Hey Gary, We plan to go to Havasu maybe next week. We got a wind report that Mohave might blow 25 to 28 mph, so we might stay away from that lake. WE have lucked out the last 3 times to Mohave. No wind!. We are planning a Powell trip this year in September. We are looking forward to it. We love our '88 Sleekcraft
Thanks for watching our videos. We love to boat camp. Seems like many people love hotels. Hey, air conditioning is great, but so are the stars at night
Hey Kirk, back in the day, we skied so much. It was our life back then....... I am 73 now and just dont have the strength anymore. But we still boat. Where to you ski??
Just found Your gem of a channel, Laurie & Steve. Congrats on the nice new deck hatch, another sign of how You've treasured Your beautiful and original 1988 SleekCraft since You bought it new. My boat's from 1989 and I wouldn't dream of spending money on a new boat in yours/mine size, just way out of my financial range, and wouldn't even offer some of the great ol' school custom touches or pride of being a caretaker of a classic boat. Now it's time for lunch for me and Your next boating video will join me at my late afternoon coffee break. Enjoy Lake Powell if You head there in September as You mentioned. My RU-vid signature photo is of my boat on Powell in 2015.
Hi Lars, Yes, we are leaving for our epic boat camping trip to Lake Powell after Labor Day. I hope to have a video up 1 month after our return. Thanks for your comments
It’s nice to see families enjoying the lake. During the summer we use Nevada side, north facing beaches for early shade and wind protection. That beach with the flag we refer to as 9 mile beach, there’s a blinking nautical marker on the point just south with nine stenciled on it. North of that spot are several small sandy spots that are ideal for camping as they’re a little more protected from the afternoon southerlies. The flag is replaced every year by the mother who lost her son in Afghanistan, this was his favorite beach growing up. Take care and enjoy!
Hi, You know we never got the name of the beach. It is across from Rattlesnake Cove. It is on the east side of the lake about 5 miles up. It is the best beach we have ever had in the 37 years of boat camping Thanks for watching!
Nice vids but you have a lot to learn about lake Mohave. Been going there for over 40 years now. You got very lucky with wind, weather and waves in these vids.
Awesome video Steve! Haven't been to Mohave in 15 plus years, looking to make a comeback this year, I know things have changed with the 2 strokes, but also you need to pay to launch these days at Cottonwood cove, correct? Would you happen to know the cost for a truck, boat and 3 people? I am sure you have a annual pass by now. Is it still free to boat camp I hope at least? or do you pay a lump sum? I appreciate any info on the matter!
