Do YOU Agree? Is the Tamron 17-28mm a FANTASTIC sequel?! Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8: bhpho.to/2XMAwwT Tamron 28-75mm: bhpho.to/2FmUHDq Sony GM 16-35mm f/2.8: bhpho.to/2FBt0aS
Its du bomb! It lives on my A7iii now. Its close friend (28-75mm) is always in my bag now. Love the wide look and I didn't know about those auto correct settings! I will have to make sure they are on. Thanks!
@@josephyang3260 I pre-ordered the second it was available at B&H....I kept refreshing the page that day till it was available and then had all my payment info saved.
Agree here too. While I CAN afford the G Master that doesn't mean I want to drop 3.3k CAD on it >_> especially since it lacks a number of Sony's latest lens tech (like the XD motors) and Sony's current GM build quality.
Tamron's absolutely killing it with their e-mount glass. I was so impressed with the 28-75 that I pre-ordered the 17-28 shortly after it was announced. It arrived the other day and I'm loving it. The size, weight and internal zoom make it especially handy for gimbal work. These lenses feel like native glass and for that Tamron should be applauded. Here's hoping they release a 75-210 f2.8 with OSS that's no bigger than a typical 70-200 f4.
Scripting, Production, editing is fantastic Jason.. I want you to know I believe it is translating to better views in my opinion. When something new comes out I actually end up waiting for you to release something because of the consistent, and increase in overall quality of what I mentioned above as well as you quite simply just keep getting better and better at delivering useful information. (And you where always great from the beginning) so I appreciate all the extra work and time you spend.
appreciate the kind words man! I wanted to have several test videos out before this huge review but ended up not being able to due to time... and sony's ridiculous amount of new product launches bahahaha
Jason Vong it’s a tricky balance. Lower production value/information to be among the first to release information - versus - over producing and being too late.. Moderation is where you’re at and usually the right answer in most things in life. ❤️
I just got this lens. I love it! Very light. I also have the 28-75. Looking forward to a 75-200(205?). Great video as always bro. As for the Baywatch audition....stick to your RU-vid videos. ✌️
I don't like sand. It's coarse, rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. This review was so good and the footage from the helicopter was 🔥🔥 also what’s your favorite taco? Al pastor is my go to taco
Great review as usual, love your style bro :) I can't believe no-one commented on your flippy screen comment aimed at Kasey, our favorite canadian conspirator lol. Gotta love ya guys, u rock
Ok this may be the best review on youtube ^_^ I have the Sony 10 - 18 on my A6400 for gimbal and 28 - 75... now I want this lens after watching this video haha.
Great video Jason! I already have the 28-75 and I ordered this one almost a month ago but it’s still not available. Im excited to see wide for the first time!
Let us take a moment and appreciate the fantastic quality of Vong Productions! Top-Notch, bro! Thank you! Personally, I had the 28-75mm, and was waiting for the 17-28mm to get my hands on. Then I realized that I use the 35mm very frequently and the 50-75mm range not that much...because of switching lens to the 85mm f/1.8 prime....or 70-200mm f/4. It meant that 16-35mm would give me more flexibility without swapping lenses. And I got a used 16-35mm GM ...so sold the 28-75mm. Now my go to landscape setup is 16-35mm GM and 70-200mm f/4. and Portrait set up is new Tamron SP 35mm f/1.4 (adapted) and Sony FE 85mm f/1.8. I think my GAS is resolved for now.
I actually really like this lens. I prefer the 24-105 f4 G over the 28-70 f2.8 Tamron, but I really like this. I think they sacrificed the zoom range a little in favor of quality and speed, but I've always wondered what's the deal with 16-35 when you already have 24-70. The Sony 12-24 f4 G may be too wide for general use, why would you need a 12mm? And it's expensive, and it's f4. The 16-35 f2.8 GM is too expensive. So I think this one is perfect, unless there's a huge Sony sale.
@@JasonVong Indeed it was!! I was torn between Tamron 17-28 or Sony GM 16-35 but looking at picture quality, functionality and factoring in the cost I am mostly going with Tamron 17-28 and the money which will be saved from not buying Sony 16-35, I will end buying Tamron 28-75 too.
Hi Jason! I have a question :-) I bought the Sony A7iii today and I would like to buy a tripod. I'll be using the A7iii for video shooting (covers on my Channel) and I have no idea what (manfrotto?) tripod to get. Thanks in advance! :-) (oh and would you recommend me to buy the Sony 85mm 1.8 lens for video or the Tampon 28-75mm f/2.8 or maybe another lens?)
