I played this on one of my late night radio shows in 1993, and had a grown man from Cardiff prison call in crying, begging me to run it again. Huge tune, love it.
GOTTA find a dj for June 3024 for my wedding reception who plays old skool buzz fm sunshine radio etc. Loose Ends joyce sims Mary J Blige. And one who's not charging daft amounts of money for a few hours work.
Remember falling asleep in the back of the car driving home from family gathering. My older brother was driving. He played this and I just woke up! Classic! London UK
Big 2020 and this tune still slaps. Ladies if you're over 35 years of age, and size 18 or above... I'm the tall gentleman behind the speaker box bubblin' with a glass in his hand, a bucket of ice on the floor with a carton of apple juice, 2 and a bit thirds of a bottle of wray. Come for your dance.
Classic, this tune ripped across the Uk like a tidal wave. So many youthful memories of great times collecting vinyl & running tunes on tapes against each other. This tune was spun many times at the blues on the estates.
I don’t remember it being played out when I was in London (even though I bought my copy there) but fuck me, it got RINSED at the blues parties in Toxteth on a regs. Northern staple
aaahh the white label days when vinyl was the flava; thanks to this tune, I discovered its origins (Strawberry Letter 23) by one of my timeless talents and fave artists, the Bros. Johnson... nuff respect for the post
You will only truly appreciate this tune if you are of a certain generation. The way every instrument comes in is genius. It’s a tune that hits you in the right spot! Brilliant.
who is "Shugs"? Is it possible to post the Sleeze Version? This is one of my fav's, but i really like the Sleeze Version. Thanks for a great post. keep posting.
