That happens to me a lot! I enjoy the albums so much when I saw other people's first reaction because I can see it from like a different point of view.
Right?! I've gone back and watched her react to some old albums I had lost interest just because I had played them on repeat like Non-Stop but I love watching her reactions because they remind me of why I love the music so much in the 1st place
I swear Honeymoon is her most underappreciated album, it's so beautiful and simple yet so complex and carefully crafted to take you on some kind of fucking journey to the heavens lol
tjohnnie01 it wasn't my favourite of hers at first but she honestly transforms your opinions everytime you listen, I'm addicted to it now, especially terrence loves you
There is literally no transition between the two songs. The ambient noises between the two songs cross-fade. That is it. And that goes for Religion and Salvatore. You people need to learn what clever song transitions are. Check out the non-stop version of Madonna's Confessions on a Dancefloor, or the Avalanches' Since I Left You for great examples of clever song transitions.
Terrence loves you is about David Bowie's brother that died. His name was Terrence, and she references Bowie lyrics in the bridge. "Ground control to major Tom."
"Lana Del Rey wrote a song named "Terrence Loves You" for her album "Honeymoon". Said song references David Bowie's "Space Oddity". David Bowie had a half-brother named Terence, who suffered from schizophrenia and who he was very attached to as a kid. He was also the one who turned David's interest atan early age towards jazz. Due to David being fearful he might be schizophrenic himself and general fear of mental illness that ran in his family, the two brothers lost touch after David witnessed Terry worsening and checking himself into a mental hospital. They never quite reunited before Terry's suicide in January 1985. The line "and I lost myself, and I lost you, too, but I still got jazz, when I've got the blues", might be meant as spoken from Terry's perspective." by yourfluffiestnightmare on tumblr
Matt Lotus www.telegraph.co.uk/men/the-filter/the-cruel-grandmother-shamed-mother-and-psychotic-half-brother-w/ here's an article I found about mental illness in his family, but I haven't done any background research to confirm the things stated as facts.
0:23 - Honeymoon 2:23 - Music To Watch Boys To 4:00 - Terrence Loves You 5:13 - Gods Knows I Tried 6:29 - High By The Beach 7:28 - Freak 9:11 - Art Deco 10:49 - Burnt Norton - Interlude 11:19 - Religion 13:00 - Salvatore 14:42 - The Blackest Day 16:20 - 24 17:28 - Swan Song 18:49 - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood
Great reaction. When I heard "Blackest day" the first time, I couldn't believe it. Blew me away and still does. She is just so special and creates universes and atmosphere
We love straights recognizing talent! Lmao but no seriously.... That song STILL fucks me up to this day.... it’s definitely up there as one of my favorite songs of all time!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Honeymoon is easily the most solid, cohesive, and expressive album to date. Is every song a bop? No, that was where Born to Die Shon, thats not Honeymoons intention. Is it harder and darker? No thats Ultraviolence. Honeymoon is a hazy, symphonic storyboard.
@@taylana1490 I find ultraviolence darker in the aspect of drugs, sex, abuse etc.. and honeymoon focuses more on her own sadness and heartbreak while telling a story at the same time :)
Why is this album not appreciated as much as others? 1. Her voice in this album has been the most mesmerizing, dazing, gorgeous. This is the album her voice has sounded the best (of course we know she sings amazing in any album, but her vocals in this album were on another level). 2. The instrumentalization of this album is completely beautiful. 3. The lyrics are good too (for the most part but in every album her lyrics are good for the most part, so)... Honeymoon and Ultraviolence are STILL her best albums, fight me. 😌
+Matthew Streacker 😏😏 seriously!! i told many of my friends about this channel and theres something about this girl thats keep me engaged unlike many other review channels. Imma have to share this on social media too haha 😅
I feel like I'm the only one that enjoys albums the most when listening to them when around the time I first listened to them. I enjoy Honeymoon during the fall/winter, because that's when it came out and I listened to it the most. Ultraviolence is a summer album, while Born to Die is a Spring album for me (that's the time I bought it and listened to it). Looking forward for Lust for Life to be one of my Summer albums
Yes, imo her holy trinity no doubt :) album with the best individual songs/hits - still Born to Die (Off to the Races still a candidate for her best song ever). But especially in the 2nd half the album isn't as cohesive and constant high-quality as Honeymoon.
