Thank you for stoping by. In this video I conduct a load workup with Lapua 5.56 brass and 70 grain Berger VLD Target Projectiles, using Varget as my powder and CCI #400 primers. I put them together by priming with a Lee Challenger Single Stage press, an RCBS Charge master for the powder and scale, then seat the projectiles using Hornady Custom dies in a RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme in which I also give a brief overview and setup without a crimp. Some people swear by crimps some don't. In these particular bullets they wont have one. Eventually we will test accuracy with or without a crimp. As always thank you so much for watching and I can't wait to bring you all shooting with me in the part two where we will test our velocity and powder charge and also see what our accuracy looks like.

Hey Casey glad to hear your furthering your education. It too have spent countless hours prepping range brass. I’ve also bought Lapua press in the past. However, I still ran all of it thru the die and cleaned the inner flash hole. And thing you might consider is doing a crimp. I use the Lee precision crimp. Also if you want to speed your trimming of brass I’d recommend buying the little crow gun works LLC trimmer. THERE awesome.

Thank you! Do you think think the crimp helps with accuracy in any way or is it to just keep the bullets in place through the chambering process? I've heard so many different things and the main thing I've learned with re-loading is that there is always knowledge to be gained. I have a Lyman drill attachment as well as a frankfurt electric trimmer.

@@caseysammobench Crimping a gas or bolt gun that’s magazine feed definitely can benefit. Especially if it’s a single stack magazine (like the bergara). Generally a double stack is better at preventing cartridge shortening (especially if your neck tension is light). I Crimp all my hunting Cartridges unless it’s long range; say 900m. Then I single feed with the projectile of ~ .001” neck tension. I use Sig Sauer BDX app and a kestrel but more importantly I use good technique and fundamental shooting. Reloading is my hobby now. It’s an expensive rabbit hole. Chimo
