this game was a microcosm of the general rule in sports - the superstars show up at the end of the game and generally decide it. Clark is, of course, the quintessential superstar, but Gabbie Marshall's block, steal, and quick-thinking time out with about 30 seconds to go was the sequence that basically iced the game. that was huge.
It’s a generational aspect, “no mustard on the pass”. Women’s sports should be watched by women, not men. Instead they watch kardashians. But men have noticed, a certain competitive nature in women’s college BASKETBALL that is entertaining. I shall watch.
@@jgonzo7472 I should have been more specific. I've never paid attention to U.S. women's basketball. As a reporter I covered both men's and women's Canadian university basketball for about 20 years and enjoyed it.
The top NCAA women's team play a different game than the WNBA. The difference in ball and player movements is like the difference between 1980s and 90s NBA teams and high school.
@davidmathewson1088 That's why you tell your players to keep pushing thru your mistakes and bad games. Don't let it get ya down. They both did that even though they knew they were playing sub-par. I don't think I'd say they "sucked" though.
Kate Martin hot that big 3, and then Clark and Gabby each with two turnovers/blocks to finish it.....Wow. Seniors in the clutch...full team win with Hannah and others as well!
So crazy to see how our girls have made such an impact worldwide. Just a bunch of girls who love the game, but moreso, love each other. We're proud of our Hawkeyes!
WAY more exciting than men's games!!! The huge plays during crunch time! Plus men's games don't have anyone as clutch as Caitlin Clark. Those fade away contested 3's when they need it most? Who does that???!!!
@@TV-ob1ifwell, it was the most viewed women's bball game on CBS in 25 years...and that was a different era of media. Something like 4.5 million viewers by end.
Caitlin Clark Gabby Marshall and Kate martian showed why they captain and the leaders of their team. All 3 played great in this game. Gabby Marshall is great on defense and come up with great blocks to keep the other team from scoring. You have be happy for Caitlin Clark, Gabby Marshall and Kate martian for winning this game.
They scored over 90 points again. Clark had 2 big steals in overtime while Marshall had a key block and a pass deflection to seal the win. On to the tournament!
Both these teams Nebraska and Iowa should run deep in the NCAA Tournament. That is if the committee doesn't go completely loony and exclude the Cornhuskers.
Excellent game. Kudos to both teams for playing hard and tremendous show of sportsmanship. Credit goes to Nebraska for giving Iowa a worthy opponent which made this championship fun to watch.
I was saying to someone yesterday they might be the sleeping giant in the BIG and their future looks great with that coach. Similar great culture like Iowa. That team gives Iowa fits and they split their meetings with Iowa winning in OT. That Nebraska team is better than their record, IMO. They have the pieces along with team length.
@@melrosehawkins8294their coach has actually been around quite awhile and been pretty average. They didn’t make the tourney last year despite having just as much talent. When she has made the NCAAT they generally don’t perform well.
I love Kates’s interaction with Hannah with that free throw line shots….just her best friend energy willed that ball to go in…..so beautiful and wonderful. What an amazing team and love for each other. And that’s why I love Iowa so much.
I can see Clark having a similar impact on women's basketball that Jordan had on men's basketball. I do believe she is THAT legit. I've never cared about women's basketball... she makes me. Congrats to the entire Iowa team.
Those step-back 3 pointers are incredibly difficult and almost totally un-defendable. And Clark totally baited Nebraska into throwing that last intercepted pass. She's a basketball genius.
It's one thing to block a shot, especially if you look good doing it. But as Bill Russell said, better to get the ball, too. Nice job, Marshall! Congrats, Iowa!
That three-pointer by Caitlin Clark with :51.3 left in overtime took guts. She needed a two for the lead, but instead stepped back and rolled the dice. That's what special players do. Even on nights when their shot isn't falling that well, they still want the ball at the end because they know they only need one. She's starting to remind me of Larry Bird with Indiana State back in 1979. (Gads, was that really 45 years ago?) Just a transcedent superstar. Unlike Larry and the Sycamores, however, I hope Caitlin and the Lady Hawkeyes don't come up one game short of their goal.
This was a perfect example of a champion ... Iowa faced adversity the entire game, and they could have folded a few times, but Their character and team drive to win, came through .... Nebraska played great... you can't take anything away from them ... wow
Not just Men's B-ball fans. I haven't watch ANY B-ball in YEARS. Now I find myself staying up late, watching everything I can find on Caitlin Clark and the Iowa crew, as well as Audi Crooks and Iowa State. Loving every minute of it.
Unfortunately she won't. She does not have the physical makeup for that. She is actually transferring to NC to go to grad school in OT. Good luck to her. @@ernestkovach3305
For real, ft% from 61% over the season to 85% for the tournament, and nearly a 25 pt dbl/dbl (the last one was worth at least 2). She's key to a deep run, and she's gonna be a monster next year.
I have not watch basketball game for a loooooong time(30+ years) but I watched this game entirely, I was very much impressed of the ladies on both teams.
That is just Terrific for The Lady Hawk's. Now on too the NCAA Women's Tournament where Hopefully they Will Get The National Championship 🏆🏆🏆🏆. So Good Luck To Them , and May God Bless Them As Well. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🤞🤞
Fantastic win HAWKS!! These ladies are a wonderful TEAM!! Seven of my family members have gone to Iowa starting with my sister in 1963. We bleed Black and Gold!!!!
