The trains can actually do a max speed of 150km/hr by design but emphasis has always been on safety first than speed. Aside the fact that people & animals (herdsmen) cross rail tracks with some children even known to play along the tracks, it'd be risky to hit full throttle on the trains. Anyone who has traveled on the Abuja-Kaduna train would've noticed the concrete walls built on both sides of the track to prevent human & animal incursion; that part of the project was eventually abandoned very likely due to paucity of funds. The initial idea was to build concrete fence along the rail tracks from both ends. You'll also agree that Nigerians are a "unique" set of humans. Imagine the train going on max speed only to get to a portion of the track & discover a stretch of it has been stripped by vandals? Normally, people shouldn't be so criminal/murderous as to go vandalize active rail tracks but this is where we are as a nation; people will vandalize public property not minding the repercussions which in this scenario could be fatal. The design isn't faulty except you want to claim superior knowledge to those who designed it. Nice content as always.
@ayodeledaniel5675
@ayodeledaniel5675 2 года назад
"Clean the tracks" you say? In the first place, concrete barriers shouldn't even have to be built around the tracks but guess what? They tried it & stopped. Same thing will happen to any effort to "clean the tracks". The funds to do just that isn't available & even if it were, it'd be a case of a pig rolling in dirty water; problem isn't the presence of filthy water but the pig constantly making the choice to go in. Until there's a reorientation of our mindset (don't trade/play/walk along train tracks, don't dump refuse along the tracks, don't vandalize public property etc), any step government - via NRC - takes to sanitize the railway corridor will always come to nought.
@princepelu2886
@princepelu2886 2 года назад
Very good contribution. Do you know that NRC is the only govt agency/parastatal that have it's own police unit(from the Nigeria police)? But of course, enforcement will continue to a major issue for as long as the country is under-policed and the few in the system lack the basic training and associated welfare. Or better still; until the establishment of state police. Having said that, my take is that now that Railway is being moved to concurrent list from exclusive list, I expect the State government to start sharing the existing lines/ways with the feds just as well as build more stations for intra-city rail just as what Lagos State govt is currently embarked on. I think it will be easier for states to get people off the railteacks than the feds.

I love your excitement and patriotism, God bless you. Keep the videos coming. The only observation I want to make here is how "Naturally dirty" most Nigerians are in their living habit. I noticed a lot of trash littering the rail sides. Some people will say it is poverty, I beg to disagree. I have lived in villages where 80 percent of the homes were mud huts and their only subsistence was fishing yet the compounds were clean, well swept and trash was buried or burned. Our government need to bring in Singaporean rules and implement strict personal cleanliness for the sake of us all. Today's covid may have come from Wuhan China, let us prevent the next pandemic from coming from Nigeria.

There is not much going on Ibadan dry port because FG wants the Governor to construct the access road which he has not done. The location was also changed and the change in government is also a problem as well. Besides the governor does not see it as a priority. The Minister of Transport has threatened to move the location to Osun state.

Good job my brother, keep it up. there are two types of trains, the high speed train and the low speed train. High speed trains are never deployed for journeys less than 300km, High speed trains will come later for longer journeys (trans zonal) longer journeys like lagos to kano or ph to abuja. These fast trains usually have fewer stops, take for example if there is a fast train from lagos to kano, it may only have 4/5 stops at ibadan, illorin, abuja, kaduna and kano. SLOW trains are not used for such distances, they are usually zonal, just like this one that runs from lagos to ibadan having almost 5 stops between both stations. Another reason the train is slow is that the tracks are not secured, they should be secured on both sides with pedestrian/vehicular bridges grossing the tracks. design of curved or straight track are not the reason the train is not as fast as u want BECAUSE IT HAS TO CONNECT THE CITIES IT OUGHT TO CONNECT. Also I want to encourage transport companies like GIG, efex, GUO or even smaller companies or EVEN INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE MONEY can come into train business, they can buy trains and put in on the tracks all regulated by NRC under one pricing and standard of service. Good job bro.

You don’t need to worry whether they are straight. Superelevation can produce a line round a fair tight bend at 160kmpph. Our trains can go round bends at 200kph. What you really need to do is clean up. The area. Stop people trespassing on track. No driver wants to run over them. The amount if time wasted slowing down abd driving slowly through area where people have goods spread all over the railway will show it in a bad like abs add hours to journeys. Lastly. Keep very tight control on where money goes. Cut theft and corruption. If you don’t do that then you have no chance. If you save up the money that normally gets channeled into corrupt hands you can maintain a project that will build cheap but nonetheless robust fencing all along all railways. There is no reason then why you cannot run at 210mph ;125mph with trains you already have. And you do have them having bought the HST (High Speed Train sets from the UK

You always do your home work and give proper information, but it is not the case in this one. The train max speed is 150km/hr, which they cannot cover due to the trading on the rail. Some people and animals are crossing the rail line. Don't deviate from what has been working for you by doing your proper research. Search for the Lagos/Ibadan train from the cabin. You will see the problem for yourself.

NedMedia, please note these facts about the speed of the train. 1. The train are designed for maximum speed of 150km. 2. When new train tracks are constructed, speed are encouraged. The soil will be allowed to compact very well. 3. The slow speed is deliberate for now bcos of the safety of human being. If the speed is increased, it will be killing people randomly. Government is trying to build barricade to shield human access to the rail. 4. The Lagos - Ibadan Standard Gauge Rail is a new rail line and NOT In the same direction that of Old Narrow gauge. The best straight was achieved there. If you see any curve they deliberately bypassed an important area best known to both State and FG. In conclusion, according to NRC, when the soil is fully compacted and human being are restricted from the rail lines through barricade and several bypass or overpass, the speed will be increased. So, there is nothing to fear at all.

You do realize, the Lagos - Ibadan rail doesn't need to go 200mph, it just needs to be fast enough (like at 150-180mph) to be a more efficient, effective, reliable, and a down right better use of transportation.
