24:45 in order to make a sauerkraut, you should keep them from oxygen as much as possible. Anaerobically (without oxygen), Lactobacillus plantarum does their job the way we want them to - they cause fermentation of cabbage via lactic acid. Aerobically (with oxygen), it will produce acetic acid (vinegar). Since they're making sauerkraut, oxygen must be avoided. So in this case marcille statue has been exploited as a fermentation weight quite literally.

Kinda out of topic but I love how ryoko kui faithfully keeping the story focus on the monster and dungeon itself without adding unnecessary romance plot. That is why i believe she give the reader freedom to interpret the characters relationship. Also, since theres a canon lesbian character (its not a spoiler since it was a very minor chara and wont change the actual main plot) so i guess she open with all possibility lol

Yes! I'd even say the anime make some scenes more romance implied then the comic like the bath scene. In the manga Marcille does not look all that blushy, she looks fucking DRAINED, and she's so worry about Falin trying sharing magic with her, while the anime feels like she's shy from the physical touch for me. Also she looks less scary before the resurrection as well, cuz it's kinda important she look scary at the time for some of the later plot

honestly you can even ship characters that haven't met each other. it's fiction after all, just do what you like. as long as you dont force or harass other people if they dont ship the same couple as you ☺️

@@bluestReacts lmao, that comment was made after I had clicked on the video and started watching so it wasn't loaded for me. Yeah, that's a great example of how people will like things regardless of whether they "make sense" or not to others. Such as what you talked about with Falin/Marcille and how you didn't see it- I myself am a Farcille shipper, but not in the sense that I think this is the intention of the show or the direction the story is going. Rather, my own watching of the show and interactions with fan content are enhanced by speculating or imagining about these characters through a romantic lens. Ultimately, I'm fine with people liking or disliking whatever ships they please, I just wish some people wouldn't take it so seriously. Especially for stories like this, which have a lot of interesting details and themes that aren't related to romance, but like 80% of fan content I see is oriented towards it.

i’ll throw my hat into the ring as a liker of marcille x chilchuck - i just think their dynamic, how often they react to things similarly, how often they’re grouped together, and how often they tease eachother (mostly chilchuck @ marcille) really endearing. it’s one of those ships that seems super silly until you think to look for it and notice how much they interact - but i’m biased of course. also the tragedy of a long-lived elf and a half-foot is really fun to think about c:

24:52 "Fermentation weights" or "Tsukemono-ishi" are stones put on the lids of pickles pots. They are kind common among Japan, so most of the Japanese understand the comedy here that Laios and his companies treat Marcille as a stone to make delicious pickles😊 However, most of the foreign anime reactors don't seem getting it, maybe they are not familiar with making this kind of pickles or something.

Also Marcille's intimidation pose and petrified pose are kabuki references, a kind of stage play in Japan (you may know it from the "yooooouuuuu" sound)

@@billlee3851 Since there is an explosion occurring in the background, it is probably an appealing pose inherited from Kabuki to Sentai Hero movies. Power Rangers may actually be more famous in America than in other parts of the world. Also, the pose when petrified is the ``tsukkomi'' style of hitting your partner with the back of your hand during manzai (pair stand-up), but I think the meaning is probably self-explanatory.

I don't mind ship talk, since one of the joys of the series in general is that there are no canonical romances, but plenty of bonding material between many characters, so there's sort of the stepping stones for /any/ ship to be enjoyed (I've seen full fledged Laios/Senshi art, Senshi/Chilchuck art - people are picking their crops), but man... "sisters?" do you... have a sister by chance? Because that is not sisterly behaviour my guy XD (but yes, Marcille/Laios is also very popular. Laios is popular for a LOT of ships yet to be introduced in the anime)

There is no official confirmed ship between Laois, Falin, or Mercile. The Mangaka toss some small hint-like scenes here and there but never make a clear statement. So, yeah, ship whatever you like 👍👍👍😊

15:25 Yeah, fans of a Laios/Marcille ship have been goin on about ‘eating well with this one,’ so that’s a thing. Though, in fairness, Marcille was making that comment to Falin, in regard to her worrying that they wouldn’t both fit in the same bed based on how much she’s grown since they used to (which, yeah, she’s a tallman, and they tend towards towering over the other races as they grow, though that’s not to imply they just ‘grow’ infinitely). Considering Marcille was aware of what had (rather, hadn’t) progressed between Falin and Shuro, she’s not going to be overtly flirty the first chance she gets.

to be fair I can't look at Laios and Marcille in a romantic light at all, I see them pretty much like siblings too. But I personally do get that energy between her and Falin... It's a thing of perspective

Yeah, in my opinion Laois and Marcille act more like siblings. Though people are still going to argue about which ship makes sense and which one doesn't, it's clear Ryoko Kui tried to satisfy everyone by giving each ship their own little moment, without making any of them canon. And I appreciate that.

I wouldn't recommend getting too deep into ships anyway for two reasons: one, romance isn't the focus of this story as many pointed it out already, and two... people can get really toxic about it (which is pretty much the case for every fandom). To me personally, both Falin x Marcille and Laios x Marcille are great and have their merits, but some fans will be appalled and downright wish bad things upon you if you ship something they don't agree with (I don't want to get too specific though). It's just so stupid; those are fictional characters. As long as the ships aren't inherently offensive (adult x child, for example), just let people enjoy themselves. There are more important things in the world to get angry about.

Fantastic episode, I think they really did a good job of adapting this one. When it comes down to the Marcille/Falin argument, to me it’s always read that even if you don’t see them as an official couple during the storyline of the manga/show, that Marcille’s totally smitten with Falin & she herself is totally unaware of it. ‘Oh yeah I’ll cast illegal magic to bring back my friend with my own blood at risk of (spoilers), and then spend the afternoon tenderly exploring her naked body & staring lovingly into her eyes as we embrace in bed. We’re such good friends!’ Meanwhile Falin’s politely waiting for her to realise in her own time but isn’t gonna bring it up, cos she’s the way she is. It’s definitely interesting to see how Shuro reacts to Falin’s situation in comparison, and I think we’ll get to see that expanded upon later on!

For the ship question, the fandom basically agrees that Marcille gets with one of the Toudens. It's just split over which it is. The series gets... a LOT more blatant on the ship bait later on.

Well Chilchuck definitely knows about sex lol , he's considered a middle-aged man in his own race (half foots' average lifespan is 50 years old and Chil's 29, so it's like he's in his 50s in terms of human age) and his three daughters are grown-ups already. So yeah he actually has the most *experience* out of all the people in the group haha

It's fascinating how Marcille can look at Falin with the most affectionate eyes in the world, and the whole thing will be dismissed as "sisterly bond". Meanwhile Marcille teaching healing magic to Laios is read as "damn, look at the shipping potential" because his hand touched her skin? I don't get it whatsoever.

Just like every other media, people ship everyone with anyone. MarcillexFalin, MarcillexLaios, MarcillexChilchuck, LaiosxMadSorcerer and even LaiosxFalin. There's no logic, just what grinds people's gear.
