This is actually the first video from him I've ever seen, so for me it has even more of an importance

The origin of the concept

exactly, he still to this day refers to repeating rooms as "twice twice" (even though in the context of this level it would actually only be one twice because the second twice is him starting over the level from the beginning thus doing everything twice, twice, but I digress)

It’s just like the movie Citizen Kane. When I was in high school, I tried to watch all 100 movies on the American Film Institute’s top 100 films of all time, and Citizen Kane was #1. I didn’t understand at all at the time why this was because the movie is pretty bland. Google wasn’t a thing yet so I couldn’t ask anyone about it either lol. But it’s not the content that earned it its number one slot. It was its groundbreaking methods of filming and cinematography that left an everlasting impression on the film world.

Also, I actually liked this troll level more than most modern ones. It’s not overly complicated and has just the right amount of trolls in my opinion. Also, it’s hilarious.

Idk, the final troll is just expertly crafted and VERY memorable imo (and this starting room as well)

It may be the most iconic Mario Maker 1 troll level to exist.

My feelings exactly! I'm glad that this level got to be the one that established this mechanic in the SMM fanbase, and I absolutely agree it still stands up today.

This level also started the "Boo Dance of Shame" troll that pops up in later levels. 25:37 for the first dance.

Ep8Script When you think about it, Mario Maker should really be rated M. Lots of levels have rooms where the goal is to kill yourself, and you have to work really hard and solve puzzles in order to succeed in killing yourself. This could make kids think that committing suicide is cool and fun and a goal they should strive for.

I believe i have made the worst though. My thoughts in making a terrible anti-softlocks: (large scale) -So death is not an option for keeping someone away from something, so make the motive something like starting the anti-softlock all over -Make it random. in mm2, on off blocks triggered by those weird spike balls that the spikes throw on seasaws will make everything SUPER random. -Add a waiting component. -If possible, add a skill component -Add power-ups and red pipes -Parachutes are great for "randomness" because keeping track of all of them is impossible -When it comes to the "end" of the contraption, make the player take 1 hit of damage while wearing a powerup then make them start over. -Feeling especially evil? add power-ups on top of the enimies at the end so they have to play it 4 times. -Sprinkle in some oppurtunities to start over at least from a couple seconds ago as much as you can. -If possible, try to make the player pause between jumps (if there are any) with on/off blacks that get triggered by something off screen. -Add a few places where cp1 is an option. -If you want, put p-switch blocks (the ones that can't be collected) over a platform, w/ a contraption that uses a conveyer belt to trigger p-switches. Mario will *very* slowly inch forward with every tiny step being every 10 seconds. At the end, you have an anti-softlock that's just as bad as starting over from cp2. :D

Yes! This is still one of the very best troll levels ever made. The sheer creativity and uniqueness of the level design, not to mention Carl's hilarious reactions have made me watch this video many times more than twice twice!

@@caiomendes7689 Skinner training is basically positive reinforcement of behaviour you want to encourage, and negative encouragement of behaviour you want to discourage. Its the giving a dog a treat if it does something right, and spraying it with water if it does a bad thing. Pavlovian training is where a subject is trained to associate a certain trigger, like a sound or an image, with a certain event. That is the, whenever a bell is rung the subject gets food, so eventually whenever the bell is rung the subject gets hungry.
