Ivie Lee The way she does it is how you can tell if the performer is serious about what she sings. Because most of pop stars are faking it bigtime. They have no idea about feelings they sing about.
The smile at 3:35 makes her look like she feels that she hasn't done well enough to impress anyone when really she was amazing
Her voice is so different... I love the way she sounds when she sings "I just", and then she goes and changes her voice completely and it ends up sounding way deeper when she sings the "ride" part. It's really unique.
No Lana loves loud crowds, go watch some brazilian lives, she feel loved and surprised and she starts to give it back. But the truth is most of us listen to her to feel the pain to live, so we close our eyes and cry inside, this is I think, the way to listen to her so when she feels the pain in the crowd she can't really breathe.
Haha i think she is shes not a plastic artist, she likes to sing and loves to write she dont care about money, she just love to Express her feelings its sucks that ppl prefer to listen to emptiness than real music
BIGGEST ARTIST EVER!!!! Once she dies, then you’ll see how the music industry and everyone will place her in the pedestal and win lots of awards. Why do people idolise and appreciate true artists more once they die. So sad 🥀
At the end of the video 3:35, she looked really sad. To us, it was just a performance, a very beautiful one. But to Lana, she was recounting her life story in 3 and a half minutes. She was damaged and depressed, yet she gave us her all. This is one of the most authentic performances I've ever seen
The universe of sorrows behind Lana del Rey's brand and aesthetics is so haunting, and mainly the reason why I do films. She's an encyclopedia of inspiration for me, to the point where my film "Tears of Oizys" - being inspired heavily by her song "California" - made it to become an award winning film. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nSC4ptU79-8.html
The problem is that We are used to listen to singers like christina aguilera or beyonce and thats about it , being a powerhouse is not the only way to be a singer, lana doesn't have a super strong voice nor uses whistle register, belting or any of those fancy techniques, but she sings from her heart , very calm , very beautiful and i respect her for being different. Thiis is like every other aspect of life, each singer has their own style and would be boring as fuck if they all sing the same , if u dont like this dont come here and neither say shes bad just because its not your style , thanks

I really don't know why y'all complain in the comment section.. this is the most beautiful performance of Lana I've ever seen. I'd kill to experience this LIVE. What a woman. What a song. What a voice. I'm in love. BYE.
I’d say one of her better live performances. Lana’s got quite a gap between her studio and live performance imo. I’m not trying to bash her or something, just sharing opinion. An example of chick singer who was virtually indistinguishable studio / stage is of course 70s Emmylou Harris.
Her songs make me cry. Happy tears only. Being in love + listening to her songs= 😭😌🙏🎶💕 "..No one compares, you stand alone... To every record I own.... Music to my heart, that's what you are.... A song that goes on & on.." She makes me sleep & makes me love him even more. Imma sing this to my children, imma sing it to him TvT
Watch her eyes through this performance. Before you criticize her voice, observe her eyes. Watch how they rove around, looking for a safe place to focus- she shows the characteristics of someone who is TERRIFIED. She constantly closes her eyes, and keeps her gaze down. She has little self esteem as it is, and it effects her performance always. Leave her alone, she is amazingly talented, just unappreciated. If you don't like her that's fine but stop being so harsh.
Shia Mortem Only because she sings different everytime doesnt mean she has low selfconfidence...She gives us something precious with every live performance..Most people are jealous bc they can sing a song a 1000 times the same way..Good for you! Why arent you famous? Bc you dont have the soul to write and sing great lyrics with a angelic voice.. ;D
THANK YOU FOR THIS COMMENT! I've always said that she has a stage fright but nobody believed me! Finally, u said it enough profesionally for them to believe u ❤👍
This smile.. At the end... It is so sad... So true... We can really see in this performance how much Lana del rey is a true artiste, singing what she feels..
The fact that she can literally sing however she wants and yet her speaking voice has nothing to do with how she sings amazes me, she deserved all the appreciaion she could get
People don't get that music has been so saturated with auto tune that when something genuine comes along its immediately criticized. This is what Genuine music looks like. Humans will never get a note perfect but near perfection is just enough. And the natural music will feel more genuine and add character.
madison guidry. That woman is Sharon Den Adel, the lead singer of the band Within Temptation, I suggest to listen to them cause they are honestly so good💕
She's more appreciated in other countries than in the US I think. The singer at the show with her (Sharon De adel) is a fan and covered one of her songs, Summer time sadness, her smile at the end while watching Lana is so precious. I love both of them.
I know why I am so inlove and feel so related to lana. Because she's damaged, you can see it in her eyes, she's nervous, she's a real person. Her self esteem is low, she has battled depression, but look how talented this beautiful woman is. I will never respect anyone else so much in my life.
Most of you people don't get that it's not about hitting the notes perfectly, her flaws and the way that she sings so imperfectly makes her songs so beautiful. I admit, she isn't the best singer but her voice is so unique in a way that makes you keep on coming back for more, that's my definition of being a "good singer". Smh.