Honeymoon is my favorite Lana album. It just means so much to me. My favorite songs are probably 1.Terrence Loves You 2. Salvatore 3. Religion 4. Music To Watch Boys To 5. Freak
High by the Beach is my favorite, probably only becuase it is word for word relatable to how I was feeling about a relationship that was ending. Its funny I didn't care for it too much before that, but then some fuck shit happened and I was like, this bitch is singing about my damn life! 😂 But Honeymoon and Music To Watch Boys To are jams, and I LOOOOVE 24 becuase it sounds like the opener to a Bond movie. But really all the songs are good and memorable for me.
@@Fatasha776 it's good for Lana but it sucks when a song you like is literally everywhere and becomes not as good because of how much you heard it. So I'm not 'mad' I'm just stating my opinion. I won't be surprised if you're one of the locals who found out abt it through tiktok
The darkest songs of her touches me so much and I really love this SO SO MUCH. But my favorite track is Freak, because I have such nostalgic memories especially when she says "last forever", it really cought me. But Terrence Loves You and The Blackest Day touch very deep in my woonds.
I find it so hard to rank Lana's albums because they are all so special to me in different ways. I find that depending on what mood I'm in I will end up gravitating to one album or the other. In terms of favourite songs on Honeymoon it would have to be Honeymoon, Terrence Loves You, Freak, and the Blackest Day. And you're right, even though Lana is my queen forever and always, her version didn't hold a candle to Nina's
Lana is literally queen mother, she is the true meaning of perfection and she always brings something new .... she started with born to die, paradise, ultraviolence, honeymoon and lust for life are all perfect and each one of them has its own unique rythem. God I love her so much 😍😍😍
The best part of High by the Beach is how she references a song from her Lizzy Grant days. In Put Me in a Movie, she sings “lights camera acción you know I can’t make it on my own” and in High by the Beach, she sings “lights camera acción I’ll do it on my own” her mind.
I feel like a reason why honeymoon is so easy to get lost into is because it feels like a movie. we all know those songs that make you feel like the main character, well honeymoon is made to be just that and it does it perfectly. you just get transported to another world with these songs.
I know people love Born To Die or Ultraviolence the most, and they’re flawless albums, but this album has a special place in my heart & is my all-time favorite... the way I was completelyyy obsessed with all the songs for like a year is INSANE, and I still listen to most of the songs all the time. ❤️
David Bob there's still a very good chance it'll come May 26th but likely as a surprise release. Her management company says its coming on the 26th, this week, and many stores have said they will be getting the album shipped in this month. Honestly, nothing is for sure but I hope it comes this month or I'll lose all my hope. blog.nextmanagement.com/2017/05/17/lana-del-rey-flaunt-the-cadence-issue-arrhythmias-n154/
Ju-lin guajardo I was. But now after hearing from her manager that it's not even finished being recorded yet and has no release date yet, I've lost every ounce of interest in this era. Never thought I'd say this but I will not be buying this album. I will not give money to her awful team. I will not support this messiness. I will stream and download for free. Not buying though.
Love your reactions!!!❤️ Honeymoon Favorite song: Salvatore Ranking: Paradise Born to die Ultraviolence Honeymoon My all time Favorite songs Body Electric and Gods and Monsters
‘Art Deco’ & ‘My Blackest Day’ STILL fuck me up to this day... I remember when this came out I was OBSESSED with those 2 specifically more than the other tracks & listened to em 24/7!!!!!! They’re soooo captivating... 😍😫 same with Terrance Loves You!!!!! BUT THE WHOLE ALBUM CHANGED MY LIFE IM NOT EVEN KIDDING.. 😭❤️
honeymoon is her magum opus, it closes the arch of her 3 first albuns perfectly. It is my summer afternoon vibezzzz album. And honestly, after honeymoon nothing was ever the same on lana´s records. Who agrees?
