holy cow....what a cherry!!!! Chris that was one heck of a ride this last few weeks....we've laughed with you, cried with you, and hoped for you...now with the car coming back together we enter a new chapter that is the saga of Dot the beautiful...great job with the paint...I bet when you are done with the cut-n-buff it will look like a deep pool of red that you could just dive into....zillion on the thumbs up!!!!

I have followed this from the stat and you have put a shed load of work into this restoration. it`s now great to seeing all of your hard work paying dividends. You should be very proud of your efforts.

Thank you. Wish I had found SPI before I did the chassis. I would have sprayed everything with their black epoxy instead of Rustoleum. Lesson learned.

Nice! Shop will feel bigger with the body on the chassis. I had a 240z a long time ago. I sold it to build a patio... Last project was the rebuild the SU carbs. ZTherapy is the key. Great guy and fantastic service.

Yes, it does feel bigger. Just got to make sure we don't fill it up with more stuff! Those Z-cars are awesome. I had a 280 back in high school. 5-speed. Sold it before I left for the Navy. Shouldn't have.

What a great feeling when it starts to go back together! I am about 6 months behind you. Chris - one quick question - what lubricant did you use on your suspension bushings? Lucas makes one.

Good deal! I didn't use lubricant on the bushings themselves because I used poly-bushings, which I understand don't require lubrication. I did, however, use Permatex Anti-seize (www.amazon.com/Permatex-80078-Anti-Seize-Lubricant-Bottle/dp/B000FW7VGE/ref=sr_1_1?crid=6WJKM1U4GX7U&keywords=permatex+anti-seize+lubricant&qid=1567551586&s=gateway&sprefix=permatex+anti%2Caps%2C144&sr=8-1) for the bolts, even though they're galvanized, so they don't rust to the collars of the bushings. Had a heck of a time getting some of those out because they had rusted in the old bushings.

Looking good Chris, put some body filler over the runs so you dont go through the paint on either side but I'm sure you know that trick already.. Looking forward to the test drive, I'm about there with miy MK4.. Cheers..

Good deal! You'll have to let me know when you take a drive. I've watch a few videos on using body filler in that way. Need to study up on that before I try it. Another viewer has recommended a razor blade. That scares me a bit, but as long as I'm careful, it may be less invasive to the surrounding area. Still not sure which way to go yet.

Hi, Ralph. A few reasons - I'm going to be putting down some sound matting and the carpet / vinyl will cover most of the areas I didn't paint. All of that combined to make me not want to waste paint on something that would never be seen.
