In this video we test a new twin station wireless phone charger for the new Land Rover Defender L663. These are for sale on our website :- www.powerfuluk.com/catalogsea...
Nice idea.. I bought a wireless phone charger suitable for my Iphonex to use in my defender 110 (not LR or yours). It produced such a strong RF signal that the car would not recognise the key unless I held it next to the steering column. Straight in the bin it went.
Yes it just needs improvement to get more wireless power - but the supplier is denying there is a problem which is not a good sign ! I even popper the rear support up and still no charing on my phone with case.
That's really good! Easy to take in and out and sits very neatly in an unobtrusive way. I would be tempted to get one to put in my small goods trailer that I use for stealth camping once I upgrade my iPhone 7 to a model than can actually do wireless charging. Plonk it in and BOOM BOOM in the words of @Arthur Sneeden! No fiddling around with cables in a very confined space. Please include a template for making an appropriate hole in a shelf or counter surface. I think caravanners might like this too to have a charging station in the front shelf that most caravans have. Not just for Defenders!
Hi Simon I bought one of those twin Phone Charges about one month ago and it works great, because you are having issues with your phone not charging with a case on as I did try pulling the Wifi Back plate on the charger up a little both docking stations the back plate can be lifted that should align your sensors a bit better hope this helps
Hi All, I took the punt & ordered one of these. Arrived today and works with an iphone 14 pro max in a Mous Mag safe case un the extended position & with a iohone 12 in a new silicon apple case. Yet to try the usb connectors but happy with this device
Hey Simon, can you please try it with multiple cases while trying the back adjustments. Because this is such a great improvement to the car that I would love to have. It’s a better design than the authentic Land Rover one.
I received this yesterday and used it for most of the day in my defender. It worked perfectly for both mine and my wife’s iPhones. We both have a MagSafe case on, and no issues. The only problem I saw was a slight drop in phone signal when it was in the charger. This only really happened when in areas of poor signal - it would just lose completely - but then if I took the phone out and held it in the air, it would instantly regain signal. Is this a known issue?
Thanks for the feedback and glad the charging is working well. I guess that putting the phone into the slot may shield the phone from phone signal - I can see this is not ideal but no one else has commented on this... not a problem for people who live in cities but living in a rural area myself i can see this could be a problem. I cannot think of a solution to this issue but if you find it a problem you are welcome to return the item.
@@L663 thanks for the reassurance but no need to return it. It’s really good 90% of the time. It’s just in areas of weak signal, it drops off momentarily before regaining signal again. We are driving to Italy soon so will have a proper test!!
Just received and installed mine. A very neat product; charges my iphone12 max with ease , however….when the phone is on charge I experience a drop in DAB signal performance and lose some stations altogether. Signal returns once the phone is taken off charge. Anyone else experience this and any solutions eg any settings to change on the Pivi or the iPhone?
We have had one customer notice this - this is probably due to the charger creating some "electrical noise" that in turn interferes with the DAB. As the DAB antenna is at the rear i dont think the issue is interference with the signal but maybe noise on the electrical circuit. We could send you a ferrite to clip around the wire to test this theory. I have tried this on mine but cannot see the issue on our 110 or 90
@@L663 thanks 🙏 for the reply. I’ve been experimenting today and, bizarrely, the issue virtually disappears if I use the left hand dock rather than the right hand dock 🤷♂️ I’ll give your ferrite idea a go as well.
anyone had problems with this charger effecting the key. If I have my phone in the charger and then try starting the car, dash message is "key is not present"
