Gorgeous hike in the Swiss Alps😍. Very beautiful mountain scenery, wide open grassland and wildflower meadows. The colour of the lake is just amazing especially with sun shining on it! Well done and great hike...love the cows everywhere enjoying the views!

Great video! I’m surprised this doesn’t have more views! I love how showed the hike on the map and what you experienced at each point. I’ll be going to Oeschinensee next week and trying to figure out which hike to do. I don’t want to do anything too intimidating as we’re not used to this, but I still want to see some breathtaking views! Is it possible to do a bit of walking to some of the viewpoints without doing the more advanced parts of the hike? 😅
Hello, thanks for your comment and have an incredible time in Switzerland! The thumbnail image is the view of the lake from one of the higher elevation points about half way around the loop on the Oberbärgli trail... So if you want a view like that looking down on the entire lake, it makes sense to do the full loop (if you are starting from one of the chalets on the lake). If you are just going there for a day trip, it is actually only 3 miles out and back / 1000' elevation gain from the chair lift to that higher elevation overlook! With this route, you'd miss out on being right down next to the lake. Here is this trail: www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/switzerland/bern/oeschinenbahn-heuberg?u=i If you are not an experienced hiker/might have a hard time with the elevation gain (and you want to start down by the lake), I would recommend walking east along the lake (basically the reverse direction we took on our route) and stop when you get to the little food shack building. I really appreciate it 😊 I haven’t had any trouble planning an itinerary for the other days/locations of my trip, but since most of the information I’ve seen online has been about the panoramic hike, I’ve been having some difficulty planning an alternative route. I’m staying in Adelboden for a couple days and will be heading to Oeschinensee for a day trip. Going to get the bus to Kandersteg and then the gondola around 9am to hopefully get a head start before it gets more crowded. Walking to the food shack building sounds like a great idea! It would be wonderful to see some cows chilling out on the grass too!
Great to see you back in the mountains. It seems like you do a bit of beach or desert places than you are too hot and you always have to go back to the mountains. HAHAHA. LIKE 5👍👍👍
Are the cows friendly? They look like they’re very relaxed around humans kinda want to pet them and play fetch with them when I visit Switzerland next weekend
I believe it is frowned upon to pet the cows. They left us alone while hiking, and we left them alone, other than taking some photos of them from the trail. I saw someone try to pet one while we were near the lake and the cow bucked its head, so that cow definitely did not enjoy the encounter. More info here: swissfamilyfun.com/hiking-safely-with-cows/
I would say it is "moderately challenging" -the first 1/3 of the hike was the most challenging for me with the elevation gain. Then it becomes more moderate. The amazing views make it more exciting so you don't think about the struggle much!
