Laguna has introduced a new line of Fusion table saws. Here is an unboxing video of the new Fusion F1, which is a 110 volt table saw with integrated dust collection. The saw sells for about $1000 in the US.

Thanks for the video! You inspired me to buy the revo 1216 about 6 months ago and I love it. Wish I could afford the rolling base and legs with it but that’ll come soon. I like Laguna a lot and I think I’ll be a lifelong customer. Thanks again!

Thanks for the helpful video. We got to the end and couldn’t find anything about the dust pan panel in the instructions. Had to tip the thing over and risk damaging it because of that stupid omission. Your video saved any further grief though - cheers!

I am thinking about replacing my 1970's Delta contactors saw. The Laguna Fusion 1 is the one that I am looking at. Looking forward to your impressions.

Hi John, I love those old Delta Contractor saws, but there comes a time. :) Here's my deep dive on the F1: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1P1IESpgAnE.html

Nice unboxing, I may have missed it, but was anything hung from the cast iron top? Does it have optional cast iron wings? I look forward to maybe an alignment video on it.
@ToolMetrix
@ToolMetrix 4 года назад
Hi Richard, thank you. Yes, it's a hybrid saw, so everything inside the cabinet is mounted to the cast iron top. I tell you what; in the deep dive video that I'm working on, I'll pull the cabinet off to get a good view of the trunions and show how it is adjusted. It requires loosening 6 bolts that attach the trunions, and it's a pretty easy process. Also, there aren't cast iron wings for it but you can get those if you step up to the Fusion 2 saw which I'll be looking at next.

Thank you for this quick overview. You've moved Laguna way up on my list. @3:24 you're measuring the tabletop. May I ask what the height of the saw is from top of table to the bottom of the cabinet not including the mobile base? Only what you can see of the saw at that point in the video. And if all I wanted to use is the saw without wings as shown @3:24, may I ask what the fence-rail mounting options would be if I didn't require the full width for wide rips? Could the right section of fence be slid over to the left?

Hi Tim, unfortunately I no longer have the saw in my shop. I do a lot of tool videos and I have a small shop so I can’t keep them all. Best of luck with your purchase decision. Cheers

@ToolMetrix
@ToolMetrix 4 года назад
Thanks, Michael. I've been working on the second video for 3 days now. I'm in the home stretch now and I should have it available soon. I was actually done, but then after the question about making adjustments to the saw, and about whether things hang from the table, I decided to remove the cabinet completely from the table so that people can have a better look. I think that will make for a better "Deep Dive" video, so that's what I'm working on now.

I was looking forward to some measuring of dimensions not available online. For those of us where space is tight, could you measure the minimum depth needed if the fence and dust collection was removed and the F1 was pushed against a wall? Basically rail to rail plus any protrusions front/back. Also, the front rail height (think car hood tucking in nearby). TIA

So, what was the blade run out on these saws? You mention you will test it, but never reported it. Also, How did the overhead dust collection compare to your Shark Guard system. I am sure not as good, I just want to make sure this at least works. Thanks.
@ToolMetrix
@ToolMetrix 3 года назад
Hi Al, if you're referring to the runout for blade to miter slot alignment, I don't remember the exact amount, but it was off enough to where I made the adjustment. It seems to me that it was in the .010 range. I've had to make that adjustment on every saw that I've ever assembled. In terms of runout on the actual blade, I don't recall. The overhead collection on the F1 is ok but not great. It would be much better with a larger hose/port. I haven't hooked up the collection on the Shark Guard, but would definitely be better because you can put whatever size port you want to in it. If I were to set that up I would likely use a 2.5" port, because I've read that 4" is just too much and small pieces get sucked up into the hose. Choosing the right size is a balancing act based on the capabilities of your dust collector. I have a monster cyclone, so I could have a large duct up top. If you are trying to get by with a smaller DC, like 1.5HP, I would skip the blade guard collection entirely and give all the suction to the cabinet body.

Hi Rito, the F1 is a nice saw for a hobbyist or a contractor. I think the F2 is a significant upgrade on several fronts and if you can swing it it’s well worth the difference in cost.

I'm stuck in my F1 assembly. There's a metal plate that's supposed to screw to the bottom of the cabinet, above the stand. I guess to trap sawdust? The manual-or should I say "manual"...cause it's pretty useless-shows it as installed at the factory but mine wasn't. Was just laying in the box and doesn't seem to have any screws to attach. The holes are machined (threaded) so there's a specific screw that goes in there but nothing in the manual. I've sent two emails and left three messages at Laguna support but no response yet. My beautiful F1 is still sitting here, upside down on the floor in my shop three days later. I'm sure I'll love it eventually but not exactly getting off on the right foot with Laguna.

It’s a plate that seals the bottom to improve the dust collection from the saw. I don’t remember if screws came with it or if I had to use my own.

Rodney Allen I just ran in to the same issue you did. Where did you say you got the screws from?
@bellonwheels726
@bellonwheels726 4 года назад
I ended up using #6 bolts with a couple of washers, lock washer and nut. Difficult, but it's done.
@bellonwheels726
@bellonwheels726 4 года назад
Well, after all that, when the saw was assembled, I was left with 6 self tapping screws. Two screws are used to attach a small hook in the miter storage area and the other four are obviously used to screw down the dust pan. Since the dust pan, as well as the overhead dust collection hose are not covered in the installation guide, I assumed the screws were for use elsewhere. C'est la vie, c'est la guerre!

@ToolMetrix
@ToolMetrix 3 года назад
Hi Mike, it’s kind of a “good, better, best” lineup. There are a lot of similarities between the F1 and F2. the F1 is essentially a contractor saw, and the F2 is a hybrid. The F3 is quite different as a true cabinet saw.

The F1 just arrived 1/5/2022 and the included manual is lacking. I also found it interesting it is advertised as USA however the manual clearly stated Taiwan. This will help a weak old man assemble it. Eventually would love a sliding table saw. Little large for a 2 car garage. Dreams are magic until actually happen. CPO used marketing photos with the wheel kit without a disclaimer they are optional. NOPE not optional without the disclaimer. They should be here next week . 2 full years. How do you like the machine?
@ToolMetrix
@ToolMetrix 2 года назад
Hi Dean, to my knowledge Laguna has never made a claim that any of their products are made in the US. They use third party manufacturers in Europe and Asia. Yes, I would like a slider as well but they require a huge foot print and I can't justify the space in my small shop. Wheels are optional on the F1, and included on the F2. I only had the Laguna saws in my shop for a couple months, so I'm unable to offer a long term view.