I've been out on that open road You can be my full time daddy, White and gold Singing blues has been getting old You can be my full-time baby, Hot or cold Don't break me down I've been travelin' too long I've been trying too hard With one pretty song I hear the birds on the summer breeze, I drive fast, I am alone in midnight Been tryin' hard not to get into trouble, But I, I've got a war in my mind So, I just ride, just ride, I just ride, just ride Dying young and I'm playing hard That's the way my father made his life an art Drink all day and we talk 'til dark That's the way the road dogs do it: ride 'til dark. Don't leave me now Don't say good-bye Don't turn around Leave me high and dry I hear the birds on the summer breeze, I drive fast, I am alone in midnight Been tryin' hard not to get into trouble, But I, I've got a war in my mind I just ride, just ride, I just ride, just ride I'm tired of feeling like I'm fucking crazy I'm tired of driving 'til I see stars in my eyes All I've got to keep myself sane, baby So I just ride, I just ride I hear the birds on the summer breeze, I drive fast, I am alone in midnight Been tryin' hard not to get into trouble, But I, I've got a war in my mind I just ride, just ride, I just ride, I just ride
My favorite part about this performance besides Lizzy, is watching the host on the couch completely entranced by Lanas raw emotions pouring all over that stage like a glitter bomb just exploded.
What the fuck? She's already one of the best vocalists in the industry. She doesn't need 10 years. An artist has true soul in their music not perfect melodies or notes...look at the way she sings this song...that's all that matters. I fucking you love Lana, thank you for getting me through all my dark and tumultuous items
i can't believe people are critiquing her voice, she sounds amazing. her facial expressions make this an emotional experience, and the music sounds incredible.
I didn't know her till today. I'm swepped away....Never had that feeling anymore since I heard Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust". What a privilege to be there listening live....
Tony Fakhry dunno if someone's already answered you but a lot of the people in the crowd have special needs! langs is a dutch program that helps people in need. so they might be into it but might not show on their faces :)
Ars Zerim see your point, but depends on the place and artist. Enough concerts in The Netherlands where the crowd is going nuts. Mostly at smaller venues with rock/punk/folk.
I feel so compelled to write something even though and I know it will drown in other comments of admiration, as it should. I never thought a contemporary artist could evoke such feelings as she does. She makes me die inside aswell as heal inside. Even though she will never see this, thank you Lana. Your music has in times of my darkest despair been lifesaving.
I remember being obsessed with this video and lana in general when I was younger. Like I thought it was the most beautiful thing ever but I couldn't understand how something so beautiful could seem so sad.. she's so good
Imperfect and perfect. Cued this up for the beginning of a long drive… Basically played it over and over for the whole drive.. Hardest part was to keep from picking up the phone and watching her sing it..that’s half the vibe
Sarah Pruitt there is no doubt that there her music has a melancholy feel to it. I love that. She also exudes vulnerability that reminds me of Marilyn Monroe I hope she avoids the fate of the latter.
Why does everything nowadays have to be so friggin' upbeat? I find that kind of smiley-face music kind of predictable and superficial. I love the nostalgic "melancholy" mood she weaves..
She is such a sweetheart. Honestly, I'm in love with her music, but she's an absolutely beautiful person inside and out. She loves her fans so much, she has such a beautiful soul.
Every time I see her in a more vulnerable setting, like preforming without tons of screaming fans or just out by herself on the town, I can see this raw and open quality about her that is so very human. There are time when she is not happy, and there is a deep discontent inside of her. Truly a beautiful woman, a great voice for this generation and the emotions it holds.
Man, I always find myself coming back to these videos instead of listening to the actual track. There’s something so… peaceful about watching her sing live. A different vibe. It gives me chills every time.
Look at her, pure talent and emotion. While Sharon Den Adel, powerful metal vocalist and Lana fan looks on in amazement. The atmosphere must have been magical.
you want to know why Lana is popular now? yea she doesn't have the best vocals but at least she's believable like when she sings you can hear her pain and people can relate to her
sasha gayevskaya agreed! u dont have to be able to do vocal acrobatics to reach into people's souls, and thats what she does. she relates to the human soul and nature, whereas most of today's artists can only sing about the superficial and shallow.
The best proof of you said is the fact that, even whit the bad criticism she get from her performance at SNL , which I don't agree whit, she got success after....
I wonder why some people say she can't sing. she sings pretty well to me... That SNL performance was just one thing, it's pretty hard to start with the right tune.
This girl has been exceptional since her inception into mainstream popular music. This is her showing super composure when she sings. I love what she's produced. Testimony of her steady rise in popularity & success.
Laura Meirelles We rarely do, you have to admit that. If you see videos of artists performing in Europe and then in the USA, you will sure find huge differences of the audience. The one is not better than the other ;)
Am I the only one that finds a haunting connection between Lana, the song and that serious/sad looking blonde guy in the audience, it makes this weird connection in my brain.
