I'm perched on top of a cliff at a place called Sharp Point in Albany. It's a great place to take my new wide angle lens for spin - the Tamron 17-28mm F/2.8

That’s a beautiful location Richard the scenery looks so grand. I think the wide angle suits it well, and you captured three unique moments of light. I especially like the first. It was interesting getting your thoughts on the lens selection. I may be close to a switch soon. Cheers buddy

I was scouting out the very spot when we were last down in Albany. It's a beautiful coastline there. I really like the shots you captured mate, you made the most of the light you had. I can see that lens is going to become a favourite, cheers mate.

Beautiful photos. I've just got the lens & I'm finding the resolution when focused to infinity very very soft. Everything else closer I focus on is very very sharp. How are you finding sharpness & resolution at infinity? My purpose for the lens is street photography & architecture & the lens makes so much sense it's light bright & razor sharp for the most part. I love doing close up portraits with it for that weird & wonderful look. I'm just wondering if it needs to go back to tamron for adjusting at infinity.

It's always good to get a new lens and have the satisfaction of getting some good images. I agree 17mm -28mm is more than adequate for wide shots. You can always do a pano to get wider. Nice sImages despite the conditions. Cheers.

Thanks Phil! Yeah I’m sure 17-28 will do me just fine. It’s actually more or less the equivalent focal range of my old crop sensor wide angle (11-16) so I’m pretty used to what I can do with it :) Cheers!!!

Do you think its sharp enough for making large prints to sell? I just bought it but after reading the reviews I read that the edges aren't that sharp.

@@e.g.1218 It’s been quite some time since i posted my comment on this channel, but regarding the sharpness of that lens, i can’t give any advice as i don’t use Nikon gear ( I use Canon L series lenses). you will have to get a comment from Richard. I’m not sure he’s even doing any more on RU-vid. it’s been over a year since he posted anything. 🤞

Id probably get the new wide sigma lens over the wider tamron. I got the sony zeiss f4 16-35 for the OSS feature. But tamrons 28-70 f2.8 is the best bargain lens out there! I paid 799 new

Hey mate great video. Ive been trying to decide between this and the 20mm f1.8. I mostly do Sydney coasts and rock pools at sunrise but I've been getting in astro recently. Do you rate this for astro? Hope you're doing well through COVID!

Enjoyed the video, I was out for a shoot today and one " gentlemen " went well out of his way to walk in front of my camera and tripod. He was of a similar age to myself (late sixties). Those people who deposited themselves in the foreground of your composition of the same clan called dimwits.

Ah gee yeah not ideal when that happens is it! Still - the way I see it, I have no more right to a spot than anyone else does... but if you already had your tripod set up and they deposit themselves right in front then yeah I’d say you have a right to be pissed off! 😂