Ocean BLVD or NFR is magnum opus. This album is legendary though. Her most cohesive album to date. The transitions and track list is absolutely perfect
I still maintain that this was her magnum opus. It’s a masterpiece that she can’t top. It’s one of the few albums I can listen to from start to finish.
Been a while and I feel like Honeymoon is still her Magnum Opus regardless of how good NFR is, the read that HM had on her discography is a testament to that
Scrolling through my home page I saw the witch hat and immediately clicked on it while saying, "Hello queen mother." Haha, I'm glad you liked you liked Homeymoon. It's an underrated album!
Honeymoon is my favorite Lana album (though NFR is really coming for it the more I listen). Theres just something about the overall mood and tone of this one that just puts me in a really nice, quiet place inside. Lyrics, vocals, production, and track flow are all on point, and for me, it hits me in a deeply personal way, like this album helped me cope with some bittersweet fuck shit for sure.
When you have Norman Fucking Rockwell in your discography it's easy to undermine other works of your in the contention for the best, but i feel honeymoon is Lana's most sonically brilliant and cohesive album, just gorgeous
I'm in love with watching your reactions to LDR! It's like when I first listened to these albums! This is how I would rank LDR's albums: 1. Ultraviolence 2. Honeymoon 3. BTD 4. Paradise
Love your Lana reactions! Glad you liked the album and I agree with your comment on "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". My ranking: 1. Ultraviolence 2. Honeymoon 3. Paradise 4. Born to Die
AJayII it's slow as Ultraviolence was, it's her most complete project as far as production right now. West coast and Shades of cool alone are the reasons why.
In all honesty I don't really watch album reviews or anything like that. But, I am EXTREMELY! Glad that you came up on my suggestions. Not only do you listen to the album track by track. But, you also shed such great meaning to the songs. Also, I LOVE! Your reactions and the comments that you make. I also love how you interact with your viewers. You seem like such a great laugh and an incredible person.👌🏻
Swan Song makes me wanna dance ballet.. though I'm not a ballet dancer, I'm so lost... That song is LIFE!!! fave tracks SWAN SONG The Blackest Day 24 Music Boys Watch to
The part during “Religion” when you sang “Come on, Lana, give it to me” 👌🏼👌🏼❤️❤️. So interesting how both you and Dylan felt it was hard for you to pay attention to the lyrics cuz you get so lost in the music/instrumentation. I guess I could definitely see that (been so long I don’t remember my first reaction besides drooling haha. So interesting, I kind of love that about this album. Cuz you know you’ll be coming back, then you get even more blown away. ❤️
Honeymoon (album) is the best. I listened to it the night right after it came out, chilled and got myself a glass of wine. Terrence Loves You and Salvatore were my first favourites. However, as time went by, I could say without a doubt that The Blackest Day is the best song in this album. It is now my favourite among all of Lana's songs. I've never yet experienced a loss like what that song is about but goddamn it did hurt me real good. Honeymoon still remained my favourite album of Lana's even after Lust for Life came out. I never got into Lust for Life as I did with Honeymoon. I guess I've found my favourite side of Lana. My ranking of her albums: 1. Honeymoon 2. Ultraviolence 3. Born to Die 4. Paradise 5. Lust for Life
And Blackest day is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I remember the first time I’ve listened to it, I couldn’t hold my tears. It was pure beauty and emotions. It’s my fav music of her so far ❤
my ranking: 1- Ultraviolence 2- Honeymoon 3- Lust for Life 4- Born to Die 5- Paradise Paradise is probably the only one I don't really like, yet it does have some good songs