I absolutely love the 28-75, so much so that I had to pre-order the 17-28 as soon as it was available. I am now so impressed with both that I’d find it extremely hard not to get a 70-200 range if they came out with one - but my 70-200mm f4 from Sony is my favourite lens so I’d find it difficult to say goodbye to it!!
Jason question for you, I currently own a Sony A7iii and by your recommendation I got the Tamron 28-75 Lens I’m lookin into a wider angle lens and can not afford the Sony GM 16-35 is the Tamron 17-28 my best bet, was also considering the Zeiss 16-35 or the prime Zeiss batis 18MM.
I'm unsure what lens to get someone said the sony you mentioned and then another said the one ure using as a cheaper but my style may not work, I film close to mid norm in homes or tighter areas. Occasionally we get larger open spots. Style of filming is effectively like paranormal activity movie so low light. Will be with the a72 camera
Dennis Isip I have the Sony 16-35 f/4. I think I’d rather have this as the 16-35 is my primary vlogging lens and I want something compact, lightweight, and fast. This seems to check all the marks. Not that the 16-35 is bad, but I’d love to have all the boxes checked. 😉
Hi Jason / viewers I ordered tamron 17-28, via Amazon (in Canada), received the lens today Want to chk how do I confirm the authenticity of it. Apparently there was no seal on the box I don’t see any damage of any sorts, looks new to me But, lens - made in vietnam Lens cap made in Philippines And lens cover made in china Is that how it is ? Absence of seal is making me think about it, Appreciate your inputs Tks
Just picked up this lens to go with my Tamron 28-75 and it is absolutely impressive. Not even thinking about the 16-35 F4 or GM. Now I have all my focal lengths covered and am set for life. Of course that's what I told myself not too long ago lol
Sharp, light-weight, fast and well priced: Tamron rocks the E-mount! Personally I´ll stay with my Sony 16-35 F 2.8 GM since I use the 35 mm very often and don´t want to change lenses. There are also some other small advantages of the GM but again: The Tamron is also a great lens!
I think you're spot-on for shooters where 35mm is your preferred general focal length. Personally, I'm a 50mm guy, so a 16-35mm is still too wide for all purpose shooting (so I stick to 28-75mm for my general zoom.
@@MegaNardman Yes, maybe. I'm photographing a lot of landscape/astro in the mountains, so I need also the wider end; the other lens I use mostly is the 70-200 F 2.8 GM for details and compressed shots. So no 50 mm, sometimes I crop if I need something around this focal length (with the 42 MP of the A7R III always an option).
@@WuschelofDespair Maybe, but I would prefer the Zeiss 55 F 1.8. Yes, it's more expensive but I like the bokeh and of course it is sharp. But I think for the money the 50 mm F 1.8 is a good lens.
Huge question! Everyone is saying that with a Sony a6400 body and a tamron 17-28mm or tamron 17-70... the videography quality is very shaky... idk what to get for a lens that allows for there to be no shake.
Haven't found a use for an ultra wide angle zoom as I'm more of a Wildlife person but competition is always nice to see. I'm really looking forward to see if they do complete trilogy with that 70-200.
Hi Jason, I just got the A7 III and I don't have any lenses. I was thinking maybe to get the Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 GM and the Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 or Sony 85mm f/1.8 and Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 GM. What do you recommend I should get for music videos and car dealership commercials?
it looks super UNSHARP.. it's not even comparable with the 28-75mm brother. How come nobody mentions how blurry the images and videos shown in this video are?
@@JasonVong I can certainly understand your excitement! I have just been waiting for some positive production model reviews on this lens before I ordered! Good thing that I am patient as supplies will be thin. One question, Jason- I am also considering the 24 f1.4GM, that is why I haven't pre ordered the Tamron . Hmm, can I justify owning both ; is there a realistic use case ? (besides just wanting the prime, ha,ha!) Any thoughts or am I experiencing G.A.S......
After spending August in Europe with this lens I have to say, it is gorgeous and amazing to use. Its wonderful for catching amazing landscapes and beautiful structures. It's ability to get real close to the subject allows for great depth of field.
Hi Jason. I'm gonna buy Sony A6300 for filming. But I've been using Nikon DSLR and Nikon lens for 10 years, so I wonder, Is there a mount for Sony A6300 to use with Nikon AF-D lens? And could it set the exposure of Nikon lens? Many thanks!
Thanks for another great video bruh, the clip of the chicken sandwich looked delicious. Not sure why I thought it worthwhile to mention, I'm probably hungry lol.
