Despite the rain, it's been a hive of activity here at Lappa today as after decades of service, and over 200,000 trains - the East Wheal Rose Tunnel has been demolished.
The Tunnel sits on our mainline, which brings thousands of families to our park every single year. It started to show it's age, so we're replacing it with a new one!
The new tunnel will be wider, making it easier to accommodate our new locomotive and accessible carriages. It will also be longer - in fact, a massive 15 metres in length. Long enough to shout "Tunnnnelllll!".
The new tunnel will be open as part of our 50th birthday celebrations in 2024.
