Hey, Maker. It's been a year since I started my laser business and it's time I made an updated tutorial on my best selling product, round monogram family signs! In this tutorial I'll cover the entire process from start to finish.
Materials
- 1/8" Birch plywood
- 18" or 24" round from Home Depot
- Black and White Chalk Paint (I use Waverly from Wal-mart)
- 3M Double Sided adhesive (optional) - amzn.to/3lNnrvk
- 220 grit sand paper
- Orbital sander
- Minwax Classic Grey Stain: amzn.to/2NtjYpw
- Weather Wash RUSTED Stain (Use the code BRANDAMB20 for 20% off): www.weatherwashcoatings.com/s...
- Rustoleum Clear Lacquer (or sealant of your choice) - amzn.to/3jClwb0
- Glue of your choice. In this video I used TiteBond Original: amzn.to/3mSThXz
- Fine Tip Squeeze Bottle. I get mine from Hobby Lobby.

Thank you so much for making this video! I am also a mom with a laser. But I still work full time so making anything has been a task. I've made a few small things but I've never actually completed a full project. I have now though!! I am so excited and I can't thank you enough. It turned out beautifully and my family loves it. Thank you again!

When I make these, I use a inexpensive laser ruler which has a cross lens on it so you can get an + pattern which is great for ensuring you get the centre at the top and bottom and also the horizontal too. I also use a cardboard template for the lettering, I find that if you stick the first letter and then the last, it holds your stencil in place better than tape and less chance of it moving :) Nice work and video :) Subscribed.

@ArtisanBuilder
@ArtisanBuilder 3 года назад
@@ThatMomWithALaser it’s called a Multipurpose Laser Level on Amazon and costs about £12 here in the UK, and has various lenses that you can select, and I always use the cross pattern to get a + pattern so I have a horizontal and vertical line. Then just cut a small notch in the centre of your top stencil and one in the bottom stencil, then use the laser to align them. Then once done, you can use those guides to line the laser up to achieve the horizontal line :) might sound confusing lol. Loving your videos, am watching them a 1am over here atm lol. They’re even persuading me to upgrade my my laser to the Mira 7 as the cuts look beautiful :) Look forward to seeing your other videos :)

I found your channel a few days ago and have been enjoying watching your videos. It was nice to see you create the design entirely in Lightburn instead of one of the 'big' programs like Illustrator, etc... I've been using RDWorks with my laser for the most basic functions (cut & engrave), but can't imaging actually trying to draw anything like this with RDW. I might have to give Lightburn some serious consideration.

Yay! I’m glad it’s helpful. One way would be to “convert to path” (I want to say it’s in the edit section). Once you do that, they will no longer be a font and the software will read it as a shape. You can do that or, you can write each word out separately. I hope this helps!

Is there anything that can be done about the distance between the pieces that are caused by the cutting of the laser? There can be some pretty good sized gaps. Do you think it would work to increase the size, ever so slightly, to the family name after slicing it out of the middle letter? Does this make sense to anyone?
