read a page .. and process the information
I have learned so, so much from Mark today. I am one of those broken people who had a horror filled life and even worse childhood. I am trying to forgive. I agree with hope and focus and concentration on what you want to do with this life and I am just now at almost sixty figuring it all out with therapy. I want to thank Mark for what he is doing . He is a true rare gem in a world of muddy rocks.
Unconditional forgiveness is not a AAA insurance plan for walking lightly on the earth. It’s like grasping at yet another formula to avoid suffering. It can lead to enabling others to be themselves at your expense which ultimately weakens boundaries and growth. But, hard won moments coming from suffering can lead to grace, to forgiveness and understanding which are divine.
Love or fear. I couldnt agree more. It takes courage to be vulnerable and to love without fear of getting hurt. On a side note, i love Mark's honesty and no-nonsense attitude. I reckon he'd be a person to sit down and have a coffee with, he seems to have learnt so much from his SWU project. Emotionally taxing but what a privilege to bear witness to so many people's journeys
My son's 3rd grade teacher had *ONE RULE in her class "Be Kind."* Think about it, if you're being kind, you ARE talking not yelling, walking not running, not say'n mean, things you know you're not supposed to do. So if you do it, then it's not kind either. But it goes deeper & deeper the more you think about it. It ultimately transformed my 4 kids/fam. Obviously I taught kindness and they were good kids but i didn't have full control. They'd tease each other, argue over petty stuff, etc. But "is that kind?" Id ask. Within a week the kids had fully caught on & ONE MONTH it was just so much more peaceful in the house. Today my kids are 24, 21, 17, 16 and I am do thankful for that ONE SIMPLE lesson. Mark's "Love or Fear" lesson needs followed up with the "Kind" lesson.
I love how Mark just talks and doesn't leave much room for Danny. Its exactly what he allows his interviewees do when he's on the other side. A good lesson for people hosting interviews. Shut the F up and let the subject just roll
The free things Danny said were drivel, and his questions weak. He's not a skilled or insightful interviewer, and neither is Mark. Many times Mark will ask a question the person he's filming has already clearly answered. Incredible how these two men have built successful channels out if no substance.
Mark has a true empathetic heart and He gets most all to open up in an honest way because they trust Him but some will never trust anyone or anything because of what they have been through
Love your selfless work and all the time and care you put into the people who are battling drug, addiction, trauma, homelessness, poverty, mental health problems, etc you are a wonderful friend and therapist and role model total respect
I would like to see his interviews complied as as research and presented to some type of government body as irrefutable evidence of the devastating long term outcomes of childhood abuse, neglect and SA assault. The goal being to change laws and some type of revolution in the foster system and protection and care of children overall. He is the only person that has complied such a huge body of information.
Dear Mark, in the early part of this interview you said that you hope SWU is increasing awareness and I want to tell you that your work has hugely increased my awareness of many aspects of human experience which my day-to-day life would not have shown me. And the wisdom from all of the collective experiences from all the interviews is distilled and displayed by your work. Also I agree with your quote about everything we do is either out of love or out of fear. Thank you for your work.
Mark is a beautiful soul. Ive learned so much from watching his interviews. I think ive also learned about myself. Mark, i hope you realize what an inspiration to so many people. Bless you.
Mark I have loved your work. ❤. As an addict in my early life it was very frightening to get straight. I am not risk adverse and that is what got me into trouble and what also got me out of trouble. Thirty years clean. I love your rationale- there needs to be more awareness about people who are addicts, lost, lonely, sidelined, different and on the fringe. These people are voiceless.
