Bridget is one hell of a bass player! She powers that band up and works flawlessly with Mike the drummer. It's hard to think of a more skilled bass player working in popular music. You'd have to visit jazz to find the likes.
I love these guys so much. Can't wait for new album and to see them again. Their energy is contagious, and so is the fact they are having fun doing what they love...
I saw them in Canton, MD. Holy shit. Their level of impeccable musicianship and attention to detail has set the bar extremely high for all other musicians within earshot. They are a sound to behold.
As I understand it, McDuck learned the guitar only recently. Even so, I think the guitar fits beautifully with the songs. He displays versatility on it and plays very musically.
kdean17 They are all grads of the Boston Conservatory of Music; and at schools like that they make you learn multiple instruments in order to gain a degree. I get the feeling Mike is a horns guy and plays guitar because 1. he can; 2. it's what the song needs.
+mbsnyderc Part of my attraction to this band is that they all are schooled in the art of music accademia, yet through trial and much error (according to McDuck) they discovered their unique sound by applying the theory of less can be more. See (Lake Street Dive: Song writing masterclass at NEC) RU-vid.
Sorry, didn't mean to hit you out of the blue. Just discovered this band 3 days ago and I've been on a Rant/Rave to promote them to my friends and anybody that will listen. Went down the rabbit hole a little bit.
