Hello dear friends. Recently I have faced a commonly reported problem battery not charging and message "Plugged in, not charging" in Windows 10. Thankfully, I found that this problem was not uncommon and would occasionally arise after a Windows update. And more thankfully, there was an easy fix. So my fix is worth trying if you encounter this problem. Here's how I got my laptop's battery back to charging when it was plugged in. Firstly Let me show you my laptop battery charging status. It's 100% charged and charger connected. Now see what happened when i unplug charger. My laptop was turned off as soon as i unplugged the charger. It proves that laptop battery was not charging. Now remove laptop battery If your laptop has a removable battery. If you have non removable battery like Lenovo removed the bottom panel of your laptop and then removed the battery by disconnecting it from the motherboard. Now turn on your laptop without inserting battery and directly from the charger. If your laptop turn on successfully without battery, then this will also proves that the fault is in the battery, not in AC adopter or charging port. My laptop start successfully without battery which means there is no problem in AC adapter or in Charging port. Now open the device manager in your laptop. The device manager is used to view and manage all the hardware devices installed on a computer such as Printers, Hard drives, USB devices, keyboards and so on. Open the Device Manager by searching for it or right-clicking the Start button and selecting Device Manager. Then
Click Batteries on the list to expand it and you should see two items: Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft A C P I-Compliant Control Method Battery.
Now Right-click on each item and choose Uninstall device. Yes, you are uninstalling your laptop's battery drivers, but don't worry because they will automatically be reinstalled when you restart your laptop.
Now Shut down your laptop.
Then Unplug the power cable from your laptop.
Put the battery back in and finely Plug in your laptop.
Now Power on your laptop.
Click the battery icon in the system tray and you should see that your laptop is plugged in and charging.
By reinstalling my Lenovo laptop's battery drivers and disconnecting its battery and then reconnecting it, I got my laptop's battery back to charging when it's plugged in. With differences in manufacturers, your mileage may vary.
