ar 123 how are you gonna say born to die has horrible lyrics when lyrics like “Carmen, Carmen, staying up 'til morning Only seventeen, but she walks the streets so mean It's alarming, truly, how disarming you can be Eating soft ice cream, Coney Island queen She says, "you don't want to be like me Looking for fun, get me high for free I'm dying, I'm dying" She says, "you don't want to get this way Street walk at night, and a star by day"” exist on Carmen, a story about a teenage prostitute struggling with a drug addiction and being a star by day or Ultraviolence with lyrics like “The power of youth is on my mind Sunsets, small town, I'm out of time Will you still love me when I shine From words but not from beauty My father's love was always strong My mother's glamour lives on and on Yet still inside, I felt alone For reasons unknown to me” on Old Money, talking to her lover and wondering if they’ll still love her for her mind when she’s no longer beautiful, I’m sure if it wasn’t 3am and I wasn’t thinking of songs off the top of my head I’d get some more good lyrics from these albums but this is what I have, but honestly did we even listen to the same albums? All of her albums are filled with some amazing lyrics. The only lyrics you could seem to come up with that were “bad” was a small portion of the chorus from born to dies title track and part of the chorus for sad girl, to me your argument is very weak.

@@Ar-nx8ci I listened to all of the albums and preferred Born to Die. Combined with the musicology, the orchestra, the beat and drums, I found it pretty fucking good, and her theme was consistent throughout the entire album. Her lyrics were also simple but thematic, and highly poetically descriptive “cocaine heart”, “bright blue ripples”, “blood red jam”, “tar black soul”. She has a uniqueness to her, and she’s a great lyricist. Just because she’s great, doesn’t mean she can’t have a few simple lines in her songs!
